Hello stir-crazy crafters!
I think we can all agree that this has been an incredibly hard week or two. I would have thought that quarantining myself in my house would mean I have tons of time for crafting, but I feel like I have less time than ever! I'm in my last two weeks of my online classes, I have 6 kids doing "online at-home learning" and I'm so stressed out and anxious, I'm having major problems concentrating on any task for more than 3 minutes. Not really how you want to feel a week before finals!
Anyway....when I sat down to make a card, I immediately knew which set I wanted to use. I just knew that these little Mama Elephant families were the perfect thing for this week's post! The best thing about the last two weeks has been the time spent with my family. Today, I had 4 of my 6 kids snuggle up in my bed with me to watch "Frozen 2". It was pretty much a dream come true. Doing Kindergarten worksheets with my 6 year old has been truly delightful! We're spending way too much of our evenings on screens, but it's not a battle I'm willing to fight at the moment. Especially since it snowed again today! Without further ado, here it is. A tribute to all you Mom's who are trying so hard to take care of your kids during these scary times! You're amazing!
- Mama Elephant Family Time Stamp and Die Set
- Waffle Flower Crafts Circle Dies
- Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Dies
- Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad
- Ranger Multi Medium Matte Adhesive
- Copic Sketch Markers
This was a pretty simple card to make. I really just wanted to enjoy the process and have it be therapeutic, since I've been so stressed. I stamped my images with my Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad onto my white paper. I wanted the colors to be as soft and soothing as possible, so I went through and grabbed anything that felt like that to me. The soft yellows, tans, pinks and grays were what I went for. You might notice that the Mom's are really the stars in this card. Normally, I might have highlighted the cute babies with the dominant colors, but I wanted this to be all about the Mom's (these could easily be Dad stamps too, but I wanted a Mother's Day card, so that's how I interpreted them). After they were all colored, I die cut them with their coordinating dies.
I found this soft and pretty flowered cardstock and cut it out using my Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Dies, then cut two circles out of it for some of my little characters to sit in. I popped the patterned paper up using fun foam and attached it to some white cardstock for the background. After I did that I realized that I wanted the deer and koalas to look like they were sitting on the ground, so I quickly drew a ground for them with a tan Copic Sketch Marker.
Finally, I attached everything with my Ranger Multi Medium Matte Adhesive and left it to dry. Once it was dry, I added the little sentiment inside the bottom circle.
I really hope you're taking care of yourself! This situation is so stressful. Take some time to craft today, go for a walk or a drive, paint your nails, take a long bath, watch your favorite movie or show, try some meditation, eat your fruits and veggies and please, stay safe and well!
Lots of love!
Saedi
This is a delightful card!
