Welcoming our new Design Team members for the next term!

Hi, everyone!!! I'm a week late in sharing the new Design Team members for the next term. I'm sure, like everyone else, the second half of December FLEW by with the holidays approaching and now here we are. It seems the time keeps going by quicker and quicker. My mom always warned me that when I got older this would happen. I guess I'm "older" now. :P So let's DO THIS!

Our first new DT member has been a Guest Designer for the shop before and she's a dear friend of mine. It was funny receiving her application "introducing" herself because I'm like "I know HERRRR" kind of like the movie Elf. hahaha You probably know Christy Reuling aka ChristyGetsCrafty on YT and Instagram. Christy is from PA, married, a mom of 3 boys, works at a craft store and pottery studio and still finds time to 'get crafty' much like her handle says!!! She's been on the Crafters Companion DT and has also served on the Lawnscaping team. She's a fabulous colorer and enjoys critter stamps the most. Psssst. Did you know she LOVES polar bears?

Our next member is brand new to blogging. In fact, she doesn't even have her own blog, but I've quickly become a HUGE fan of hers over at NickyNooCards on IG as I'm sure many others have as well. From what I can gather, she's only been on there for a few months and already has 1000 followers. WOOT! Also, you know I enjoy giving newbies a chance. I feel like there are SO many talented ladies out there and while it's great to have people that are well known, it's also special to help get new crafters into the DT scene and see them grow. I actually messaged Nicky about joining us and I'm glad she decided to go for it!!! Give a warm and encouraging welcome to Nicky Meek! Her soft and sweet style is just so lovely! I mean how cute is thissss?

Next up we have Ashley Marcu. Ashley is a mom of 3, volunteers at her children's school and has taught at her local stamp stores. She serves on the Avery Elle and Right at Home Design Teams and she's also designed for Paper Smooches, Bella Blvd, Crate Paper and more. Oh how I love her CAS style, backgrounds and adorable scenes. I love how she created the tree for this card and who doesn't love HAPPY MAIL?! <3

Next up we have Rebekah Weckerly joining us. You can find her on IG here. Rebekah is a stay-at-home mom to 5 active kids and she's a runner herself. (Girl, I don't know how people run for fun! haha) She's been on the Cocoa Daisy kit club DT and a few others as well. I just loved these sweet reindeer and how they were colored. I don't know Rebekah very well, but am looking forward to getting to know her and the other girls.

Let's say BONJOUR to Kimberley Hamilton. HA! Kim is from Canada, she's a Communications Director for a school board and is bilingual. She's served previously on the Lawnscaping fit team and designs for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge blog. I am totally in LOVE with this card and impressed with Kim's coloring. If you're not following Kim, please go and do so. She's been posting some beautiful cards and I feel like she should definitely have more than 300 followers. ;)

Last, but certainly not least we're welcoming Mayra Duran! You can find Mayra blogging at Mayra's Designs and on IG which is one of my favorite places to be. HA! Mayra is on the Craftin' Desert Divas DT and is also involved with several challenge blogs. She has a way with scenes and her coloring is fabulous to the max! Add a bit of sparkle and BAM, we have Mayra.

I hope you'll find inspiration from the new team and their creations! As usual, I would like to thank everyone that took time to apply to be on the team. I really do appreciate your time, effort and enthusiasm. Thanks so much for your continued support, it really is truly appreciated more than I could ever express in words. I look forward to what's in store for 2017. Happy New Year!!!

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things  Snuggle Bunnies  for the girl and Magical Dragons for th

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew , one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog , and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN! With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon  creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink  and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products .   First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set .   I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored.   I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge, then tore the vel
