Peace on Earth with the BRI Moodboard

Hello crafty friends. Davina here with some November BRI Moodboard color inspiration. I really wanted to create a Christmas card using these bold fall colors, and with the help of the recent Reverse Confetti release, I’m excited to share my project.

I didn’t hesitate to purchase the new Adore Him stamps and die set when it became available. I love the illustrations and the simplicity of the images. It’s very rare that I create a card using only one stamp set and this is one of those times.

I looked though my stash of R.C. Cover panels and was excited to find the oldie but goodie Sunburst Cover Panel confetti cut. I thought the rays would be a perfect background for an inky background. I inked up a muted ocean blue piece of cardstock with Speckled Egg and Iced Spruce distress oxide ink then splattered with gold and white ink. I layered a crisp white sunburst panel over the top of my inky background.

Next, I stamped my images and colored them with copic markers in colors inspired by the Moodboard. I chose some reddish browns to represent the terra cotta “baked earth” color. I used the same 3 markers for the wood and skin colors of my images. I colored everything else using the remaining 3 colors from the color board. After die cutting everything using the coordinating dies, I arranged them onto the lower half of my card. I popped the characters up with some foam tape then cut the letters for the word “peace” using LawnFawn Finley’s ABCs letter dies. I inked the letters in reddish brown hues and a little Rusty Hinge, then splattered with more gold ink. I finished it off with the “on earth” portion of the sentiment from the set, stamped in dark green, and popped it up under the word.

This card looks so different from my normal style and I really love it. It came together quick and easy so I might have to make a few more for my Christmas stash. Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer. I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks . It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink! Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards. What do I mean, you wonder? Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color. For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks. You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.
