Hey there, crafty friends!
It's Saturday once again so I'm happy to be on the blog today with this super colorful thank-you card.
When I'm in a creative rut, I typically reach for the same technique every time--distress ink blending!
I used my Honey Bee Country Blooms stamp set to create a super simple and quick background. I clustered the stamps all together on my acrylic block and then stamped them on to watercolor cardstock using versamark ink. When doing ink blending, I like to use watercolor paper because distress inks blend really well on the thicker watercolor cardstock. I white heat embossed the images and then started on the best part--the colorful ink blending!
I used various colors of distress ink (Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon, and Blueprint Sketch) and my mini ink blending tool and just let the inks do their thing! A few helpful hints on ink blending:
1. Blot off some of the excess ink on scratch paper as soon as you ink up your blending foam piece.
2. Start the blending motion off your project and then slowly work your way on to your project. This will prevent any harsh lines and help with the blending.
3. Use the lighter color to cover the darker color when you get to the point where the two colors meet. This will improve the look of your colors blending.
After the background was finished, I put together the portion that has the sentiment on it.
I cut a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of white cardstock and then ran it through my trimmer at an angle to create the off-set top panel. I had to suspend some serious OCD tendencies while I did this because it's not in my normal sphere of comfort, but I loved the end result!
I used the Lawn Fawn Scripty Thanks word die and cut the word "thanks" from black cardstock. I then used a small strip of the same black cardstock and white heat embossed the sentiment from the WPlus9 Hand Lettered Thanks stamp set.
After finishing the whole sentiment panel, I put some foam tape to the back of the panel and adhered it to my background. I love the look that the dimension gave to the sentiment panel and the fact that it popped even more against the colorful background.
Hope you enjoyed today's card, and thanks for stopping by today!
