A Very Dandy Day!

Hi everyone, Ashley here and I'm so happy to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog. Today, I'm sharing what I like to call an "overloaded" card - I built a scene, and then kept adding critters, and critters, and more critters, until the scene was completely overloaded! I probably could have cut out half of the images, and the card would have been just fine. Oh well - at least there's a lot to look at! I started by building the background scene. I used Distress Oxide Inks to blend the sky ( Salty Ocean ), the grass ( Lucky Clover ), the pond ( Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers ), and the cattails ( Shabby Shutters ). I also used some Lawn Fawn stencils for the sky ( Cloudy Stencil ) and the grass ( Grassy Stencil ). I splattered the panels with white paint and Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust . I used a bunch of Lawn Fawn dies to cut out the background pieces. I used the Stitched Pond die , and the Cattails Border die . I ink-blended a small pane...

A Rainbow of Bugs!

Hi everyone, Ashley here and I'm so excited to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog this week! Today, I decided I wanted some colour and decided to go for a rainbow effect, using Lawn Fawn's super cute A Bug Deal stamp set. This card was actually pretty simple to put together! First, I stamped out all of the bugs using Lawn Fawn's Jet Black ink , and coloured them in with Copic markers. I coloured one of each bug in each of 5 rainbow colours (red, orange/yellow, green, teal and purple). I used two shades of each colour for each bug - a light and a dark - to get some shading in the small images. After colouring and cutting out all of the images, I arranged them on a white cardstock panel and carefully adhered them all down using foam squares . I made sure to keep them as evenly and straightly placed as possible - this would have been easier if I had drawn straight lines in pencil, but I just eyeballed it! I stamped out two parts of the se...

Caught a Bug? Feel Better Soon!

Hi everyone, Ashley here and I'm so happy to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink! Today, I'm sharing a Get Well Soon card featuring stamps and supplies from Lawn Fawn's Spring 2020 Release. To start, I stamped out the adorable images of branches, leaves, dirt piles and bugs from Lawn Fawn's A Bug Deal stamp set. I coloured them in with Copic markers and cut them all out, leaving a small white border around each image. For the background, I used a cloudy stencil to blend on some Distress Oxide ink in Tumbled Glass . I did this on almost the entire card panel, leaving a small space at the bottom for the grass. I splattered the whole sky area with some white paint, as well as Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust , for a layer of shimmer. At the bottom, I used a grassy stencil to blend on some Distress Oxide ink in Lucky Clover . I love how the one-layer inked background adds so much visual interest without adding too many bulky layers. I arranged all of t...

This is a Really BUG Deal!

Hi everyone, Ashley here and I'm so happy to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog! Today I've got a creepy-crawly-filled card to share using stamps and supplies from Lawn Fawn's Spring 2020 release! I don't love bugs in real life, but how cute are these stamped ones? To start this card, I stamped out all of these adorable images from the new Lawn Fawn A Bug Deal stamp set in Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink . I coloured them all in with Copic markers and cut them out, leaving a small white border. For the background, I experimented making a one-layer inked scene background. I started with the sky, using a cloud stencil and blending on Distress Oxide ink in Tumbled Glass . I then used a grass stencil and blended on Distress Oxide ink in Lucky Clover just below. I faded the green into strips of varying brown shades - Distress Oxide inks in (from top to bottom): Antique Linen , Rusty Hinge , Vintage Photo , Walnut Stain , and a touch of Black Soot . ...
