May All Your Dreams Come True!

Hi everyone, Ashley here and I'm so happy to be back at the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog! Today I'm sharing a slimline card that I created using a whole bunch of Lawn Fawn stamp sets.

A bit of backstory: just about one year ago, my husband and I went on a mini-honeymoon to Disney World immediately after our wedding. I am a huge Disney fan, and my husband had never properly been to the parks. It was the most magical vacation and we had the best time ever. We had been hoping to go back this year but, like so many others, our travel plans got shelved due to the pandemic. I've been trying to re-make the magic at home as much as I can to ease the pain of missing out on the trip - I even tried to make some classic Disney World treat recipes at home - and, in this card, I tried to create some of my favorite parts of the Magic Kingdom.

I made this a slimline card so that I would have more space to accommodate all the images I wanted to include. I am still (somewhat) patiently waiting to receive my order of the new Lawn Fawn slimline dies (Vanessa from Butterfly Reflections, Ink shipped the order SUPER fast, but the post has been understandably slow these days), so I simply cut the pieces out of cardstock using my regular paper trimmer instead.

I started by blending the background. I used a small finger blending tool to make a pathway out of gray ink. I then blended Distress Oxide inks (Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn) onto the bottom to look like grass, and Distress Oxide inks (Spun Sugar, Milled Lavender, and Tumbled Glass) onto the top for the sky. I splattered the entire panel with Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust for an added shimmer.

Then, I stamped out all of the images in Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink and coloured them in with Copic markers. The stamp sets I used for this card (all Lawn Fawn) were:

I arranged the images onto the card to mimic some of my favorite locations in the Magic Kingdom. From left to right: Main Street USA, Cinderella's Castle, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates of the Caribbean, and of course a popcorn stand! I also used a black marker to add some ears to the balloons, turning them into Mickey balloons. I coloured the fairy to look like Tinker Bell!

After making this card, I'm super inspired to make more Disney-themed cards using all of my Lawn Fawn supplies. I hope I've inspired you to stretch your supplies to something unexpected as well!

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer. I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks . I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things...

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello! Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog . It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink! Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards. What do I mean, you wonder? Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color. For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks. You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color. First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set . I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored. I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .
