Labor Day Challenge

Hi, everyone! The DT is off this weekend so I thought we'd put up a challenge.(Thank you, Amanda, for the mood board.) Here on the east coast the weather has changed dramatically and it feels like FALL, my favorite season. Others are sad to see summer go, but I am quite happy to welcome fall and all that comes along with it: cooler weather, warmer clothes (love my jeggings and tall boots), changing leaves, apple picking, pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING... hahaha Is it four seasons where you live? What's YOUR favorite? Please play along by creating a project incorporating the season you prefer best. Are you hanging on to summer with the sunshine, warmth, beach bound with your toes in the sand? Or are you eager to put on those sweaters and grab a hot latte? You have until Monday, September 1st to enter. The winner will receive a $25 store credit to the shop! Also, all weekend through Monday, take 20% off your entire order. No code necessary, excludes the new Lawn Fawn release....

Acrylic Butterfly Mini Album

Hi Everyone!  I have always professed my love for acrylic albums.  They are great for brag books to be displayed.  They also give a light and airy feel that is perfect for a little girl's album.  Vanessa sent me this adorable butterfly mini album .  I printed 2x2 and 3x3 photos to put in this album and used frames from The Pier and Maggie Holmes .  I embellished it using papers from Basic Grey , flair from Crate Paper, and buttons from Dear Lizzy .  I kept it really simply so the cute pictures would be the star!     Hope you enjoyed! --Nicole

But most of all...today is Release Day for the new  Lawn Fawn  products everyone is drooling over! And guess what? They are available NOW in the  BRI store ! Check out the amazing selection! So on to my project... Let me confess... I am falling in love with the premade embellishments for cards/layouts! I have been turning to them lately when I need to make a card in a flash! Have you seen those latest card challenges, 10 minutes or less? I would never had been able to complete this challenge if I had to create every piece by hand! But these premade pieces make it doable! Here is the card I created with the premade embellishments matching the Fancy Pant's Burlap & Bouquets Collection: To make the card stand out, I decided to create a shaped card versus a regular card. The front is covered with 2 different patterned paper. I...

Happy HUMP Day!!!!  Danielle here with a Masculine Birthday Card.  If your like me you are in need of more masculine cards for your stash. For this card I decide to make my own background using Paper Smooches - Wicked Nauticool stamp set.  This is a great set for the guys in your life!!!   I stamped using the following inks, Hero Arts - Mid Tone Navy , Delicata Golden Glitz  Ink ,  and a few other Hero Arts colors.  The card still need a bit of color behind the hand made background paper to make it POP!  I dug out my Carta Bella - Ahoy There Paper pad....I just love this collection!  To add my Happy Birthday Sentiment, I chose the Avery Elle stamp set .  I just love the large greetings in this set to me the focal point of any card.  I just stamped it on a piece of vellum from my stash and sewed it on for some extra texture. hello my friend

Hello everyone, its Chitra here with a card to share.. I played with the beautiful papers from Echo Park Capture Life.. Don't you love that paper, every single pattern in this pad is gorgeous... I have used Avery Elle's Simply Said hello die on the design paper and also on plain white cardstock. Then I stacked up all pieces together to create five thicker die-cuts and adhered them to the card base. Here is a close up.. The image is also from Avery Elle called Red and Goldie, I colored this cutie with Copics. I so wanted to try this technique and I am happy how this turned out.. Hope you liked it too. You can check all the products in the shop here .. Hugs, Chitra

Dry Embossing Techniques to Try!

Hello!  Lisa here with another Guest spot here on the Butterfly Reflections Ink Blog, yay!!!  Today I'm doing something a bit different and focusing on techniques rather than a step by step project, so I hope you like it!  I wanted to take a product and really show lots of different ways to get the most out of it, and the biggest bang for your buck, so I went with one of my favorite products in Vanessa's store the We R Memory Keepers Embossing Folders (seriously, you have to click the link to see just how gorgeous these are for yourself).  There are many reasons I love these embossing folders , one being that they are larger than the normal embossing folders making them great for covering larger areas, two their details are gorgeous, and you get two in a pack!  So I have taken one of these embossing folders and am sharing a few ways to get more bang for your buck... Technique #1 Distressed Embossing: To create this look simply emboss onto colored cardsto...

