Charmed...

Hi, hello!  Norine here, back again with some floral cards to share with you.  I made 5 with one image from the Charmed stamp set by Altenew .   It wasn't my intention to make that many, (it never is) but I do like to stamp several in case one or two go straight south, then I still have some back ups.  But there were no oopsies this time, I kinda liked them all and couldn't eliminate any. The other reason for so many, was to try out a couple of different surfaces with the Prima IOS Water-Soluble Oil Pastels .  All the first cards are stamped on watercolor paper, and the last two are on vellum. These oil pastels are thick, and rich and creamy and a little goes a long way.  Just a few strokes of color inside the flower shapes, once activated with water, was enough to cover the whole flower. The card below was created using the red, orange-yellow and salmon pink pastel crayons.  The "thanks" sentiment is from the Deerest Friends set by ...

Reverse Confetti THANKS!

Happy Wednesday friends - hope you are having a great week! Have you seen these Square Confetti Cuts (links below) from Reverse Confetti? So cool; they make a perfectly square 4.25" card OR you can layer it on to a larger size card...or make a tag...the possibilities are endless. I wanted to keep mine very CAS yet colorful. I had created a couple watercolor panels last weekend (you know, smoosh some distress colors down, add some water and dip your paper in) and put them aside to dry; I thought it would be a perfect backdrop to a clean white card. I cut 3 layers of the THANKS Square Confetti Cut, sponged on some yellow on the bottom of the 'thanks', added glossy accents then layered them together. I stamped and embossed some WPlus9 Modern Peony images to add some interest, adhered the stacked panel to the watercolor panel and then to a top folding 4.25" square note card - quick and simple! Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT week! Hugs! ...

Modern Peony in Pink

Hi friends! Welcome back - it's another HUMP DAY...and my birthday celebration has NOT ended yet! :D Several girlfriends and I are doing an escape room Friday night, then dinner! THEN my celebration will officially be over! HA! Meanwhile, if you have followed along with Vanessa for very long, then you probably know about the loss of her brother! He battled some tough demons; Vanessa has kept her shop running, shipped packages non-stop amidst the angst and heartache. She's so strong! I created this card for her and sent her way; sympathy cards are never easy to make! I stamped the images with Versmark and embossed with white embossing powder then colored with a base layer of Tombow markers and finished it off with Prismacolor Pencils. I did an all over background wash of gray, then added some stronger shadows under the flower and leaves. The sentiment was embossed on vellum and layered on top of other papers. I die cut 2 stitched squares to accentuate the flower an...

Beautiful Day

Happy Saturday! Today I'm sharing this card that was so therapeutic to create! I was watching a video that a fellow card maker did and she used this fantastic set of watercolor samples that are very inexpensive and a great way to try out some high quality watercolor paints and then decide which ones you'd like to invest in. Find the watercolor set here . For a cardmaker, this option is so economical because you don't really need to use much to make a beautiful looking watercolor masterpiece. I began by stamping my images from the Altenew Beautiful Day stamp set on to my favorite watercolor paper  in Versamark ink  and then  gold heat embossed them . I then used a small paintbrush and set off to coloring the images. The dots of watercolor on this sample sheet are very concentrated, so the color on the sheet is quite bolder than what will actually appear on your paper when you add the water to it. I recommend trying out these paints on a scratch piece of watercolor...

Little bits of Kind Soul

Hi friends - happy hump day! :D I wanted to created some bright and cheery flowers celebrating spring! I've had this Kind Soul set from WPlus9 for a couple weeks, but only used small portions of it in each corner embossed in white and colored with Zig Clean Color Brushes. Once colored and dry, I added a light blue wash over the entire background and then a bit darker blue closest to the image. I stamped the sentiment from WPlus9 That is All set, embossed with Hero Arts Liquid Platinum, and splattered on some watered down gold paint. Finished it off with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins - the ones with no holes. Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT week! Hugs, WHAT'S IT TAKE? Stamps : WPlus9  Kind Soul  and  That is All Papers : Papertreyink True Black,  Ranger Watercolor Paper Ink :  VesaMark   Accessories :  Hero Arts  white embossing powder , PTI A2 scalloped die, Zig Clean Color Brushes, washi tape, PPP seq...

Hugs!

Good morning, everyone! It's Cassie here with another fun card for you all! I'm super excited about this card because it uses a really fun die by Concord and 9th . Let's just jump right in :)  I was so pumped to finally use the Hugs Card die . I was worried it was going to be too complicated, but luckily it was not difficult at all to figure out. The interlocking feature is such a fun and unique touch. I started this card by cutting my Strathmore Bristol smooth paper to 5x11. I die cut the hugs letters off each side and creased the card so it folded in. Then I masked the card so I could work on the front panels that you see here. This is when I used my WPlus9 Friends For All Seasons: Spring set and stamped the images all over the front. I made sure that images were hanging off the side so it looked like a continuous pattern. I used my Distress Inks to color the images. Like I've been doing lately, I used a messy water color technique. I LOVE doing this be...

