I've really been into die-cutting lately. When I first started into the world of card-making, I was pretty much just using coordinating dies for stamped images and not really looking at stand-alone die sets very much.
But so many of our favorite companies have released some really great stand-alone die sets, and I started to really love die-cut only cards. If you enjoy puzzles and putting things together, then die-cut cards are for you!
All the dies I used in today's card are from Lawn Fawn. I used the Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-On Die, a picket fence die, and the Quilted Backdrop background die.
I just used a piece of gray-colored cardstock I had in my scrap stash to make that background and adhered it to a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base - nothing fancy!
In regards to techniques I used to create this card, there aren't any! Isn't that a relief?! I'm not a very technique-heavy cardmaker, so I really enjoy just gluing things together and laying them down on a card!
After I die-cut all the pieces and glued them together, it was time for the fun part - adding the color! I used Distress Oxide inks to color all of my die cuts and applied the color using an ink blending tool.
Here are the colors I used:
Birdhouse - Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon (roof and base), Antique Linen (body), Tea Dye and Vintage Photo (Stand)
Fence Slats - Antique Linen
Bird - Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Forest Moss
Flowers - Shaded Lilac, Worn Lipstick, Squeezed Lemonade, Abandoned Coral, Wild Honey, and Mustard Seed
Leaves - Bundled Sage, Mowed Lawn
After I colored all the diecuts, I just used liquid adhesive to glue them down to the card and then used a sentiment from the Simply Sentiments stampt set to create that greeting in the center of the birdhouse.
