Colorful Blooms

Hi everyone and welcome to the last day of 2016. Vera here today. Time to say good bye to 2016. What you've got plan to celebrate this new year's eve? Mine, most likely would be spent quietly at home. Hubby and I prefer to stay at home and avoid driving on new year's eve. Better to end 2016 and start 2017 safely. We probably rent movies and make it a movie night. I thought for today, it's only appropriate to close the year with my favorite kind of card. Flowery birthday card. I probably should have done new year's card, but I like to make card that I will actually send and I never really send out new year's card, except maybe for Chinese New year, since growing up, this is the new year that our family celebrate. I just love  this beautiful  Concord & 9th Hello Lovely  set. For my card, I stamped the flowers a few times to fill out the card panel. Followed with heat embossing them with WOW metallic silver embossing powder  and then colore

A Joyful New Year!

Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you today to help say goodbye to 2016! What a year it has been... But, let's move on to the cards. I have two for you today: one more traditional winter, New Year's card, and one that uses the super cute and clever Hashtag stamp set that our very own Vanessa designed. Let's get started on the details! For my first project, I wanted to create kind of an Aurora Borealis background, one that was icy and ethereal. I used my Tim Holtz Blending Tool and Hero Arts's Mint Julep , Soft Lilac , and Soft Pool inks to blend a cool background on some inexpensive watercolor paper. (I prefer the watercolor paper, because the colors seem to blend together more seamlessly since the color doesn't seep into the paper immediately.) In order to keep the mint and lilac colors from blending together and creating a brown-ish mush, I used the pool as the common denominator to kind of create a buffer between the two colors. The next step was

Best Wishes

Happy Friday everyone! Gladys here and I would like to share this card I created in celebration of the new year ahead. Whoo hoo!! Are you all ready for 2017? For my card panel I wanted to use a skyline and fireworks so what could be better than the New York skyline right? I don't have a fireworks stamp so I had to improvise a bit. I used the firework stencil from Echo Park. I knew I was going to create a night sky with distress inks so instead of distressing the stencil I embossed it instead. I didn't think it would work but it turned out pretty good and it wasn't that difficult to do. I did use tape to make sure I don't put the embossing ink where it shouldn't go then from there I poured silver pearl  embossing powder and melted it with a heat tool. I distressed the background with blueprint sketch , seedless preserves , and abandoned coral . I cut the NY skyline on black card stock and adhered it to the panel using double sided foam tape for dimension. I

You Had Me at Hello

Hello, friends! It's Janette here back at the helm. I'm popping in today to share a new favorite....  This is the My Favorite Things Wavy Coloring Book Background . If you find that it is sold out (so popular!), be sure to click the link to add your name to the waiting list. It is so worth it. It is super versatile and will have a home in my collection for a ridiculously long time. Paired with the coloring background are MFT dies Hello There and Bold Greenery . Hello was cut from a scrap of gold foiled paper and the sprigs of greenery from vellum. I then coated the greenery with Copic Opaque White . It is a matte white fluid - almost like liquid White-Out. All that yummy glimmer (which is much more shimmery in person)? Yes, that would be from the Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen . After stamping the background pattern with Versamark and embossing with white detail powder , I colored in the image with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers . I laid the color near

You Octopi My Heart

Good morning, everyone! It's Cassie here, and I'm going to be sharing my last  card as a Butterfly Reflections Ink design team member! It's such a sad thing, because I've had so much fun working with Vanessa and all the amazing products she carries, but I've loved my time as a part of her team :) For today's card I'm using some new Lawn Fawn products that are just SO sweet. Let's take a look. I started this card by stamping the octopus from the Octopi My Heart stamp set in VersaMark onto some Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock . I used a dark gray embossing powder for him, and did the same with the sentiment. Then I took out my Distress Inks and did some ink smooshing over top of the embossed octopus. Instead of going with ocean or sea colors, I decided I wanted more of a warm color combo. I used Work Lipstick, Dried Marigold, and Wild Honey to do this. In the end I did end up using a paint brush to add more color where needed. I also added a littl

Thank You For Being So Kind (& A Winner!)

One of the best things about the Butterfly Reflections Ink Shop is the variety of items and manufacturers that Vanessa carries (I can't forget to mention the super fast shipping!). It has been an absolute pleasure being on the design team and being able to showcase the products carried at the  store . Karen B. here from The Bald Dragonfly , and I've created a thank you card feauturing products from many companies. The background was created with Concord & 9th's Tree Ring Stamp , and the focal point of the deer is from Altenew's Modern Deer . The sentiment is from Concord & 9th's Kindhearted Stamp Set and Kind Card Frame Add-on Die , along with a banner from  MFT's Blueprints #27 Die-Namic . This card also features a border from MFT's Mini Fringe Die-Namic and English Mustard Nuvo Drops . Last week we held a blog hop featuring Butterfly Reflections Ink exclusive new stamp sets  #Hashtag-Bossy  and  #Hashtag . Thanks to everyone who part

A Million Thanks!!