Unbelievable Lawn Fawn with ColorBurst!

Hello, my friends! Janette here. I am so excited to bring you this fabulous card today so, let's get to it! Okay, do you ever see a new product and think "ya, that's neat but I'm not ______ enough to use that." Some people feel that way about Colorbursts. You might not feel crafty enough, good enough, creative enough, etc... Don't be intimidated. This may be the technique for you!  Begin by misting watercolor paper lightly with water. Break out those Colorbursts. You can find the newest dry powders (matte finish) here , the new Liquid Metals (shimmer finish) here and here , or individually here . Simply tap powder on your dampened paper and drip drops of liquid metal. Give another light water mist and either let your paper sit to dry or pick up and tilt to get those colors moving. Play to your hearts content. Add Colorbursts, blot, mist, brush, shimmy and/or shake. Enjoy watching the colors bloom. Do know that the color will continue to move ...

"Redonkulous" Watercolor Ranunculus Shaker

Welcome to the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog and good Thursday to you all! I know, I know... you are almost to that 3 day weekend and you are restless in waiting. Well, I am Janette and I'm here to give you a little creative inspiration to get you there. Today, I present this fab and simple shaker card. Truly. Simple. You can do this! If you can stamp an image and hold a paint brush, you can create this card. To begin, I stamped the Beautiful Bouquet: Ranunculus  (what we have affectionately dubbed redonkulous Ranunculus) by WPlus9 on Prima Marketing watercolor paper in Versamark Ink and embossed it with clear detail powder .  I then wet an entire flower and tapped the paper with my Gansai Tambi watercolor  loaded paintbrush.  The color filled each section splendidly. I repeated this method with each subsequent section. I prefer to let my watercolor work dry naturally as you will get a more natural blending and spreading of pigment than you will by ...

Minimalist Floral

Hello friends! Amy ( The Craft Bunny ) here! Today I was  inspired  to create a one-layer card. The focal point is a floral arrangement around a white circle with lots of white space. This is not my usual style so I was extremely uncomfortable with the white space LOL. However, I decide to embrace it and see what you would think. Here is a closer look at my card. Die cut a circle from masking paper using some circle die. Mask the center of a watercolor panel Stamp flower and leaf outline images around the circle with Altenew's Beautiful Day set . Mask individual flower or leaf when necessary Remove the circle mask, stamp some small flowers inside the circle Mask the whole circle with masking fluid. Let completely dry Watercolor the flowers and leaves with Gansai Tambi Watercolor Rub off the masking fluid. Stamp the sentiment with black pigment ink. I used my Misti tool to make sure my sentiment is completely straight and in the center of the circle. If yo...

Sorry I Overreacted

Hi there friends! Janette here from sunny, yet wet (yay!) California. It is rare to have an entirely gloomy day here, and not uncommon to experience sunshine at the same time rain is falling. I love those moments. Then there are moments that I love much less. Those times I've overreacted or said something a little too harshly, those moments that call for an apology. Today, I bring you a card for just that occasion. A simple apology can go a long way to make things right again. Never be to prideful to say "I'm sorry." MFT is one of my all time favorite companies. They produce quality products I love, release after release. The most recent release is no exception. This Undeniable Chemistry stamp set and the coordinating dies, Chemistry , are on point! I've paired them with Prima Watercolor Paper  and Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade , Carved Pumpkin and Candied Apple . After smooshing my selected Distress Inks on an acrylic block, I placed just...

Always Refreshing

Hello! Lindsay with you today, for my very first post for Butterfly Reflections, Ink! I am so excited to be able to share projects with you, using products we all love, every week on the blog! Today, I have a bright and fun card for you, using some of my favorite My Favorite Things stamps, and dies. Using a piece of watercolor paper, I took one of the bottle dies from the Cool Cup  die set, and ran it through my die cut machine. I took the bottle pieces, and colored them in using the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors. These are so dreamy, thick, and pigmented! When they were dry, I stamped You're the Coolest, from the coordinating Soda Pop set , in black, within the open area. Using the negative piece, I placed a thin piece of paper onto the backside with plenty of adhesive, and reinserted the bottle die cuts into it. I layered it onto black card stock, and then onto my hot pink card base. To finish it off, I white heat embossed the sentiment onto black card stock, ...

Fa La La La La

Hello, Brandi  here... popping in with a fun and festive Christmas card. Tis the Season! Have you seen the  Pinkfresh Studio  products in the  shop ? LOVE!!! They are the cutest! For this card I stamped the present image and sentiment from  Pinkfresh Studio's Christmas Wishes  stamp set on  Watercolor Paper . Next I colored in the presents with my  Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers . For the sentiment background, I lightly watercolored the panel with green from my  Gansai Tambi Watercolor Set . I think these colors just make the images POP! To finish the card off, I assembled everything together using a piece of black and white patterned paper, black sequins and a turquoise card base. What do you think? Hope you've enjoyed my dose of inspiration! Until next time,,, Brandi
