...A baby elephant holding a bunch of balloons, of course!!!
Hi! Emily Midgett here for my first official blog post for the Butterfly Reflections Ink Design Team. I am so overjoyed to be here with such wonderful company!!
I have long loved this darling little elephant stamp from Wild Rose Studio, so I was delighted that Vanessa had it in her shop! I'd not been able to find it anywhere, and lo and behold it was in the BRI shop just waiting for me. And, if you've ever been to my blog, you know that I have had a love affair with my Zig Clean Color markers for the last several months. I almost feel like I'm cheating on my markers if I don't use them on a project, but that's a different blog post. The Zig markers and this sweet little ellie were a great combo.
Some friends of ours are having a gender reveal party for their little baby this weekend, and my hubby and I can't make it, so my plan was to send them a card to congratulate them. I obviously needed to be prepared for either possibility, so I decided to indulge my coloring obsession and create a girl and boy version:
I started by heat embossing the image onto some Strathmore 300 lb cold-press watercolor card stock with some Silver Pearl embossing powder. I then colored the balloons with a variety of pinks and peaches for the girl card, blues for the boy card. After I finished coloring the sweet little images, I added some white gel pen to the balloons to make them look shiny. I decided to use the Hero Arts Little One stamps for the greeting in Hero Arts Charcoal ink.
I matted the watercolored panels with some silver glitter paper from DCWV, then mounted them on card bases from Bazzill (Candy Hearts and Lush Lagoon). The final touch was some sequins to add a bit of sparkle.
I hope you enjoyed my first blog post! I am so very excited to be here.
Also, if you haven't already heard and placed your order, Vanessa is having a HUGE sale in the shop! EVERYTHING is 20% off through Monday, September 7! Just use code LABORDAY2015 to get 20% off of everything on the site, including sale and clearance items!! Go forth and shop! :)
