October 2022 Mood Board

Hello there! And happy World Card Making Day! Amanda here today to share this months mood board. I was really drawn to the teal and orange combo this month and while I typically love jewel tones in the fall I was really liking the idea of some lighter muted tones like sage green and a sandy orange to round it out. I hope it's fall enough for you! My son informed it is not 😂 Forest Teal, Sage Green, Sandstone and Yam Image Sources: Pinterest I can't wait to see all of your creations! Be sure to share on Instagram with #brimoodboard for a chance to win a $20 shop credit, plus if you enter this weekend and use #briwcmd2022 you'll be entered to win an additional prize! May 2022 Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board. The color palette was inspired by this gorgeous abstract floral image I came across on Pinterest. What's great about using an inspiration photo like this is even with the same colors you can end up with several palettes with a totally different feel depending on the shades you select. But you know I love saturated color! It's vibrant, bold and so fun for spring florals!  Rosewater, Aurora Magenta, Marine Green, Tropic Canary Image Sources: Pinterest I can't wait to see all of your springy creations! Be sure to share on Instagram with #brimoodboard for a chance to win a $20 shop credit. And follow our @brimoodboardchallenge account to keep up with the monthly boards, entries and winners! And congrats to the random winner of last month's color challenge, Meghan @madebymeghank  Thanks for looking! ~Amanda

March 2022 Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board. I had a soft purpley mauve and cool green palette in mind when I first started putting this board together but I couldn't stop thinking about my new favorite paint combo using Dina Wakley Media colors, Blackberry and Olive. From there I decided to keep it essentially a two-color palette by adding lighter and darker values from the same paint line. I pulled all the colors directly from some painted swatches and knew it was the direction I wanted to go. I absolutely love it and hope you do too! Heather, Blackberry, Olive and Fir Image Sources: Pinterest I can't wait to see all of your creations! Be sure to share on Instagram with #brimoodboard for a chance to win a $20 shop credit. November 2021 Mood Board

Hello! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board, and mood it is! I've been totally drawn to rich earthy colors lately and this palette just hits the spot with it's cozy vibes. Green has always been one of my favorite colors but I think this deep green shade that leans a little blue tops the list. And it's just a perfect match for the warm cinnamon tone in the clay color. The gray and dark midnight green act as neutrals in this palette but they also add some great visual interest. You can really play that up depending on how you use the colors. This palette is a little more masculine than my typical boards, but I think it's also going to make for some gorgeous autumn and winter creations!  Storm Gray, Baked Clay, Blue Spruce, Pine Grove Image Sources: Pinterest I hope you all love it as much as I do and I can't wait to see what you all come up with! Be sure to share your creations on Instagram with #brimoodboard for a chance to win a $20 credit to the s...

August 2021 Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this months mood board! We're sitting primarily on the cool side of the color wheel with this palette, but we're not lacking for contrast! The light green and blue have an almost washed-out watery feel, whereas the pink and purple give you that high value intensity. I think the combo as a whole has such a great richness to it! Pistachio, Sky, Magenta and Eggplant Image Sources: Pinterest I can't wait to see what you all come up with this month! Be sure to share your creations on Instagram with #brimoodboard for a chance to win a $20 credit to the shop. And we'd love for you to follow our challenge account @brimoodboardchallenge where we share the boards and challenge entries every month. Congrats to last month's winner, Meghan K!

Little Witches with the BRI Moodboard

Hello crafty friends! Davina here, with a pun filled slimline card using Mama Elephant stamps and the July BRI Moodboard. The Moodboard this month is full of spicy warm colors like lilac, honey, poppy and mulberry. They gave me very bohemian vibes and I played around with several, ideas. Ultimately I decided to focus on the rich purple mulberry color as a nighttime sky, and the rest as supporting additions.  I used all Mama Elephant products for this little slimline and everything is available in the Butterfly Reflections Ink shop. I started by inking up my nighttime sky. I cut the panel using the Mama Elephant  Slim Basics  stitched panel, then heavily inked the sky using  Shaded Lilac  and  Wilted Violet . I tried to create a long cloud stencil using the cloud die and some scrap cardstock, but I didn’t apply enough white ink to make it visible. Next time I will have to make sure I put enough “oomph” into that.  From white cardstock, I cut some nice ta...

New Lawn Fawn with June BRI Moodboard

Hello my inky fingered friends. Davina here with a fun interactive camping card, using the new Lawn Fawn release along with the June Bri Moodboard colors. This months summery colors are lemonade , aquamarine, ultramarine, and flamingo. It’s always exciting or me when  LawnFawn  has a new release. And I’m embarrassed to say I buy most of it and don’t use it all. But, I feel like it is all must have stuff! This summer release is so fun with all of the tropical items and the great camping themed sets. The fun magic picture card that I made today features the new  S’more the Merrier  stamps and dies, as well as the super fun  Magic Picture Changer Die  and the  Add on  ( which gives that great frame to decorate). I’m not going to sugar coat it. This card took a bit of effort and time. I think that had I planned it out better before I started putting it together, it would have gone much quicker. I typically sketch out my cards before I get stamping, so...

