Santa's Arrival

Hello, friends! Happy Monday.

Emily here for you today to showcase a merry little card. There are several steps, so let's get started, shall we?

To start, I blended Wilted Violet and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks onto a piece of hot press watercolor card stock. I blended the purple in a bit of a swag, then blended the dark blue in the remaining white spots in order to create a kind of Aurora Borealis effect. I then spread Pearlescent Embossing Paste from Dreamweaver over the Stars Shimmer stencil from Memory Box and set the entire panel aside to dry.

The sweet little Santa and reindeer from Santa's Ride by Neat and Tangled were stamped on some cold press watercolor paper using black Archival ink. I then die cut all of the images using the coordinating dies and used my Zig Clean Color markers, water, and a paintbrush to color the images.  I added some gold shimmer to the sleigh, bells, and Santa's belt using some water and Gold Perfect Pearls. Now, I don't know about you, but it drives me bonkers when I have that little white edge on stamped die cuts, especially when it's images like this where that little edge would completely detract from the overall feel of the card. So, to fix that, I dabbed some Chipped Sapphire ink on a clear block and used my paintbrush to spread it out on the edges of all of the die cuts. It's not perfect, as some of the die cuts are on the snow and so the "night sky" edges don't really fit, but I think it's so much less distracting than if I had left it plain. An extra step, but totally worth it, in my opinion.

For the greeting, I heat embossed "Christmas" with silver embossing powder from the Merry Stamp & Cut set by Hero Arts, then die cut the coordinating "merry" from silver holographic paper. I cut some snow hills with some white glitter paper, then popped Santa, his sleigh, and bag o' presents with some foam tape.

I hope you enjoyed this card! I can't believe how quickly Christmas is approaching... I've got almost all of my shopping done, but I still have to wrap everything, make tags for the wrapped gifts (once I know which wrapping paper I'm using... oy.), do a head count on my Christmas cards to make sure I've got enough.... boy, oh boy is this time flying by! Yikes! I hope your Christmas card creations are coming along nicely! Have a great week, friends. :)
