Popping In - Waffle Flower Crafts

Hello everybody, this is Nicky with you one last time in my 4 month design team role for Butterfly Reflections Ink, it has been such a pleasure and privilege to share my creations with you.  My card today features the adorable Popping In by Waffle Flower Crafts . A panel was die cut and then delicately ink blended using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink  together with my Clarity Stencil Brushes .  I then stamped all the images from Popping In using Ranger Archival Ink .  I then watercolour painted everything using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then die cut and adhered them into position on the ink blended panel using dimensional foam tape in various depths.   The colour scheme of the card is quite clearly to welcome a baby boy, so I just used the Congratulations stamp twice in the corner of the base layer of the card.  I then adhered the panel into position with craft foam sandwiched behind it.  Your cards will survive being mailed so much...

Dogs Stamp Set by Jane's Doodles

Hello this is Nicky back with you today with this simple but slightly time consuming card.  I'll call this my 'virtually' no line watercolour card since I wanted a little definition.  The card uses Dogs Stamp Set by Jane's Doodles . I created a panel of Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock and die cut it using the largest frame die from Die-Namics Blueprint #25 by My Favorite Things .  I stamped my images using Distress Ink in Antique Linen.  I called this my 'virtual' no line watercolour card because I chose to use the 1st generation stamp rather than the 2nd generation stamp that is preferred for true, no line watercolour painting. I wanted to create a casual wallpaper affect (without the repeat) and starting from the top of the card and working my way down I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to watercolour each image.  Sometimes I used the brush directly to make the outline and other defined areas bolder. The card was finished out wit...

The Whole Herd - My Favorite Things

Hello everybody, happy Tuesday to you all and I hope your week is off to a good start!  I don't know about you but I'm very picky about the stamp sets that I invest in and I'm always very careful to only buy the ones I know I can get a lot of mileage out of.   The Whole Herd by My Favorite Things has to be one of my all time favourites! I use the pig and the cows from the set more than anything else, so today's card was me, working on me, to use the other characters more and I'm pleased with the results.  My card started with a white base of 110lb card stock.   Next I used the main die from Blueprints #25 by MFT to provide the full-size panel with the stitched edge.   I ink blended it using Distress Inks in Mowed Lawn and Tumbled Glass, slowly building the colour using my beloved Clarity Stencil Brushes .  I then distressed the scene using some water splashes and splashes of Salty Ocean mixed with water. Next I stamped my animals using Ranger ...

Served Up by Create A Smile Stamps

Hello, this is Nicky back with you today with this fun and sweet card by Create A Smile Stamps - the set is called Served Up . This is a highly dimensional and multi-layered card (it's all fun until you try and get it into the envelope right)? The base is 110lb Kraft card stock and upon this is layered 2 previously die cut mats - I always have a selection on hand in my most used colours because it really speeds up the card making process.  A smaller panel of white card stock was trimmed to the perfect size and then I masked off a portion of it and then just eyeballing it (because I like to live life on the edge) I repeatedly stamped the sentiment 'treat yourself' from the stamp set, rotating through 4 different colours of pastel inks. The masking was removed and the panel adhered to the base with foam tape.  Next I stamped all the images onto white card stock using Ranger Archival Ink in black.  I watercolour painted them using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Ma...

Somebunny Card!

Hello everyone, this is Nicky back with you again sharing some pastel springtime goodness with this new card featuring the ultra adorable Somebunny Stamp Set by My Favorite Things . I ink blended a panel ever so delicately in pale pink, yellow and orange using Distress Inks and utilising the amazing Clarity Stencil Brushes .  I die cut the panel using Blueprints #25 by My Favorite Things to provide the stitched edge affect. I then stamped all of the images from Somebunny including the clouds with archival ink.  The clouds were ink blended in pale blue then  I watercolour painted the bunnies and chicks using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush  markers and die cut them out.  One of my clouds received a friendly smiley face care of the Rainy Days stamp set by Pretty Pink Posh . Before adhering the elements with dimensional foam tape I used Copic markers to dot in a little suggestion of ground, pebbles and grass.   I also added some subtle twinkling ...

Big Top Birthday - Neat & Tangled

Hello, Nicky back with you today with this card using the Big Top Birthday stamp and die set by Neat & Tangled . The panel of my card was cut using the largest die from Blueprints #25 by My Favorite Things .   I created a focal point by ink blending with Distress Ink in a light pink.  I die cut another panel with the same die and then used the medium sized wave die from Ocean Wave Borders by Lawn Fawn to cut 4 lengths of curtains. I ink blended 3 of these curtain pieces in a minty green and one in a pale blue and then applied them to the scene with dimensional foam tape. I then stamped the characters and other components with Ranger Archival Ink and watercolour painted them using Clean Color Real Brush Markers by Zig.  They were die cut and applied to the scene with yet more dimensional foam tape.  The final touch was a little Wink of Stella here and there for a subtle shimmer and then I set about highlighting certain points with my Uni-Ball S...

Happy Birthday Harvest Mouse

Hello everybody, Nicky back with you today and demonstrating my love and desire for wringing every last ounce of use out of my stamp sets.   Just because it isn't harvest time doesn't mean you can't use these mice from Harvest Mouse by MFT in a 'Springy' type of way. Firstly I ink blended my panel using Distress Inks and Clarity Stencil Brushes .  I then used some of the Distress Inks to splatter and distress the background.  A separate panel of card stock was ink blended in green Distress Inks and then die cut with the Grassy Hills Die by MFT.  I also die cut the picket fence using the Frightful Fence by MFT.  The background panel was die cut using the frame from Blueprints 25 by MFT. Assembly time ..... I popped the fence up on foam tape and then layered the grass over the bottom of the fence with more foam tape creating some nice depth and dimension, these were then adhered to the main panel.  Next I stamped the two mice from Harvest...

MFT Fluttering Hearts and Cool Cat!

Hello everyone, it is Nicky here with you again.  Today I am sharing a card that I made using MFT's new Die-Namics Fluttering Hearts Coverup .  The card started with two panels die cut in 100lb red card stock using the second largest die from Lawn Cuts Scalloped Rectangle Stackables .   I joined the two panels together having scored a fold line so that the card could flex and sit open.  I then die cut the fluttering hearts panel out of 110lb white card stock and teased open only the ones that you see opened (I found that they opened better for being scored down the center of each one).  Over the flat section I made a panel.  On the left of the panel I die cut into it a line of X's and O's from MFT's Die-Namics Blueprints #5 .  On the right hand side I stamped and watercolour painted  and die cut my favorite cat from MFT's Cool Cat .  Using an old off cut that had the stitched edge I stamped the sentiment.  The mini panel was mounted t...

YOU MAKE MY TAIL WAG from MY FAVORITE THINGS

Hello everybody this is Nicky here with you today with my first post as a Design Team member for Butterfly Reflections Ink Shop .  I am delighted to be here with you all sharing my love of card making and hopefully inspiring many of you with your future projects. Today's card features the totally adorable You Make My Tail Wag  stamp and coordinating die  set by My Favorite Things. I started out by masking off my card panel and then using Distress Inks  and the totally AMAZING Clarity Stencil Brushes  I ink blended the strip of sky and grass.  After removing my masking tape I added a strip of Grassy Border  from Lawn Fawn for a little dimension.  I then stamped and watercolor painted the cute dog and his dog house using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers   and die cut them and applied them to the card using some dimensional foam tape.  Next I layered on the die cut clouds and sun from Spring Showers  by Lawn Fawn.   F...