Happy Mother's Day - Mood Board Inspiration with Jane

Happy Mother's Day!  I'm sharing this colorful Mother's Day card using a bunch of Lawn Fawn sets which can be purchased at Butterfly Reflections Ink !  Inspiration comes from the May mood board (below).  The phrase "Mama" is really is dear to me, as my three year old daughter calls me Mama.  I hope this card inspires you to use the mood board colors this month! To create this card, I first ink blended a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock using the following distress oxide inks (top to bottom): picked raspberry , kitsch flamingo , abandoned coral , scattered straw , twisted citron and peacock feathers .  Next, I used the large stitched rectangle die to cut the panel.  The bottom of the panel was then cut using the stitched simple wavy borders .  Next, the top portion was again die cut using the stitched cloudy backdrop die and splatted with some water.  Then, I adhered the bottom "water" portion to an A2 piece of white cardstock using liqui...

BRI Moodboard Inspiration with Davina

Hello crafty friends! Davina here with an interactive card using the April BRI Moodboard colors. I used tons of Lawn Fawn Goodies including the new  Swish N Pop Pulltab  die to make this shooting star shoot across the violet sky.  I don’t use my segmented frame dies as often as I’d like to, yet I continue purchasing them from multiple companies. So for this fun card I not only used my  Peek A Boo Background  frame, but I also designed a way to hide the pull tab mechanism on the lower half of the card, while leaving the upper segments intact.  I began by cutting the background frame die from textured white cardstock, then I cut two A2 sized panels from Bristol Smooth Cardstock. I inkblended one panel from light blue to a soft violet, then splattered with water, perfect pearls, and gold ink. I cut a strip of citrus colored cardstock with the  Grassy Hillside Border Dies  for the bottom segments, and inked a darker Mowed Lawn Distress Oxides onto the...
Hello crafty friends! Davina here on the blog with an Easter filled slimline card featuring the new  Doodlebug  Collection  Hippity Hoppity . I’m a longtime fan of Doodlebug Designs, and don’t use them nearly as much as I want to. This cute card has the adorable bunnies racing to the egg hunt. I used the March BRI Moodboard colors as inspiration for my color choices, although I did have to add some orange for the carrot car.  I began this creating the card by stamping almost every image from  Hippity Hoppity . I also pulled out a few additional sets for additional tree shapes. I used Winter Wonderland   Forest Friends , and Pumpkin Spice  Forest Friends  for the tree as well the bees and ladybug. I colored everything up using my copic markers and color combos the match the BRI Moodboard, then cut  the images using the coordinating dies.  To build my scene I cut two paper layers (white Bristol smooth & grassy green colored cardstock) ...

Sending Llama Love with Davina and the Bri Moodboard

Hello my inky fingered friends! Davina here on the blog, sharing some fun February BRIMoodboard inspiration. The colors this month are cotton Candy, hot pink, jet black and steel gray. I’ve made a few projects already with these bold colors and it has been so exciting. I pulled a pile of scrap papers from my bin (cause I’m crazy and always try to use my remnants first), and found some hot pink, glitter cardstock, and black& white stripes that I wanted to use. Then I flipped through some of my unused stamp sets. These llamas from Mama Elephants  Little Llama Agenda  have been calling my name.  I didn’t know how I was going to use them but I knew I wanted gray snow capped mountains and some pink grass  on a slimline card.  I used the beautifully detailed  Scalloped slimline Pull Tab  die from Heffy Doodle to cut a hot pink base. Then I used some Lawn Fawn Stitched Slimline  dies to cut 3 panels from Bristol Smooth Cardstock. I cut one panel in h...

Mood board inspiration with Jane

Hi friends!  Today I'm sharing this cute mood board inspired Valentine's Day card.  Check out this month's gorgeous mood board created by Amanda!  I was inspired by the starry sky image and cool winter tones to create my card. To start, I first stamped my images using versafine clair ink in nocturne onto Bristol smooth cardstock.  Images are from the following sets:  yeti or not (scarves and hearts), special delivery (birds), a bug deal (branch), love letters (sentiment).  The images were colored using tombow dual brush pens and a number 2 paint brush with water to soften the colors.  Colors used: 403, 291, 910, 025, 803 (birds), 723 and 761 (scarves and hearts).  White gel pen used to add accents to the images and they were cut using the coordinating dies. To create the center sky, I swiped my stargazer ink pad on white cardstock then cut it using the star trail die (by Ellen Hutson).  The rectangle was cut using t...

Moodboard Inspiration with Peggy

Hello! My name is Peggy and this is my very first post as a design team member for Butterfly Reflections, Ink! I am so happy to be here among such talented crafters and hope to inspire you with my work! Today’s card is a thank you card inspired by this month ’ s gorgeous moodboard featuring rose gold, powder pink, icy mint and deep space blue. I started by cutting a side folding slimline card base from white 300 gsm paper measuring 7 x 8.5 inch, scored at 3.5 inch using my EK success mini scoring board . From rose gold mirror board I cut a panel measuring 3.5 x 8.5 inch and a panel of white 300 gsm cardstock to do some ink blending measuring 3 x 8 inch. Next I taped my panel to my Tim Holtz glass media mat (travel size). I used three colors of distress oxide pads , starting at the bottom with dried marigold , then spun sugar and tattered rose . I used my Lawn Fawn Cloudy Stencil and some chipped sapphire distress oxide ink to overlay a cloud pattern. Lastly, I used distress o...

I think we're off to a good start with this month's mood board featuring a little sparkle and ice for some winter glam vibes!
