Better World - Kelly Martin

Hey Friends! It's Kelly Martin here. Thanks so much for joining me today while I share this bright and spring-y card! I've had a long-standing love with this Hanging With My Gnomies stamp set from My Favorite Things. I bought it several months ago and I was so excited for a chance to finally use it! I began by stamping out all the images on Bristol Smooth cardstock . I used Versafine Clair Nocturne ink to stamp the images because I knew I wanted to watercolor them. So after I stamped the images, I applied clear embossing powder and used my heat gun to melt the powder. (I prefer using embossed images for watercoloring because it helps keep the watercolors from blending in to each other because there's a thicker border for the ink to stay within the lines!)  After the stamping was complete, I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers (along with water!) to color the images. Then, I used the coordinating dies to cut the images out.  Before assembling the images on to th...

Easy Floral Watercolor Card

Hello my fellow Butterfly Reflections Ink Craftinians! That's a mouthful isn't it,lol. Kelly Fusco here for my very 1st blog post & I couldn't be more excited.  For my card today Im using Concord & 9th Heartfelt Blossoms stamp set. Boy this is a beauty. I'm a floral stamp lover and this baby creates a perfect, easy to color floral frame.   To start off I stamped this large image onto Arches Cold Press Watercolor cardstock with Versafine Onyx & added Hero Arts clear Embossing powder on top (heat of course until melted) Then I chose my favorite Tombow markers (837,026,603,098 & 403 for the soft blue) I didn't go straight to paper. I scribbled my markers onto my glass surface and picked it up with a Ranger waterbrush and simply added the color to my images. Once done I used some prismacolor pencils for a bit of dimension & depth.  Once that was done I added some black splatter (black acrylic paint)  with a bit of water to make it spla...

Still waving ...

I have another waving hello card to share this week, because we're still just waving around here! I did something a bit different this week ... I used watercolors !  For each image in my scene, I stamped onto watercolor paper  (cold-pressed is best for holding more water!) and heat embossed with clear embossing powder ... this process created little borders for the watercolor paint.  To paint each image, I first layered on a diluted amount of watercolor, let it dry for a few moments and then went back to add additional splotches and details: I fussy cut each of my images (and, to make them look even more finished, traced around the cut edges with black Copic marker). I added more interest to the card by adding a layer of vellum to represent the water, and ... I used glossy accents to add dimension.   I also used foam tape to make certain areas (like the sand) pop. While this card is fairly simple, I think the wat...

Hope your day is sweet!

Happy Sunday!  I'm sharing this fun watercolor card using inspiration from the April mood board.  I pulled out my die sets and decided to make a card using only dies and watercolor!  Thick white acrylic paint and fun sprinkles add a bit of realism to this card.  Scroll down for a list of supplies and see how I created this card. Sending Lots of Love!

Hi Everyone!  I'm stepping outside my comfort zone with this card I've created for you today.  If you haven't already noticed, I'm more of a "scene builder" with my card designs. Today I've created a soft pastel infinity shaker card featuring Pretty Pink Posh products.  You can find all the products I used to create this card at Butterfly Reflections Ink . Starting with a piece of hot pressed watercolor paper, I stamped the background using the fall borders stamp with VersaMark ink .  Then the images were white heat embossed .  The background panel was then colored using the "ink smooshing" method.  Catherine Pooler inks: Limoncello , Tiki Torch , Bellini , Be Mine , Party Dress , Coral Cabana were used.  I absolutely love the emboss-resist pattern, don't you? After the card base was dry, I used the outside in stitched rectangle stackables die in the largest size to cut the base.  I adhered the watercolored base to an A2 piece of...

Autumn is calling!

Hi Everyone, it's Jane with another fall card for you today!  This card was made using the new Hello Bluebird stamps and dies which are available at Butterfly Reflections Ink . The images from Hello Bluebird are so adorable and can be mixed and matched to create cute fall scenes.  I absolutely love the new (and old) sets! To start this card, I cut an A2 size of Bristol smooth cardstock.  Using an ink blending tool , I blended the following Distress Oxide inks (top to bottom): wild honey , dried marigold and antique linen .  Then using the Oak Tree Scene die , I cut a piece of Lawn Fawn woodgrain cardstock in the darkest brown to create the tree.  Then on a separate piece of Bristol smooth cardstock, I used VersaFine Clair ink in nocturne to stamp the images from Hello BlueBird stamp sets Pumpkin Time and Leaf Play .  Images were then clear heat embossed and colored using Tombow ABT markers and a water brush.  The images were then cut and g...

Time for Pumpkin Spice!

Hi Everyone!  I'm here with another fall themed card. My favorite thing about fall is the colors and I used a variety of reds, pinks, oranges and yellows to create this card.  I love the bright colors mixed with the white background and black lettering!  This card also uses stamps and dies from several different companies.  I like to make the most out of my supplies and mix and match stamps and dies. To start, I created a background by cutting watercolor paper with the Lawn Fawn Fancy Scalloped Rectangle Stackables die .  Then using the Just Stitching Double Rectangles die I added a border. After masking off the edges with purple tape, I used Versamark clear ink and stamped the images from Pretty Pink Posh's Fall Borders stamp set .  Then I used black, yes BLACK embossing powder to emboss the images.  As long as you use enough powder, you should be fine!  Sentiment was stamped using the Autumn Script by Hello Bluebird . The image...

VIDEO - Bursting with Fun! | Stencils and Color Burst

Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here, and I'm so thrilled to be returned to the BRI blog - and I have LOTS of cards for you today - SEVEN!  I'm focusing on using stencils with Color Burst watercolor powders.    I'm using the just released Catherine Pooler Color Burst collection, and Butterfly Reflections Ink carries tons of other gorgeous colors in the store . For all my cards I'm using cold press watercolor cardstock .   You can check out the full video over on  YouTube .   My first two cards use the Catherine Pooler Designs (CPD) Perfect Vine stencil.  I laid out two sheets of cold press cardstock and on one I laid down the stencil, and then spritzed clear water  over the top with a Mini Mister .  I then quickly picked up the stencil and flipped it over onto the other piece of cardstock, pushed down to press the water remaining on the stencil into the cardstock and then lifted it up. Now for the fun part! ...

Watercolored Piggies at the Beach

Hi there!  It's Andrea with you today, and I'm so delighted to be guest-designing on the BRI blog! Slimline cards are wildly popular on social media, and I couldn't resist making one with those cute piggies from Hello Bluebird's Beach Babes set.  The card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2", which lets you use alot of images on one card without it being overcrowded.  Another bonus is that with one 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock you can create both your cardbase and front panel.  Score! I stamped all of the images with Versafine Onyx Black ink and watercolored them with my Zigs.  Once they were dry, I cut them out with my scissors (Coordinating dies are available, however). To create my background, I first masked off the horizon line with postit tape.  With MFT's Drifts & Hills Stencil in place, I inked up the water with Mermaid Lagoon distress ink.  I used Neat & Tangled's Rice Paddies stencil with the same ink to create ...
