Hello crafty friends and happy Labor Day weekend! I'm excited for this weekend because it always seems like the officially kick-off for fall, which is MY favorite season of the year. This is Design Team member Crystal Komara here with you today sharing two cards created using the beautiful Sunflowers stamp set by Pretty Pink Posh. This is only the second stamp set that I own by Pretty Pink Posh and I have had it sitting in my craft room for longer than I care to admit. I have been recently cleaning and re-organzing my craft room and I'm finding lots of buried treasures!
Card details:
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Lawn Fawn Sherbet cardstock. I mounted a pre-made alcohol ink background piece directly to the card base. Using Versamark ink I stamped the sentiment in the lower right corner and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I stamped all of the sunflowers (in two varying sizes) and leaves in Memento Tuxedo black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I used the coordinating Sunflower dies by Pretty Pink Posh to die cut the images. I colored the images with Copic markers and added small details to the flowers and leaves with a Pilot white gel pen. I added the flowers to the card using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I
added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the flowers for added sparkle.
*Note:
Because I am not currently creating video content and tutorials on my website, I highly recommend checking out this Easy Alcohol Ink Background Tutorial by Jennifer McGuire. She has created a very simple introduction to working with alcohol inks to create some basic backgrounds. This was the first video I watched after purchasing my alcohol inks and then I just spent time playing around with them! The great thing is there is no right or wrong when it comes to art. You just have fun (and usually make a mess) with it! *My only tip would be that you don't need to spend your money purchasing polysynthetic Yupo Paper at nearly $1.00 per sheet. You can use the reverse side of any high quality photo paper (like this one by Kirkland) and achieve the same results!
I created a second card to share with you today in different colors. I always like to see a card designed the same way, but in different colors, because our eyes are drawn to certain things and while we might not like one way, we might LOVE another.
