Some Bunny Loves You

Happy Saturday, Everyone! I'm so excited to be back on the BRI blog today. I have a cute spring-themed, slimline card to share with you today.

My card features the bunnies from Mama Elephant's Up With Love stamp set. You may notice that one of the bunnies is facing the opposite direction. I was able to do this with a trick called mirror stamping. There are a lot of different ways to do mirror stamping, but I used the Waffle Flower Mini Media Mat. I used black pigment ink, and I did that for two reasons. First, I thought it would give the best result. And second, I had planned to color the bunnies with my Zig clean color real brush markers. I put the stamp on an acrylic block, inked it up, and then stamped it right onto the media mat. I then took a piece of Bristol smooth card stock and carefully pressed it onto the mat, smoothing my hand over it to get a good impression. I lifted the paper, and voila - I had my mirror image!

I colored all of the bunnies using the same gray markers, and then I varied the color of the balloons. I was inspired by the amazing Butterfly Reflections mood board for March. Isn't it gorgeous? The next step was to create the backdrop for the bunnies. I started with the scalloped die from Mama Elephant's Slim Card Basics die set. I then used a cool new stencil set from Newton's Nook - the Slimline Masking Circles & Squares. I chose the square stencil and lined it up with my scalloped panel, making sure to tape them together so they didn't shift. I took two different shades of yellow, pink, and green Pinkfresh Studio ink and blended the colors into the square openings of the stencil.

Without removing the stencil, I then grabbed another stencil - this time one with small hearts. I used the Staggered Hearts stencil from My Favorite Things, which I think has been retired. There are so many great heart stencils out there. I actually think this one from Memory Box would have looked better on my card, but you can't have all of the heart stencils. Or can you? I laid the heart stencil over the square stencil and then used Nuvo glimmer paste in the Moonstone color. This color is great because, while it goes on clear, it takes on the color of whatever is underneath. I love how this gave my background some texture and a little bit of glam.

I mounted my panel onto a minty green slimline card base measuring 4"x9". To finish the card, I white heat embossed my sentiment onto black card stock. I had this "some bunny loves you" stamp in my stash for quite awhile. I think it may be retired, but I just ordered this cute set from Trinity Stamps that has the same sentiment. I just couldn't resist all of the other sweet sentiments in that set.

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer. I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks . I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things...

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello! Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog . It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink! Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards. What do I mean, you wonder? Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color. For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks. You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.
