Hello, Everyone - it's Allison, and I am excited to be up on the blog today with this card that was inspired by the new December mood board. Everything that I used for this card can be found in the Butterfly Reflections, Ink online shop.
Before I get to my card, have you seen this month's mood board? It could not be more gorgeous!! You must play along with the mood board challenge this month. I know that I'm going to be making more cards with this palette.
There's a lot going on with the window. First, I cut a Christmas tree from Concord & 9th's Iconic Christmas die set, added a die cut star on top, and then finished it with some white gel pen ornaments. I adhered that to a yellow background and then glued on some light blue curtains. I adhered some vellum to the back of the window frame before attaching it so that it would give the window a frosted look. Of course, I had to add a cute awning on top.
Before adhering the door and its frame, I stamped a string of lights from the Party Lights stamp set from My Favorite Things along the lower portion of the camper. The set comes with a die that allows you to cut lights from paper versus stamping them, and that is what I did. I glued those down, attached the door and then covered the lights with Nuvo Crystal Glaze.
For my background, I took an A2 sized piece of white card stock and masked off a snowy hill using the Stitched Hillside Borders die set from Lawn Fawn. I then stamped the panel with the Snowflake Swirl stamp from Hero Arts with VersaMark ink. I heat embossed it with one of my favorite embossing powders - Aged Marine Embossing Enamel by Stampendous. There are so many different colors of this embossing enamel - each one has its own unique qualities. The one I used has little gold flecks in it, and I just love the effect.
I adhered the camper to the panel and then decided it needed something extra, so I made the wreath. The base of the wreath is actually the donut shape from the tire - I just cut it from green card stock. I then used little pieces of branches from Altenew's Branches and Berries die set to create the wreath. I finished it with a few tiny white paper dots and a yellow bow I made from ribbon. I really was trying to stick to the greens and blues of the mood board, but I felt like the yellow gave the card a pop of color without straying too far from the palette. I finished the card by stamping the sentiment underneath the camper - this comes from the Trio of Trees stamp set from My Favorite Things.
That's it for my card today. Now it's your turn to play with that mood board! You could win a $20 gift certificate to the BRI online shop - just tag your creations on social media with #brimoodboard.
Wishing you all a crafty day -
Allison Frazier