Hello everyone!!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!  Can you believe it's over???  Time sure does fly.  Speaking of time flying by, today is a sad day for me because this will be my last official post as a design team member for Butterfly Reflections :(.  The last four months have been awesome to say the least.  And I was really in denial up until this exact moment, that my term was over.  I am so grateful that Vanessa took a chance on me. Being a part of this group was amazing in every way! For my project today, I thought it would be fitting to make a thank you card.  I started by gold heat embossing the flower image from the  Beautiful Bouquet: Dahlia  set from WPlus9.  I stamped it repeatedly and moved the stamp around to be able to fill my entire card panel.  The Misti  worked great for this! I used my Tombow markers to watercolour the panel, as I seem to be addicted to those markers lately.  I knew I wanted the center image to be full of color so I started th

Warm Wishes Hedgehog

Hi peeps. Vera here today. The day before Christmas, where everything last minute is being done. Hah... For me, that means house cleaning as we're getting ready for company tomorrow. Sounds fun, right? ;) Anyhoo..., I  managed to squeeze in time to make this fun slider mini card. I am short on Christmas cards this year (and behind), so even now, I am still working on Christmas cards. I think that's the only downfall of being known as card maker, your family and friend expect handmade card from you. No store bought  cards. Here's what my card looks like at first glance. Then, you pull the tag out and slowly it reveals a more colorful look. Taadaaaa, here's how the card and the tag looks once the tag full pulled out. Like magic it showed a colored version. Let's start with the card base. To add subtle pattern to the card base, I stamped the card base with  MFT Sweater Stitch Background stamp . Oce that done, I created the frame u

Lawn Fawn Fishy Ornaments

Hello! It has been so fun working with such fun products and bringing you weekly projects! I hope everyone has taken advantage of the design team call! It really has been such a joy to work with the Vanessa and the other ladies! I have been crafting up a storm this week! My family loves handmade gifts at Christmas. I made a set of tag ornaments to give as a gift using some of my favorite Lawn Fawn sets ( ... but let's be honest...they're all my favorite!... ). Get ready for a photo heavy post! I started by stamping out so many images from 3 different Lawn Fawn sets - Mermaid For You , Holiday Party Animal , and Fintastic Friends . I used Versafine Onyx Black  ink and embossed it them with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder . I watercolored all of my little images with various colors of  Distress Inks  mixed with  Perfect Pearls . This has become my favorite way to color images! There's so much shimmer and shine and it's a quick relaxing wa

Perk Up

Good morning, everyone! It's Cassie here  :) It's time to perk up because we are half way through the week and it's almost the weekend! Today I've got a cutie of a card using some Greeting Farm stamps. I started by stamping the two coffee cups from the Perk Up stamp set on some Neenah Solar White paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I colored them all in and fussy cut them out. I colored the hot cups very similar, but the cold cups I colored to be strawberry, caramel, and chocolate frappes! Yum, am I right?! I ran my black Copic over the edges of each cut out cup and then I took out my Fun Faces 2 stamp set from Your Next Stamp. I love these faces from the set because you can really give anything life when you combine them with other images. I added some white gel pen details to the cups and set them aside to work on the next steps. I die cut the largest rectangle from the Lawn Fawn Large Stiched Rectangle Stackable set. I use this set on nearly every c

Concord and 9th..Merry Christmas

Hello everyone and welcome back!!  Today I'm sharing my last Christmas card of 2016.  Today's project uses stamps from Concord and 9th. I used the  Sophisticated Script  stamp set to create a custom greeting.  I wish I could write this pretty in real life!!  I decided to use the large 5 petal flower, the tiny sprig and the berries stamp from the Wildflower  stamp set.  I did all my stamping in  Versamark Ink  and used  Gold Embossing Powder . To color the images I used alcohol marker (I have ProMarkers).  I don't think there is such a thing as blue berries during the holiday season but I really love the way they look with the red flowers.  I added a load of sparkle with my  Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay Pen .  I added a layer of Glossy Accents to the berries. I thought the sentiment needed to "pop" out a bit more so I simply added some light shadows using a light grey marker. Thank you so much for stopping by!!  I wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRIS

eat.sleep.hockey.repeat. layout!

Hello! Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a layout I made of my little Menn playing hockey in our driveway in their pj's! Ha!! It was so adorable! They really would play any form of hockey for the entire day, if left to their own devices! Ha! Ok, so to start my layout, I used a photo printed at 12x12! SO fun!!! I've been wanting to do that forever! I used some colorful embellishing to add some POP! I used a strip of rainbow/white cardstock from a 6x6 paper pad  to bring in the colors at the top, and then played off those colors with the other embellishments! I used the ephemera from Pink Paislee's Fancy Free collection! I also used a few of the puffy stickers from the Crate Paper Cute Girl collection - SO ADORABLE! To add some texture to my photo/background, I used embossing paste and my FAVORITE stencil ever! I used my sewing machine to attach most of the embellishments and then finished it off with the fun title and rubber charm! Hope this

Blooming Hello

Hi peeps. How's thing going? Vera here today. Are you about ready for Christmas? I am like in between. Ever since I moved to the States, Christmas is never quite the same for me. Being away from my family often leave me with feeling of homesickness during the holiday season. And, of course.... when I feel homesick and wishing I could celebrate Christmas with my family, I often find it hard to create Christmas cards. It's funny, how I am okay with creating Christmas cards in other months, yet come December, I often find myself struggling to create one. So, instead of forcing myself to do Christmas card, I decided to just let it go and do non Christmas card instead. I fell in love with this gorgeous Concord & 9th Hello Lovely set from the moment I spotted it and just have to have it. This is such a fun set to play with. I first stamped and heat embossed the image on a piece of watercolor cardstock and then went to town coloring it ZIG Clean Color Real Bru
