Hello Crafty Friends! Davina here sharing some pre-summer fun using the gorgeous May BRI Moodboard. I created this fun ocean/ beach card using a ton of summer Lawn Fawn sets. The colors for this months Moodboard are Peachy Pink, Mango, Turquoise, and Indigo Blue. I felt they were perfect for this undersea scene.
I flipped through my stamp sets and pulled out all of the beach related stamps. Then I settled on a few for the main images. I gathered Manatee-rific and Smooth Sailing for the large images, and Mermaid For You, You are Sublime, Year Six Little Shellfish, and the palms from Ahoy, Matey. I stamped many of the images out using my stamp platform, and colored them up with copic markers in the colors that coordinated with the color board.
I always feel like I struggle with the smaller scenes in framed cards. But I love them so much when I see them by other cardmakers. So I challenged myself to use the Four Square Backdrop Die from Lawn Fawn, that I have owned and never used. I cut two pieces of turquoise cardstock and glued them together for a thick and sturdy frame. Then I cut 3 pieces of Bristol Smooth Cardstock to 4.25x5.5I cut one piece with the Simple Stitched Hillside, and another with Stitched Wave Borders. I inked the full panel with Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide, the hillside with Antique Linen, and the water layers with Peacock Feathers.
I adhered the layers together and assembled each little section. I made sure to tuck some images under the frame, and overlap others. I also decided to put the largest images completely on top, so they would appear closer, and create a dimensional look with the smaller above ground images up top.
I really love how this card came together and hope that I can inspire you to use the current Moodboard. There are still a few days In May to create something and link it to my blog for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the Butterfly Reflections Ink shop.