Happy Birthday

Hello scrappy friends, it's Joann here with a birthday card! When Vanessa sent me the  Fancy Pants- Burlap & Bouquets Ephemera Pack ,  I knew I had to have the paper pad.  I feel in love with the colors and patterns in this line...oh so pretty! So with that said, here is today's card! I chose a few of my favorite patterns from the  Fancy Pants-Burlap & Bouquets Paper Pad for my card and stamped and embossed my sentiment using  Avery Elle - Cake & Candles Stamp Set on  a piece of vellum.  I took the  Maya Road- Hexagons Chipboard Set and cut 2 of the smaller hexagons in half and used   Avery Elle Mint to Be Pigment Ink  to color my hexagon pieces. I added some foam adhesive to the center piece in order to bring some height and to be able to slide the hexagon pieces underneath. Finally, added some MME Enamel Dots to finish my card. Hope you enjoyed and leave this post inspired! Thanks for stopping by! Suppli...

Corn Hole

Hi Everyone!  I'm back with a layout using a BUNCH of items from the store.  I had these adorable pictures of Reagan playing Corn Hole with her dad when we spent the weekend at the beach with family. I just love how yellow and blue look together and this layout was the perfect opportunity to use them.      I still had some leftover Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine and thought since this is a summer themed layout, hey why not?!  Vanessa also sent my some Fancy Pants buttons with a nautical theme.  That's what gave me the idea to do a layered cluster of embellishments below the photos.  I used these frames from both The Pier collection and Maggie Holmes to ground them.   I backed my journaling card from Jillibean Soup with paper from the Echo Park paper. I hope you guys enjoyed and use this layout style as a sketch for your next layout!  ---Nicole

Happy Monday!!! Danielle here with a fun nautical card for you today.  I love how the nautical theme is very trendy this summer.  I live in Florida..so this is everyday life for me!  I recently got the Avery Elle Stamp set - Surfs Up and the Echo Park Ahoy There 6x6 paper pad . I thought they worked perfectly together.  I used some versamark ink and clear embossing powder to have the fun windy clouds in the background. I love the subtle look I achieved.  I then used the Hero Arts Mid Tone Ink in Navy  to stamp the Mahalo a few times.  It matches perfectly!  I then cut a banner out of some vellum in my stash.  Stamped and embossed my Happy Birthday sentiment on the Echo Park Paper. To finish it off I added a piece of bakers twine! BAM! Ta-Da!  The goodies I used can be found in the Butterfly Reflections Ink Shop! Distress Ink Sending Love Card

Hello Everyone, its Trish here and I'm back for my second post as a guest designer this month. Today, I'm pulling some inspiration from a recent card class I took from Online Card Classes called "Stretch Your Stamps 2".  In the class, one of the examples on how to stretch your background stamps was to create an ombre look with some distress inks. I loved this idea so much that I decided I would use it with some new embossing folders that I just recently received from the BRI Store .   After I've embossed my heavy weight card stock I'm taking 3 of the inks from the Mini Distress Ink Pads Kit #1  and using my mini ink blending tool to blend the colors and create an ombre look. From the Lawn Fawn Stitched Banner die set , the stitched circle was cut out of vellum and heat embossed using some Fine Detail White embossing powder (I forgot to use my anti static tool and thus got a little extra powder where I didn't want it).  I used some of the Kool-...

distress ink technique with my head in the clouds

Hi there! It's Samantha here, and I'm SUPER excited to share this card with you all today! Did you know that Butterfly Reflections Ink has THEIR OWN STAMPS now?! Oh yeah! Have you seen them? They're designed by Shanna Noel , and they're SO COOL!! I used both sets ( Head in the Clouds and Over the Rainbow ) for my card today! Along with some enamel dots (swoon - i'm addicted to enamel dots ...and the Butterfly Reflections Ink store has the cure! ... MORE enamel dots ! lol!) Ok, here's my card: I used a bunch of shades of blues/teals distress inks , stamped the solid cloud image onto some Tim Holtz watercolor paper , and the spritzed it with my mister! I LOVE the bleed look! I also did the same with the tiny heart image, for some pops of red! :) Then I put a vellum banner over top and heat embossed in white the sentiment and open cloud with the cutest smiley face ever! :) That panel was popped up over some glittery gold tape to go with...
