Butterfly Reflections, Ink

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing one of my favorite techniques with you that I used to create this fall inspired card! It's a simple technique but very impactful, and can be used with any color scheme imaginable! Check it out- I created the background with the ever reliably awesome Distress Inks . All you need is a few colors and a simple mask, I used a scrap piece of paper. You start with one color at the bottom of your card and ink blend upwards with alternating colors and angles of the mask, creating a background full of impactful color and interest. I used some beautiful shades of autumn but I can't wait to use some cool blues and soft purples for a winter themed card. I added some water drops and white splatter for some additional interest. To finish off the card I added a zig zag rectangle panel in white (to calm myself down from the non-CAS background) and a Bitty Bear with the most adorable little umbrella. Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here and I'm back with another fall themed card, this time using a fun technique that you might have seen on my card shown for the Design Team Introductions blog post here .  I've got a full breakdown of how you can do this technique here, with a bit of twist. To create this card or one similar, you ideally need a die that has lots of 'compartments' or sections.  I used the Neat & Tangled Maple Thanks leaf die.  They also recently brought out an  Oak Leaf die which would work perfectly (it's on my wanted list !)  You'll also need some liquid medium such as Nuvo Drops (here I used Nuvo Jewel Drops in Pale Periwinkle which dries translucent but the solid and glitter drops, or even just Glossy Accents work just as well) First you need to create a good frame for your drops.  I've tried a number of ways to do this but by far the best way that worked for me was die cutting the shape from thick cardstock (100lb+) four ti

Hello, again!  Andrea back with you today to share a cute Halloween card. Isn't this kitty from Newton's Nook adorable?!  You know what's even better?  He's on sale in the BRI store here !  After I had stamped him with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink , I colored him with my Copics and cut him out.  Then it was time to work on the background! The grass was ink-blended with Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, and a touch of Black Soot distress inks.  (FYI:  Distress inks are on sale in the BRI store, too!)  Once the ink was dry, I die-cut it a grassy border die.  The back panel was created with Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Broken China, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot distress inks.  I flicked on some water droplets as well as some watered-down white paint. After giving my background plenty of time to dry, I stamped some bats from Newton's Perfect Pumpkin with  Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder

Hi there!   Jacquie here with a card that was super fun to make!  I have really not made many pop up cards, and I have no idea why, because they are not that hard, and what a fun card to give someone! I stamped all the adorable images from Darcie's Heart and Home set, May The Forest Be With You, and colored them with Copic markers. I used my new favorite alcohol marker friendly Black Ink from Altenew. I then inked up a panel using Distress Inks (Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Fossilized Amber and Concord Preserves).  I added stars using a white gel pen.  I added the panel to the inside of an A2 card that I cut from black cardstock. For the pop up, I used the Lawn Cuts Stitched Hillside Pop-up Die.  This made the pop up really easy and the assembly was super fast and simple.  I adhered the colored images from Darcie's May the Forest Be with you set and made it look like the owl and fox were having a campfire marshmallow roast! Hi, guys! It's Kevin here again sharing this super cool birthday card with you! One of my favorite color combos is black and white with a pop of color. Check it out- I used the utterly adorable honey pot bear from the  Bitty Bears stamp set from MFT as my focal image. He is layered onto some vellum to dull the plaid paper behind him. I used a scalloped border die on the plaid paper to add some pizazz, since this is a pretty clean and simple card- yet there are sequins and twine - sort of a lot for my CAS style but I think everything seems to work okay together. The sentiment is from the same set, stamped onto a speech bubble cut from MFT's Essential Speech Bubbles.

