I can't believe we are almost done with August. Seriously, I blinked and the month was G-O-N-E!
My husband heads back to teaching this next week, so I am always sad to see him leave his more relaxed schedule, but he loves what he does, so that definitely helps!
I follow several talented gals on Instagram who are planner designers. To be honest, getting my day planner was one of the highlights of the school year for me, but now that I am WAY on the other side of my school days, I don't really find use for a planner, especially since I use my phone calendar all the time. But I still like all things papercraft, so I love following these folks on Instagram just to look at their beautiful patterns! Today's card is inspired by Violet and you can find her instagram account here.
This card incorporated a few different techniques with some of my favorite stamp sets. This Wplus 9 Freehand Florals set is still one of my favorites, and I'm always amazed at the beautiful results it produces.
I started off by masking off some circle areas on my card panel. I just die cut a few different sizes of circles from masking paper using a circle die. I then used a blue shade of dye ink and my ink blending tool to create the blue background, and then removed the circle masks.
I used a pink shade of dye ink to stamp my floral images in. I first stamped them in the pink ink and then stamped on top of them in a white pigment ink. This allowed me to use the same pink color and continue stamping the layering images on top of it since the base layer was now a shade lighter thanks to the white pigment ink. I used this same technique with the leaf images, switching to a green dye ink for the leaves and also cutting a mask for the floral image so I could tuck the leaves under the flower.
After I had all the floral images stamped in the white circles, I used my Tonic Nuvo Drops to create the white dots all around the card panel. This made the colors all kind of come together and I really loved the end result!
I used a scallop die to cut a piece for the sentiment, and then stamped the sentiment from another WPlus9 set in Versamark ink and then gold heat embossed it. I then put some foam tape behind my stamped sentiment piece and placed it in the top middle of the card.
I had never done a card like this before so I was excited with the results and hope you'll give it a try!
