"I adore you" 12 x 12 scrapbook layout //Altenew Stamps & Dies

Hi crafty friends...it's Tuesday...which means it's  Heather here with another project to share  of my sweet little lady on Easter. I have been playing with the "Adore You" and "Beautiful Day" stamp sets from Altenew for some time now and I love these flowers!  It is also helpful to have the matching dies especially when stamping and cutting a field full of flowers.  These images aren't too difficult to fussy cut, but I am not a fan!   You can find the "Adore You" stamps and matching dies in a set in the store...and if you prefer a different look, there are so many Altenew stamps available in the shop that can also be used to create this look. In order to create this rainbow of flowers, I started with watercolor paper and  distress inks from Tim Holtz and got to smooshing.  If you haven't seen this done before, I "smoosh" the ink pads on my craft mat, spray some water, then run the watercolor paper through the ink.  I ...

Beautiful Day

Happy Saturday! Today I'm sharing this card that was so therapeutic to create! I was watching a video that a fellow card maker did and she used this fantastic set of watercolor samples that are very inexpensive and a great way to try out some high quality watercolor paints and then decide which ones you'd like to invest in. Find the watercolor set here . For a cardmaker, this option is so economical because you don't really need to use much to make a beautiful looking watercolor masterpiece. I began by stamping my images from the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set on to my favorite watercolor paper  in Versamark ink  and then  gold heat embossed them . I then used a small paintbrush and set off to coloring the images. The dots of watercolor on this sample sheet are very concentrated, so the color on the sheet is quite bolder than what will actually appear on your paper when you add the water to it. I recommend trying out these paints on a scratch piece of watercolor...

Watercolor with Altenew

Happy Monday crafty friends, Kim with you this morning with a no-line Altenew watercolored flower! Products can all be found in the Butterfly Reflections Ink shop :) I bought a new set of watercolor paints and I wanted to practice so I pulled out one of my favorite Altenew flower sets Beautiful Day . I always love to practice colouring on Altenew florals due to the size of their stamps.   I started by stamping my image using Distress Ink in Old Paper and slowly building my color. Once I finished my flower I fussy cut it once it was dry (moral to this story, always by the dies...lol)  I then used some accompanying foliage stamps from the Beautiful Day set along with the leaves from the Winnie and Walter In Bloom  Addie's Garden set . I stamped my sentiment in a mix of black and lavender inks using my Misti to mask and be able to double stamp the sections. I cut a matching card base from my Canson watercolor paper popped up my card sprinkled some Pretty Pin...

Winter colors with Altenew!

Happy Monday! Kim with you this morning and I am sharing a thank you card featuring Altenew! I don't know about you, but when January and February are around I need flowers! I rarely use blues and purples, but I felt the choices were fitting for a winter thank you.  I started with Bristol cardstock because I wanted to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers . I cut the base panel with Avery Elle Wonky Stiches Rectangle die  - this is one of my favorite dies for base panels.  I lined up my stamps from Altenew's Beautiful Day  to make sure I liked the placement before stamping the leaves, and small flowers in the background.  I stamped them using my Misti Stamp Tool  with VersaMark Ink  and then Silver embossed my images.  I then stamped my largest flower on another piece of Bristol also using VersaMark and silver embossing powder to cut it out and pop it up using foam tape. I usually just use my Zig markers and blend them together, b...

Majestic Blooms

Majestic Blooms . Sigh. They are so beautiful, aren't they? Karen B. from The Bald Dragonfly here today, excited to be posting my first card for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This card was so easy to put together. I started by stamping out the leaves from Altenew's Beautiful Day  and the bloom from  Majestic Blooms  onto watercolor paper. After applying a coat of clean, clear water onto the images, I started coloring the bloom and leaves with a drop of Color Burst Metals-Saffron and my Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors . After letting the flowers dry, I die cut them using the coordinating dies, Majestic Bloom Dies and Beautiful Day Dies . After applying a green cardstock panel with inked edges to a white card base, I flicked some water droplets onto the background (again with a drop of  Color Burst Metals-Saffron  and  Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors ), stamped the sentiment from  Majestic Blooms  and arranged and adhered the flowers a...

Easy Floral Wreath Using MISTI

Hi friends! Amy ( The Craft Bunny ) here today sharing some MISTI tips. When I first got my MISTI, I only used it to stamp my sentiment. As I become more comfortable with this tool, I began to pick up more techniques. Today's card features a floral wreath made with small stamp images from Altenew's  Beautiful Day and Peony Bouquet . This can be easily achieved with MISTI  by stamping a flower to the side, then turn your card by 180 degree, then stamp again. I did not use any masks for this card. Instead, I manipulated the stamps so they look like they are connected together. This is very easy to do and the wreath itself only took me a few minutes to stamp. For the rest of the card: Fill in the outer white space with the same stamp images with light gray ink Color in the wreath with Copic markers . After the coloring, I added some small dots to balance out my wreath so it'd look more centered Stamp the sentiment repeatedly using black and gray ink Lastly, em...

Watercolor - Altenew - Thinking of You

Hey folks! I'm back today to share a card with you that was made by special request from youngest daughter. I used the Altenew Beautiful Day Stamp Set on this card HERE, but when my on of my Squirrel's asks me to use it again, I gotta say yes! Well, that and I LOVE this set, so it's easy to say yes. This card was super duper easy too! I stamped my Images on some Ranger - Tim Holtz Distress Cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink then heat embossed them with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder. I used Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint to color these GORGEOUS images in. Next, I used a couple of dies from the My Favorite Things Blueprints 24 Set. One for the Watercolor Panel and one on a piece of My Favorite Things Kraft Cardstock. Before I added the Kraft Cardstock to my Lawn Fawn Noble Fir Cardstock Card Base, I used the My Favorite Things Woodgrain Background Stamp and MFT Kraft Hybrid Ink. To finish off my C...

Watercoloring with Zig Clean Color Real Brush

Hey folks! Ya know, one of my favorite things about Watercoloring is it can be a very forgiving medium. You can put as much work into it as you want OR you can let it do it's thing and you're good to go. Add either approach to a big beautiful Stamp and you've got yourself a deal. So, I started by stamping a Flower and some Leaves from the Beautiful Day Stamp Set by Altenew . I masked them off with Inkadinkado Stamping Mask Paper . Really, the purpose of this Stamp Set is to layer it using different inks. I love that look, but I'm a let's color kind of girl, so I just used the Outline Images. I gotta be honest, Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers are rarely my first choice. HOWEVER, if I'm looking for bold colors and something easy to use, they are my go to. I scribbled my color choices on a sheet of acetate and added them to my paper with a Brush from the Ranger Artist Brush Se t . Usually the idea is to build up color. With this, I'm adding ...
