Happy Galentine's Day!

I know, I know.  Crafters have moved on from Valentine's Day projects, but it's actually Valentine's Day so I had to share one last card!  I made this "Galentine's Day" card for a friend of mine whose husband is deployed.  I'm pairing it with some bath bombs, so I used an underwater theme and, for this non-traditional card, I went with a more non-traditional color palette than the usual reds and pinks associated with Valentine's Day. I just love this peek-a-boo style card!  To start, I cut smooth Bristol card stock to 4.25 x 5.5" and used Lawn Fawn stitched circle dies to cut circles in random spots ... this piece will become the upper layer.  On a second piece of smooth Bristol card stock (also cut to 4.25 x 5.5"), I used mermaid lagoon and vintage photo Distress Oxide Inks to add color in the areas that would fall beneath the circles ... this piece will become the lower layer.  I also splattered some blue and brown acrylic paint o...

Perfect Peacock Pair

Hello crafters! Ali here from alilovescardmaking ( instagram /youtube) with two cards in one of my favorite colour combinations: purple and green (well, turquoise really). I always think of Peacocks when these colours combine....is that the same for anyone else? I have used the fabulous Concord & 9th Dahlia Turnabout Die to create a stencil and produced these pair of bright and striking cards. I used some heavy weight card to create the stencil - this is because it does become quite saturated with ink if you are making a few cards at the same time, and the 'gaps' between the leaves can get delicate and tear if your paper is thin (trust me I know this from experience!!) you will need to cut and 'turn' the die 4 times - I just turned my paper 90 degrees after each cut and then used my eye to line the die up again (hint: turn the paper over and check from the back that your cut lines are not ;overlapping' with your last cut - I learned this f...

July Mood Board

Hello there! And Happy 4th of July eve eve! ;-) I'm here to share this month's mood board and I hope you love it as much as I do! Working on these boards tends to send me down a rabbit hole of colors. Unless I have a very specific color combo in mind I start with a vague feeling/theme and work from there. When I sat to work on it this time I thought it would be perfect to do something a little patriotic or nautical. I started with two shades of blue, a dusty red and, believe it or not, a soft honeydew green just to add a little extra interest. Well, then things start getting crazy. I start swapping one color out for another, a darker shade of this, a more vibrant shade of that, and suddenly I have COMPLETELY different colors. These colors can easily work as a fall palette but it also makes me think of summer sunsets. I love spending summer evenings on the deck! Watching the colors change, making S'mores, enjoying a glass of wine and soaking up the down time! Soft Salm...
