A Warm Welcome!

Hi everyone!!!  As some of you may (or may not) know, I decided to open my shop more than 2 years ago.  After discovering YouTube, I was doing a lot of haul videos and had always dreamed of opening my own store so it just kind of made sense and fell into place.  The YouTube girls, my FRIENDS, really made the start of my business possible and I would like to say a big THANK YOU to those of you visiting me here from there!  :)  For those of you that don't "know" me, my name is Vanessa Middleton.  I am a wife, mom of 3, part time employee at an arts and crafts store and of course, business owner!  I grew up and still live in NH where we recently bought a house last year.  I've been a cardmaker/scrapbooker/stamper/collector (haha) for a longgg time.  My oldest is almost 18 and I  remember taking my first scrapbooking class when he was an infant.  Prior to that, my dad had bought me my very first stamp (AllNight Media style) when I was maybe in junior high, if not elementary school.  While my website is relatively new (about 6 months), I feel like I've come a long way and attended CHA in January.  It was amazing to meet so many people who I've seen and gotten to know in the industry for so long, it was almost surreal.  It's funny how they become almost famous, but yet I still felt like I belonged.  <3  I look forward to continuing the friendships I've made and to making new ones as well.

Before going any further, I need to thank another wonderful friend, who without her help, my website would not be up and running.  She helps me more "behind the scenes", but elly burian, I am extremely grateful and forever thankful for all you've done and continue to do.  Thank you for being so dedicated.  I truly appreciate you and our friendship. xo

This is me at CHA and seeing my name on that badge was an EXTREMELY proud moment for me.  I called my husband and he said "How'd it feel?".  He just got it.  Without him and his support, this wouldn't be possible either.

So enough about ME!  I want to give a warm welcome to my brand new Design Team Coordinator and very good friend, Shawna Webster.  She is joining me as a part of the Butterfly Reflections, Ink. team and I look forward to working with her.  She will be heading up the Design Team. (Yes! I said Design Team... stay tuned for details!). Shawna has been on many DTs such as Prima, Little Yellow Bicycle, Crate Paper, Colorbok and most recently, Pebbles in 2013. I'm very lucky to have her and appreciate her willingness to work with me.  She's a fabulous (and quick! LOL) scrapper and I admire her talent.  Keep reading to learn a little about Shawna and to see some of her creations!

Hi everyone! My name is Shawna and I am really excited to be a part of this new
team!  Vanessa is a great friend and person to work for and I hope that I can make her proud!  Currently I
am a stay at home mom of two kiddos. I have been married to my soldier hubby for almost 14 years. We all live in sunny Hawaii for now with an upcoming move to Washington. I have been
scrapbooking for about 13 years. I also love to make cards and other paper crafts as well. I look forward to helping inspire you with all the other upcoming members of the Butterfly Reflections, Ink. team!

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things...

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any wate...

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew , one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog , and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN! With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon  creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink  and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products .   First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set .   I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored.   I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge...
