Thanks

Hello, it's Rubeena with a guest post for you today!  This was a little fun to make and inspired by a challenge photo. I started with some watercolor paper that I prepped with some powder. I stamped My Favorite Thing's Lace Background Stamp with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder . Once that was heat set, I used Altenew's Thanks die to cut the word out. I cut out the words a few times using white cardstock and once with gold cardstock so I could layer the words for depth. I colored in pink using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pen in Sugared Almond Pink and added some water to spread the color. I colored in random areas with Distress Inks in Walnut Stain and Black Soot. Once all that was dry, I layered the piece over pink and black cardstock and then I matted down all the 'thanks' that were cut out. I stamped and colored some of the flowers from Altenew's Wild Hibiscus using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens. They were ad...

Congrats

Hello! Rubeena here featuring two cards where I did minimal stamping. :) Butterfly Reflections Ink is having a sale until July 12 so take advantage of some of the in-stock items now. For these cards, I was inspired by yesterday's technique with embossing paste, stencils, and layers. Some color combinations are so elegant! White, black, and gold is one of them. I started off with this fun MFT Mix-ability Tiny Triangles Stencil  and Dreamweaver Matte Black Embossing Paste  and embossed diagonally on white cardstock. using my trimmer, I cut down the piece as shown below. There were no measurements, I went with the flow. :) I taped it down on A2 cardbase with foam tape for dimension. Next, I die-cut Lawn Fawn's Scripty Congrats Lawn Cuts from metallic gold cardstock and black cardstock. I used Altenew's Doodle Blooms dies to cut out three of the leaves dies and stamped the leaves from Altenew's Doodle Blooms with Delicata gold ink. I also die-cut the small butter...

Amazing

Hello, Rubeena here with two simple cards for you. I used some of the latest releases from Avery Elle and My Favorite things. I took MFT's Lace Background Stamp , stamped it on white cardstock with VersaMark ink, and heat embossed with black embossing powder. I die-cut a rectangle size from it, smaller than A2 and then die-cut the center with MFT's Die-namics Pierced Fancy Flourish . I die-cut Avery Elle's Simply Said Amazing Elle-ments Die three times from pink cardstock and once from black cardstock. I glued them together using Glossy Accents . The first card was simple to put together: I glued down the fancy flourish die-cut in the center. I scored a frame around it with my scoring board. Then I added the 'Amazing' die-cut over it. I finished it off with black enamel dots. Here's a closer look at the depth of it. I think these colors create a beautiful contrast.  For my next card, I die-cut the fancy flourish with pink cardstock and placed i...

Hang in There

Hi,  Rubeena  here with a birthday card featuring  Tweet Tweet stamps  and  dies  from Avery Elle's latest release. This was fun to put together. I stamped all the images in Memento black dye ink and colored them with Copic Markers. I die-cut them and set them aside.  I used the large die from Wonky Stitches Elle-ments Dies to cut out the stitched background. The background was colored with Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, and Tumbled Glass and then sprayed with white and shimmer spray. I arranged all the colored pieces over it and added foam tape for dimension.  I added Zig Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush over the perch...just because. I love sparkle! The sentiment was stamped with Memento black dye ink.  Hope you enjoyed my card. Thanks so much for visiting!

Happy Birthday

Hi,  Rubeena  here with a birthday card featuring  Swim Team stamps  and  dies  from Avery Elle's latest release. Also, it is my birthday today so this is an appropriate card. ;-) To begin, I began with coloring watercolor paper with three distress inks: Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, and Stormy Sky. I added drops of water to give it a watery look. I used the two rectangle dies from  Wonky Stitches Elle-ments Dies . I'm in love with this die set! It's pretty cute and unique. I taped down the center on white cardstock base and then added foam tape around it because I was going to create a shaker card. I stamped and colored some of the sea creatures with Copic markers and fussy cut them. I stamped the sentiment, the rocks and other sea elements on the center piece using black dye ink. I added the colored pieces with foam tape and threw in some matching sequins. I added acetate sheet behind the rectangle outline that I die-cut earlier and t...

Dear Friend

Rubeena  here sharing a few cards using various sets but with the same focal image. Since I have to set aside time to craft each week, I like being able to make multiple cards (to feel more productive?!) ;-) Each one is a little different. First, I stamped the sitting elephant from WPlus9's very popular  Unforgettable  onto large white cardstock four times. I used a few warm grays to color the elephants. Using micropore tape, I masked off half of the elephant so I could blend in the bottom part with Distress Ink in Crushed Olive as grass and  Tumbled Glass  as sky (I removed the tape to cover the colored side once one side was blended. I hope that made sense! I was careful to color around the elephant. I stamped one of the grass stamps from  Unforgettable  in random spots around each elephant. Using white and black cardstock, I cut out some polaroid frames. I glued each one around the elephants and then fussy cut behind it. For one of the cards...

You Can Do It

Hello! Rubeena here with a colorful card featuring WPlus9 products. If you know me, you know I love explosion of colors and sequins. I love that I'm using butterflies for Butterfly Reflections Ink -- get it?? ;-)  I first started with WPlus9's  Small Butterfly Frame Dies . There are two dies so I die-cut the frame one out of teal cardstock and the stand-alone butterfly out of yellow cardstock. The pink one behind the yellow one was actually colored with  Picked Raspberry Distress Ink  since I didn't have any bright pink cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from WPlus9's  Encouraging Words  stamp set on white cardstock that was cut to fit behind the frame. I decided to create a shaker card and add some matching colorful sequins. I glued it down over a striped pattern paper.  I started adding droplets of Irresistable Pico Embellisher in Dandelion and Rose Bud, but for some reason it got messy. So I decided to make the background a little m...

With Love - Ruby

Hello, friends! Rubeena here featuring my first post for the Butterfly Reflections Ink Design Team ! First, let me tell you a little about myself. I started my blog a rare ruby about two years ago but was featuring poetry on there first. I discovered cardmaking accidentally in July 2014 and have since been a little out of control ;-) Currently, I’m finishing up my second master’s degree, passed my licensing exam and getting ready for my career to take off. I have lived in NJ for most of my life and have a large, close family. My interests include reading, writing, poetry, dancing, cooking, baking, and being around nature. My mother raised me to be a helpful and generous person, and cardmaking makes it so fun and easy to give people something I put together myself. It's funny that I have always wanted to be an artist, but I don't know how to draw. When I discovered stamps, it brought back that passion--except now I have images already drawn for me. :-) Here is the card I c...
