Butterfly Reflections, Ink

Hi everyone, Ashley here and I'm so happy to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog. Today, I'm sharing what I like to call an "overloaded" card - I built a scene, and then kept adding critters, and critters, and more critters, until the scene was completely overloaded! I probably could have cut out half of the images, and the card would have been just fine. Oh well - at least there's a lot to look at! I started by building the background scene. I used Distress Oxide Inks to blend the sky ( Salty Ocean ), the grass ( Lucky Clover ), the pond ( Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers ), and the cattails ( Shabby Shutters ). I also used some Lawn Fawn stencils for the sky ( Cloudy Stencil ) and the grass ( Grassy Stencil ). I splattered the panels with white paint and Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust . I used a bunch of Lawn Fawn dies to cut out the background pieces. I used the Stitched Pond die , and the Cattails Border die . I ink-blended a small pane

Hello crafty friends! Today I want to share with you a sweet card featuring two of my favorite critters by Hello Bluebird. I started by cutting a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" white rectangles and I ink blended it with tumbled glass and broken china Distress Oxide inks on top and shabby shutters and evergreen bough Distress Oxide ink on bottom. I splattered with clean water and inks loosened in a drop of water and I let it dry. I then stamped a sentiment from the "Seaside Girls" stamp set and some dandelions from the "Field Mice" stamp set with Versafine black ink  . I stamped images from the "Leaf Play" and "Easter Egg Hunt" stamp set, I colored with alcohol markers and I fussy cut them (you can use the coordinating dies to cut images and you can find them here and here ). I then die cut a white frame using the "Gallery Frame #4" die set and I built up my scene using a mix of liquid glue and foam dots.

Hi Crafty friends! Tammy here with a bright and cheerful card, sure to brighten someone's day! My slimline design, featuring Lawn Fawn , was inspired by the lovely April Mood Board. To begin, I cut a rectangular panel of Bristol smooth cardstock, using the Trinity Stamps Slimline Card Panels . I also cut a white scalloped border using the die set. Using the Cloudy Stencil , I created my sherbet colored cloudy sky by inking Distress Oxides in Shaded Lilac , Picked Raspberry,   Dried Marigold , and Squeezed Lemonade . Next, I die cut some grass from green cardstock using the Grassy Border Lawn Cuts , and lightly inked the bottom with Mowed Lawn  ink. I stamped all my images from the Dandy Day Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink  onto some Bristol smooth cardstock and colored them with Copic Markers. Hi Everyone!  I'm sharing this Mother's Day card using inspiration from this month's gorgeous mood board!  To start, I die cut a long piece of Bristol cardstock for my background using the slimline dies from Trinity stamps.  For the sky, I ink blended the following distress oxide colors (top to bottom): wilted violet , seedless preserves , picked raspberry , victorian velvet .  I splattered some water to create some interest to the background.  The background was then cut using the stitched cloud backdrop die.   The clouds were cut from vellum and white cardstock using the cloud die from the foursquare backdrop set .  I used the forest border die , stitched hillsides and stitched waves to create the rest of my scene.   Images from the following sets were used: mom and me , swan soiree,   oh gnome , butterfly kisses ,  gleeful gardens , and a bug deal .  The images were stamped using black ink and colored with copics.  The sentiment was cut from Olive

Hello my inky fingered friends. Davina here on the blog, sharing a slimline card that I made using the current April Mood Board and the new Hello Bluebird release. This was my first chance to unwrap these adorable stamps, and I chose to use the  Picked For You  set and a sentiment from  Happy Wishes . I wanted to make a tall slimline card so that I could build a woods filled portion on the top of the panel. I cut a stitched slimline panel using the middle size Trinity Stamps  Slimline Series Stitched panels ,  from Neenah and Bristol cardstock. I stamped the trees across the top by creating a little mask for the right tree. Then using the stamped grass below the trees as a guide, I cut the Bristol panel using the curved  Grassy Knoll Dies . I cut the remaining  piece with the hilly grassy die to create my bottom layer. I copic colored the trees with very light tans, and the visible strips of sky in an ombré sunset of light orange into yellow. I didn’t want to bring a whole lot

