Hi Everyone, Peggy here with inspiration spotlighting the Mod Heart dies by Mama Elephant. These were in the January 2022 release and it's a super versatile set. I will be showing you two cards I made, using both the window that remains in the paper after cutting out the large heart, as well as using the pieces that pop out. Both of my cards feature the cute birthday cake hamster from the February 2022 release set Celebration Hamster, stamped with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink and colored with copic markers. Feel free to ask for copic numbers, if you are interested!
Card 1
For my first card, I wanted to make a shaker. I took a piece of pretty paper fit for a birthday card. Mine was an Echo Park 6x6 patterned paper, with pinks, blues, yellows and black. But you can choose any paper you like and customize for any occasion. I cut the patterned paper using the wonky rectangle in the Mod Heart set. I saved the remaining piece of the patterned paper for my second card. I cut a second wonky rectangle from white cardstock fit for stamping and ink blending. In that second rectangle I centered the large heart and ran it through my die cutting machine. I saved the cut out pieces for my second card as well.
On the white rectangle, I did some basic ink blending using Kitsch Flamingo and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Inks fading out to white. I stamped one of the sentiments from the Celebration Hamster set in the lower left corner. I used a piece of acetate to make the panel into a shaker window. I used a double layer of foam tape around the heart cutout and also supported the rest of the panel with a double layer of foam tape. I filled the shaker with clay confetti in the colors of my patterned paper, assembled my shaker card and glued the cute hamster image on top.Card 2
For my second card, I took the left over patterned paper and the white heart pieces that came out of the die for my first card. I did the same pink ink blending I did on the front panel of my first card, but on a regular size card base. I adhered another one of the wonky rectangles from the Mod Heart set over top, stamping a sentiment from the Celebration Hamster stamp set in the lower right corner.
Next, I did some ink blending on each of the separate pieces of the heart I had saved using Distress Oxide Inks. I turned the pieces over and used some regular cello tape to tape them back together in the right order. The Mod Heart set also has two smaller heart dies and I cut out those from the left over patterned paper. Since it's a two sided paper, I used one heart cut from the pattern on each side. I backed the three hearts with foam tape and adhered them to the middle of the card. I glued the cute hamster image on top, using a bit of foam tape to adjust it to the dimension of the popped up heart. I adhered some of the clay confetti pieces as embellishments.
Finishing touches
Lastly, I fussy cut two party hats from either side of the patterned paper and added these to the hamster images to tie everything together nicely. Both cards were finished with some white gelly roll pen and glossy accents.
I hope I have been able to show you the versatility of this die set and look forward to your cards!
Long distance hugs,
Peggy