Hi everyone, It's Jenny here and I'm back with another fall/autumn themed card, despite the fact that the weather here in New York is glorious and super hot!  (Seems like we are getting another last gasp of summer!) The card I'm showing today uses a very versatile design, and is so quick and easy.  Several of the new Carta Bella stencils in stock, or many of the repeating pattern stencils could be used for this technique, and with so many Nuvo Mousse colors and glitter colours, the sky is the limit!! The stencil I used today is the Carta Bella Fall Leaves stencil.  I love the all over pattern this creates, and the detail in the leaves is fabulous.  Stencils are one of my favorite card making supplies as there are so many ways to use them and they're great on the wallet. Hello, again!  It's Andrea  with you today.  When I was growing up, we went for lots of walks in the woods, especially in the fall.  Now, that fall is officially here (and, hopefully soon, cooler temps, too!), I'm itching to get outside and enjoy some nature! I just adore this bear from Neat & Tangled's Schoolhouse set.  Ever since I saw him, I kept imagining him hiking through the woods with his backpack full of snacks.  Using my MISTI , I stamped him and a bunch of trees from N & T's Lumberjack Love set with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink before coloring everything with Copics. Hi again!  It’s Jacquie , back with another fun project for Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today’s card is a fun scene card I made.  When I saw this adorable Wild Woodland set from My Favorite Things, I knew I had to have it. The first thing I did was stamp the squirrel and the acorn multiple times using Altenew Permanent Black Crisp Ink .  In the end, I think I stamped up 30 acorns, but did not use all of them.  I chose fun, non-traditional colors for my acorns.  I wanted my squirrel to be carrying a pile of them!  I colored them using Copic markers and cut them all out. For my background I colored a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper using Distress Inks -  Mowed lawn and Peacock Feathers . (PSST!!! These colors are on SALE!)   After the background was dry, I die cut the piece using the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches   Elements  Die.  I then stamped the greeting with Versamark and heat embossed with Altenew Pure White  Crisp embossing powder. HEy, guys! Kevin back with another Halloween card to share with you! This time I grabbed MFT's Fab-BOO-lous stamp set. Check it out- I stamped all the adorable ghosts and the headstone onto a square panel. After some really quick Copic coloring and adding shimmer pen to basically everything, I added it over some patterned paper and a card base. Hi everyone, Jenny here with a fun and crazy card for all you unicorn and glitter fans today.  I'm playing with the wonderful Unicorn Dreams set by PinkFresh Studio.   I love the imagery in this set - it feels like a unicorn set for adults :D To create my card, I first created a watercolor background. I spritzed a piece of watercolor paper with water until it was pretty wet and shiny.  I then used Derwent's Graphik line marker  paint pens to create the background.  You can achieve a similar look with Color Bursts too, which Butterfly Reflections Ink carries in the shop.   I basically flicked on color with the marker, letting it bleed out in wonderful feathery bursts.   I let it do its thing and left it to dry. Once dry, I used Heidi Swapp's Minc Reactive Mist  and flicked a few drops across the dried watercolor panel.  This is a somewhat thick liquid like a spray paint (but thicker) that you can FOIL when it is dry.  Once it dried I ran the piece through my Min

Hello, again!  It's Andrea today with a Halloween card.  Now, I have to confess I'm not a huge Halloween fan (I don't do scary.), so I don't really send out cards for that holiday.  However, I DO take my kiddos trick-or-treating, and the Happy Haunting set by MFT Stamps reminded me of them and their friends. Are you ready for another confession?  I filmed the making of this card with the idea of having a video for you, buuuuuut something with screwy with my camera and quite a bit of my footage either did not record or was erased.  Total bummer, I know - sorry! (I mean you don't get to watch me make all of my mistakes, but I'll share some of them with you anyway. ;) ) As you can probably guess, this card took alot (I mean like 3+ hours alot!) of stamping, masking and coloring, but don't you think it was totally worth it?  I do!  All of my images were stamped with my MISTI and Memento Tuxedo Black ink and masked with Inkadinkadoo Stamping Mask Pa

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s Jacquie , back again to share a pretty fall floral card.  Sunflowers are some of my favorite flowers.  I love a bouquet of them in my house, it just feels so welcoming. My card today is deceptively simple and easy to make.    I stamped this pretty Sunflower image from StrawberryJude Stamps  on a 4 x 5 ¼ piece of white cardstock, using the new Copic friendly ink from Altenew .  This ink is my new favorite ink for alcohol based markers.  It stamps perfect, dark and crisp every time!  I colored the Sunflower with my Copic markers.  I used the Stitched Scallop Basic Edges dies from My Favorite things to create a pretty edge at the top of my card.  I took an A2 sized piece of Kraft cardstock and put it in my MIST I tool. I stamped the Sunflower image on the edge of my Kraft Cardstock, and then inserted the colored card panel in the MISTI and stamped it a second time so that it would line up from the kraft cardstock on to the w

Hey BRI friends! I'm so excited to be posting for the very first time as a team member here! Even though Halloween is still over a month away, I couldn't help but make a card featuring the adorable bear from Waffle Flower's Boo stamp set . I created the cardbase from some light gray card stock and added on a die cut panel cut from MFT's Four Way Chevron Coverup Die-namics . Then a Distress Ink'd panel was added as a (not so) spooky purple sky.  I colored th adorable witchy bear with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush. I'm usually really heavy handed with color so I tried to leave it on the softer side. Some sparkling clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh finished things off! Hello everyone! It's Jenny here, with my first ever post as a DT member for Butterfly Reflections Ink - sqweeee! OK, now that's out of the way... My card this week features the gorgeous Finetec metallic watercolor paints .  These are seriously shimmery watercolors, with plenty of mica to help them sparkle.  They come in a rainbow of beautiful colours, and the best thing is you can pick the singles you love and pop them into your palette, even though they're dry pans.  To get the most from them I recommend dripping/spritzing some water on them first, leave for 5 mins to soak in, then add a little more water and stir.  That really gets the mica sparkling. I took a panel of watercolor cardstock and wet it liberally.  I then created a wash of fall colors going from brown, red, orange, and yellow with some basic watercolor paints (I used  Peerless , but it doesn't really matter, use anything you have, it's just to create a base layer ).  When dry, I used th