I have another waving hello card to share this week, because we're still just waving around here! I did something a bit different this week ... I used watercolors !  For each image in my scene, I stamped onto watercolor paper  (cold-pressed is best for holding more water!) and heat embossed with clear embossing powder ... this process created little borders for the watercolor paint.  To paint each image, I first layered on a diluted amount of watercolor, let it dry for a few moments and then went back to add additional splotches and details: I fussy cut each of my images (and, to make them look even more finished, traced around the cut edges with black Copic marker). I added more interest to the card by adding a layer of vellum to represent the water, and ... Hi everyone, Ashley here and I'm so excited to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog this week! Today, I decided I wanted some colour and decided to go for a rainbow effect, using Lawn Fawn's super cute A Bug Deal stamp set. This card was actually pretty simple to put together! First, I stamped out all of the bugs using Lawn Fawn's Jet Black ink , and coloured them in with Copic markers. I coloured one of each bug in each of 5 rainbow colours (red, orange/yellow, green, teal and purple). I used two shades of each colour for each bug - a light and a dark - to get some shading in the small images. After colouring and cutting out all of the images, I arranged them on a white cardstock panel and carefully adhered them all down using foam squares . I made sure to keep them as evenly and straightly placed as possible - this would have been easier if I had drawn straight lines in pencil, but I just eyeballed it! I stamped out two parts of the se

I started die cutting two stitched rectangles from white cardstock with Heffy Doodle "Imperial Stitched Rectangles" die. I ink blended the first one on top with scattered straw , tumbled glass and broken china Distress Oxide inks and I splattered with clean water and loosened inks. I die cutting the second one using "Stitched Hillside Borders" die and I put them aside. I then die cut all the pieces to build up the  "Mushroom House"  and I colored them with a mix of Distress Oxide inks and alcohol markers. I also die cut a grassy border with Hello Bluebird  "Grassy Knoll"  dies, I ink blended it with  twisted citron  and  mowed lawn  Distress Oxide inks and I glued on my base with the mushroom house. I decided to create a soft look for my background, so I die cut a 4 1/4" x 5

Hi crafty friends! I hope everyone is hanging in there, and staying safe and healthy! Today, I have a fun birthday card using the Sunny Studio Plane Awesome Stamp Set . This one was sent off to my 3 year old nephew, who is obsessed with planes. To begin, I cut a 3 1/4 X 8 1/4" panel of Bristol smooth cardstock to create my background. I ink blended the background with Distress Oxide inks in Chipped Sapphire , Blueprint Sketch,  and  Salty Ocean . I splattered some water onto it, and set aside to dry. Next, I stamped the images from Plane Awesome  and Oceans of Joy  (balloons), and colored with Copic markers. I added highlights to my colored images with a white gel pen , and cut out with the coordinating dies here  and here . Next, I stamped my sentiment from Plane awesome to the top of the card, and heat embossed with white embossing powder. . Then, I arranged the planes onto the card, cutting the one in half on the bottom, so I could add the Happy Birthday ban

Hey everyone, it's Julianne here back with some fun and easy birthday cards to have on hand. Today I'm going to be using the I Chews You Stamp Set as well as the I Chews You dies ; I have had both of these sitting on my desk for quite sometime now just waiting to be used. I have been cleaning my craft room and reorganizing lately and have realized that I may have an embellishment hoarding issue, so I decided I wanted to use some older mixes (to make room for more of course). So I picked six embellishment mixes and paired them with some Catherine Pooler inks and starting stamping. I started out by stamping the gumball outline with some Memento Tuxedo black ink onto some pre-trimmed 4" x 5.25" white cardstock and stamped the image a total of six times for six cards. Once I had each of the outline images stamped I then started stamping the solid stamps with the different colors of ink. Once I had everything stamped I used the coordinating dies to die cut out the

Layered Bouquet Good Morning Friends! It is Dana here today and I am excited to be back sharing another project with you all. For my cards today, I started with the gorgeous stamp set from PinkFresh Studio called Layered Bouquet . I did all of my stamping with Altenew Mini Ink Cubes. The colors I used were:  Tropical Forest , Golden Sunset , Cherry Blossom and Sweet Dreams . I am loving these little cubes for layered stamping. The colors blend together perfectly, and give you the right amount of shading. I highly recommend them! Once all of my stamping was done, I used the Layered Bouquet Die to cut out my flowers. For my card panel, I attached a one inch strip of the Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes paper to the left edge of my panel. I love this paper, it has just the perfect amount of shading and it looks like you ink blended it by hand. I then stamped my sentiment from the Layered Bouquet Stamp Set onto my white panel and attached this to my card front. Next, I
