Hey everyone! It's Ashlea, and I'm really excited to be sharing this card I created using the Bountiful Branches layering stamp set by Altenew. If you're familiar with Altenew, you know their layering sets are always swoon-worthy and this set is no exception. I absolutely love the detail on these branches. The looks as if they were drawn right on my card front by an artist. I love seeing these images come together as I'm stamping and seeing the final product. I'm always so surprised that I just created that! Let's get into some details of the card.
To begin, I used Catherine Pooler's It's A Boy ink to ink blend my entire 4" x 5 1/4" card front. I love the light blue color and thought it would lend itself really well to a cheery, holiday branch Christmas card. Because the blue is so light, I was able to begins stamping right on top of the ink blend. Let me warn you now, this layering set is not for the faint of heart. For the leaves I used CP Garden Party, CP Grass Skirt, CP Spruce, for the sticks I used Icing On The Cake, and for the berries I used Polished, Samba, and Peppermint Scrub. While it comes out perfect every time, it's not without effort. The little bits and pieces you have to line up in this set are very small, so you'll have to pay close attention when lining up. The leaves are the toughest part, though, because once you're stamping the berries, it's pretty clear where they fit in.
I stamped these all over the card front in no real method, just enough to create a background but not a real pattern. I wanted it to look sporadic and random. The dots came in sort of by accident. I had that pen open in my hand deciding whether or not I wanted to create dots. As I was holding it, I decided I did NOT want to do dots and at that moment the pen fell onto the paper. Thankfully it created just a small perfect dot, but I took that as a sign and dotted all around.
The sentiment included in the set is fairly large and I really wanted a stacked sentiment for this card. So, I dug through my stash and pulled out these small sentiments from the MFT Snowglobe Sentiments set. I embossed them in white on black card stock and chose lots of adjectives and the final "Seasons Greetings" sentiment. I decided to stack them a bit crooked to add a little whimsy to the card that I think is supported by the dots around the branches.
I really love that this stamp set can be used year round. If you just stamp the leaves a bit lighter and the berries yellow or orange, you'd instantly have a spring or summer card!
