Happy Saturday, Crafty Friends!
I'm back on the blog today with this fun little shaker card!
My younger brother celebrated his birthday last month, and I wanted to make him smile with this fun card. He appreciates goofy little characters, and so I thought he'd enjoy getting this for his birthday.
I started by stamping the images from the My Favorite Things You Gnome Me stamp set on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. This paper is great for coloring images when you want to get good blending with your coloring media. I used my Distress Markers to color the images and then fussy cut them out. I set them aside and started working on the shaker window.
Because I knew I wanted to make shaker card, I actually solidified my plan for the card panel first. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Stackables die to die-cut the gray kraft panel. I also used my hickory smoke distress ink and my ink blending tool to treat the edges of the panel, just to add some texture and depth. I used the My Favorite Things Homespun Stitch Lines die to cut the cream colored back piece that went behind my shaker window and adhered that to the gray panel.
I die cut several frames with the My Favorite Things Rounded Square Frame die and glued them together and then adhered the stack of frames to the gray card panel, framing the cream colored back piece. I filled in the shaker "well" with several sequins from the Pretty Pink Posh Spring Meadow mix, and then glued a piece of clear acetate on top of the shaker well. I finished the shaker window by adhering one final yellow rounded frame on top of the well.
I glued the gnome and mushroom images on to the sides of the shaker window and then finished the card by using one of the sentiments from the stamp set. I stamped it in my favorite black ink on white cardstock and then mounted that on a scrap piece of patterened paper. I wrapped this mounted sentiment around the edges of my card panel and then glued the final panel on to my card base.
I had tons of fun creating this card and giving it to my brother made it even better!
Thanks for stopping by today and happy crafting!
