Hello,
I can't believe it but this is already my last official post for the Butterfly
Reflections Ink blog. I hope I was able to inspire you these past four months
and I want to thank Vanessa for the opportunity and wish the new design team
the best of luck and a lot of fun.
For today's card I'm going with a fall themed card. It's almost September and I'm starting to see some signs that fall is near. I grabbed my flippin' awesome die, because I hardly ever use it and it's so much fun. I created little mini scenes of squirrels. On the first flap the squirrel is slowly watching the trees go from green to orange. Then as soon as they start to fall off, he gets his buddy to get ready for winter. While one is gathering acorns, the other is raking the leaves into a giant pile. On the last flap you see one squirrel jumping out of the pile of leaves and you see the sentiment happy fall as the other squirrel walks away with a huge pile of acorns. I really loved creating this scene and I'll take you through the materials and steps.
First of all I used the Flippin' Awesome set on some 80lb cardstock from Lawn Fawn. I die cut the mechanism and four squares out of that cardstock. I used one of the Fall Fling 6x6 papers for the squares as well, but only needed three of those. I cut the arrow/pull tab part and the scalloped rectangle from the Flippin’ Awesome Add-On set from that same Fall Fling paper as well.
I colored the white panels with Dried Marigold, Carved Pumpkin, Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover. I added Carved Pumpkin around all of my Fall Fling paper edges to give it a little more interest.
After adding the Fall Fling paper to the inked squares with liquid glue, I adhered them to the mechanism with some Scor Tape.
I stamped the images with Jet
Black ink and used critters, sentiments and scene fillers from Happy Hugs, Let’s
Go Nuts, Tree
Before ‘n Afters, Happy
Happy Happy. They were colored with my Copic Sketch Markers: W2, W4, W6,
W8, 0, C0, C1, C3, E13, E15, E55, E57, E59, Y13, Y15, YR04, YR07, YR21, YR23,
BG53, BG57, R20, YG13, YG17, G02, G05.
I used a Black
Glaze pen on the open eyes and my Copic
Multi Liner on the closed eyes and mouths. With my White
Gelly Roll pen I added some shiny sparkles on the cart and the rake. I used
the matching dies to cut them out and then I added them to the mechanism with
liquid glue.
To make the piece that pulls out slide back in again I used a piece of Acetate on top of it. That was a little trick Kelly Marie showed in the intro video on YouTube.
I attached the Flippin’ Awesome slider to the scalloped rectangle and then the entire thing to a panel I cut with the Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables using some Scor Tape. I used Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Clover to cover the entire panel with a nice green color. I splattered some Liquid Stardust mixed with water on that panel and let it dry before I added the mechanism on top. Then the entire thing was added to a card base and the card was done!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my
blog posts these past four months. Have an amazing week and a lovely fall!
Hugs,
Leontine
