Happy Wednesday Crafty Friends! Julianne here sharing a tea party inspired birthday card for a dear friend of mine. For this card I used a bunch of Honey Bee Stamps products and I'm super excited to share it with you.
My friend's sister is turning 16 today and I wanted to create her something that she would love and I drew the inspiration from a tea party that we decorated recently and thought it would be perfect for the theme of the card. Below is a picture of what the tea party ended up looking like:
After watching a video by Kelly Latevola I really wanted to try making a one layer card scene. She makes such beautiful scenes and I really wanted to give it a go and try something different. I stated out by stamping out all the images in both the Honey Bee Piece of Cake and Winter Anemone stamp set onto some masking paper.
Once I had everything stamped I cut the images out and arranged them on my card base how I wanted them to be; this not only helped me decide where I wanted everything but it also helped with finding out what images I needed to stamp first.
Using my MISTI I started out by stamping the bottom flowers as well as the strawberries first. Moving on to the cake slice and the top flowers, then finally the cupcake and the two stands. I decided the bottom flowers needed an extra flower so I added in a single rose image. I started working on my copic coloring next, I wanted all the flowers to be a range of pink, purple and yellow so that's what I did. For the retirement party we bought a few flower arrangements at the store and cut them all before placing them on the table as well as in the various tea cups and/or stands.
Once I had all my coloring completed, I used W1, W3, W4 to add shadows under the flowers as well as the cake stands. For my sentiment I used the Happy Birthday Die from Honey Bee Stamps. I decided to use the sentiment die as well as the shadow die, I think it helped make the sentiment pop from all the different colors in the background. I stamped 'Happy' on some white cardstock and cut down with my paper trimmer.
Adding some final details to the flowers as well as the cupcake with a white gel pen. I scattered a bunch of gold sequins all over the card to finish it off.
