I'm sharing a clean and simple card today, using February's mood board for inspiration. Clean and simple cards (cards with a lot of white space) are actually my favorite style ... I just want my clean and simple cards to have lots of personality!
Next, I stamped the birds and a heart from Lawn Fawn's science of love stamp set in black Copic-friendly ink. I used shades of red Copic markers to color the birds (R24, R29 and R39), with some light blue (B000 and B01) for the glasses and orange (YR16) for the beaks. I colored the heart with shades of pink (R83 and R85). I cut the images using the coordinating dies, and added details to the birds with a white gel pen and glossy accents.
Here is the February mood board:
The colors are metallic silver, carnation pink, French rose and poppy red ... so fun!
I started with a piece of smooth Bristol card stock cut slightly smaller than the standard 4.25 x 5.5" card size. I taped off (and protected with additional scrap paper) all but an approximately 2.25" strip of the card stock. (I would normally use purple tape to do this part but I happened to be out of it! I'm placing an order at the shop today, because I was nervous using regular washi tape!). I then blended tattered rose distress oxide ink over the exposed area, spritzed it with water and splattered it with some watered-down red and pink acrylic paint (many products would work well for this technique!).
I peeled up the tape and extra paper immediately. I love the resulting background!
I used VersaMark ink and silver embossing powder to add a Lawn Fawn scripty sayings sentiment to the lower half of the card (the Misti tool really helps with long sentiments like this one).
Finally, I attached my card stock to a standard 4.25 x 5.5" card base with craft foam underneath for added dimension.
That's it! Clean and simple with personality. Happy Friday, crafty friends!
