Aim for the Clouds

Hello, everyone! Allison here, and  I am back today with a fun take on a shaker card. It’s called an “infinity” shaker card. That’s what I’ve seen it called in several places, anyway, so we’re going to stick with it! The fun thing about an infinity shaker card, aside from its name, is that it makes your entire card panel into a shaker. It’s also super easy and quick to make. I used a fun assortment of goodies from MFT for this card, all of which can be found in the Butterfly Reflections, Ink store . I started today’s card with this incredibly adorable dragon from the  Magical Friends set. I want to be that girl flying in the air, don’t you? I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink since I was going to use my Copic markers. There are so many fun color combinations for this dragon, but I went with my favorite color, turquoise. And the purple is for my son because he says I never use purple on cards. This is actually the second purple dragon I've made this week - did I ...

Back to Basics! Stamping with The Stamp Market and Catherine Pooler Inks

Hi all! Lindsay Lajola here on the blog today. I recently purchased some Catherine Pooler  Inks from the Butterfly Reflections, Ink store and I couldn't be more excited about them. I ordered the colors from the Spa Collection: Zen Garden and used them on these cards today. I loved them so much that I just placed another order for the Party Collection: Life of the Party ink pads as well. Vanessa has all of them in her store along with all of the refills so you're all set! I also ordered a bunch of geometric stamps from  The Stamp Market  in order to make colorful, structured backgrounds. For this card I used  Patterned Polka Dot Stamp Set  from The Stamp Market along with  Shea Butter CP Ink ,  Seafoam CP Ink , and  Midnight CP Ink . I stamped the circles overlapping and flowing from one corner diagonally to the other corner and added in the "X" stamps for some additional interest. The inks stamp really nicely, even with solid images and c...

Grand Adventures...

Hello friends!   Norine back again with a couple of quick cards to share with you today! So my oldest son is beginning an adventure where he's chucking it all and taking to the road for an indefinite period of time.  Just him and his dog, in a van.  Till the money runs out?  Exactly the thing any mother of fully grown children delights to hear, amiright?  But I'm being supportive.  I even made him a card!   I stamped the topography background stamp from Neat & Tangled onto watercolor paper, and painted  with a mix of blues and greens from the Gansai Tambi watercolor paint palette .  As it dried, the colors would lighten so I added a few layers of paint. I found some tags in my stash and cut them down to fit the stamped sentiments, also from the Topography set.  I stamped with Versafine Onyx black ink and then tied the tags with some jewelry making twine.  I finished it up with an assortment of sequins like ...

Have a Merry Christmas Deer!

Hi everyone, Jenny here.  I hope you're all having a wonderful Thanksgiving for those of you that celebrate it.   I'm certainly looking forward to stuffing my face with Turkey later!! This week I have not one but two cards, using the most wonderful christmas/wintery/fall type background stamp I think that ever existed (note: opinions are my own and in no way reflect the views or opinions of Butterfly Reflections Ink ☺☺☺☺).  It's the Hero Arts Forest and Deer Background stamp.  This was released I think early this year, but honestly it's so versatile and impactful, you just gotta get it! To create the cards I used Distress Oxide Ink in Iced Spruce.   I used Oxide for two reasons - one, I'm stamping on dark green cardstock and the Oxides act more like pigment ink (they're opaque) and show up really well on dark cardstock.   And 2) they stay sticky long enough to heat emboss without adding any additional embossing ink. I inked up th...

Eclipsed by Sequins

Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here and I'm joining you today for a dark, masculine shaker card.  I've love love loved the It's Just a Phase background stamp by Hero Arts  for so long and had this idea for a card floating around in my brain for ages.   I had to finally make it or I'd go mad! (You know what I'm talking about right? It's not just me).  To create the card, I used some 100lb navy cardstock and trimmed it down to create an A2 cardbase and also a panel which was slightly smaller than A2 (approx 4 1/8" x 5.25").  I diecut the MFT Stamps Star Shaker window from the panel.  I also diecut the frame from the same set from another piece of Navy cardstock. I treated the die cut panel with a  powder tool  and then used my  MISTI  to stamp the background stamp onto the panel using  Versamark Ink.  I then heat embossed the image using Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder  (a gorgeous warm silvery co...

Colorful Thanks

Hey there, crafty friends! It's Saturday once again so I'm happy to be on the blog today with this super colorful thank-you card. When I'm in a creative rut, I typically reach for the same technique every time--distress ink blending! I used my  Honey Bee Country Blooms stamp set  to create a super simple and quick background. I clustered the stamps all together on my acrylic block and then stamped them on to  watercolor cardstock  using  versamark  ink. When doing ink blending, I like to use watercolor paper because distress inks blend really well on the thicker watercolor cardstock. I  white heat embossed  the images and then started on the best part--the colorful ink blending! I used various colors of distress ink (Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, and Blueprint Sketch) and my  mini ink blending tool  and just let the inks do their thing! A few helpful hints on ink blending: 1. Blot off some of the ...

Vacuum Love

Hey there, friends! Its Rebekah With you for todays post! So, I am a stay-at-home mom to five, doggie momma to three and wife to one! Which essentially means I am hardly ever home, can't sit for more then five minutes at a time and I do a lot of cleaning! When I saw the  That Sucks Stamp  set by  Sunny Studio  it quickly moved to the top of my want list! There are days I could come up with 100 reasons to use this set how I imagine it was intended but I wanted to stretch it's use and make a Valentine's Day card. I started by stamping a soft texture to my card panel using the  MFT Scattered Surface Background Stamp  and  light gray ink  and then die cut using the  Rounded Rectangle In-side Out Dies  also from MFT.  I used the  Stitched Cloud Edges  to create a mask and used the  Clarity Stencil Brushes  to apply the gray ink to the inside of the die cut panel and hand drew lines to represent baseboar...
Hi, Friends! Rebekah here today!  Remember in my post a few weeks ago when I said I have a thing for mailboxes? Well, this week's card is further proof of that!  I used the  Reverse Confetti Mouse Mail  stamp set, which I am just in love with! For the background I first randomly stamped the envelopes  from the set in a soft gray ink all over the cardstock and then masked them using the  Inkadinkado Masking Paper  and then stamped over the panel with the  My Favorite Things Lined-Up-Dots  background stamp.  My Favorite Things Cement Gray  would work great for this! I colored the mailbox and the Mouse using copic markers and popped them up with foam tape. I used the  My Favorite Things Oval Stitched Frames  and mounted the little mouse and some of the envelopes on the inside of the frame. The outside of the frame is popped up using craft foam.  I stamped my sentiment using Versa Mark Ink  a...

Let's Party

Hi guys!  So very excited to be back here on the BRI.  I am completely obsessed with this card and the way it turned out.  I started by blending a background using three different distress inks - tumbled glass, squeeze lemonade, and cracked pistachio.  Then, I stamped the MFT background stamp on top.   I then used the MFT watercolor stamp set and black heat embossed it. I added a few sequins to add a little sparkle. Below, is a close up.  Hope you enjoyed!!
