Underwater Friends Boxcard with Davina

Hello crafty friends! Davina here with some March BRI Moodboard inspiration. I created a teeny little Boxcard with an underwater scene and I hope you like it as much as I do. The colors this month are Heather, BlackBerry, Olive and Fir Green. It can often be intimidating to use color combos that you aren’t  familiar with, but let me assure you that these lovely shades of purple and green go beautifully together.  As always, the products I use for these posts are in stock at the  Butterfly Reflections Ink  online store. I used an ocean themed stamp set from  Avery Elle  called  Underwater Friends  and it’s  Coordinating dies , and the die set for the boxcard is the extremely versatile  Lawn Fawn Shadow Box  , with a scalloped frame from the  Ocean Add On .  I was going to create an inkblended background for the underwater interior, but I happened to rediscover a paper pad in my stash that has life-like alcohol ink patt...

Here for You Card

Well hello there! Samantha here, and today I am sharing a card that was inspired by the August Mood Board ! Swoon! Am I right? I love these color soooo much, who knew!? lol! I used alcohol inks to create the background! I honestly just love playing with alcohol inks !! I wanted the background to stand out, so I used die cut that beautiful rainbow with the Rainbow Elle-ments die from Avery Elle out of vellum for the images, and then attached them all to some clear acetate! Then I used my sewing machine to stitch it to the card base! Those bright purples and magenta just pop! Next, I stamped the flowers and leaves from the Sending Flowers stamp set ! I colored them all with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, and then used the coordinating dies to die cut them out! I added the colors in the soft blues and muted greens to bring in the other colors from the mood board. Lastly, I used some white embossing paste and the Falling Leaves Stencil from Newton's Nook to add some more leaf...

Alcohol ink ocean with Peter

Hi everyone! The card I'm sharing with you all today is this square card with something you all may have lying around.. an old cd! Check out my  Instagram  for a short video of the card in motion. Catching the light it's even more gorgeous! Playing with alcohol inks is super fun and it can be used on more then  special alcohol ink paper . It also works really well on (smooth) surfaces like I did with this old cd. Use the shiny side to play with your alcohol inks. Use some blending solution  and start adding drops of alcohol ink. Play around with it as you would do so on paper till you have a cool background for your card. I wanted to make two layers of ocean on my card. So I cut a stitched square  that will leave some room around my cd out of watercolor paper. With the Ocean Wave Stencils from Lawn Fawn I started blending waves with Distress Oxide Mermaid Lagoon . I made sure I had at least some waves almost at the top, the bottom and in the middle. In the mid...

Sparkle and Shine

Happy Friday, Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones. This was the first year that we didn't spend the holiday with extended family. We still made a big dinner, and my son baked pumpkin pie...which we haven't eaten yet because we were so full! Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time to really focus on getting all those holiday cards made. I'm sharing a pair of cards today that are full of sparkle and shine. You can find all of the supplies in the Butterfly Reflections, Ink. online store . I started with the rectangular card. I just recently got this Snowflake Circle Frame die and have been so excited to use it. I decided to use a piece of holographic paper, and wow - what an impact. Because this die cuts out the interior detail, I first cut the holographic paper with a larger circle die so that I could create the look of an ornament. I knew I wanted to make a shaker card, so I got a piece of acetate and white heat-embossed the ...

Snow Buddies

Hello crafty friends and readers! This is Crystal here today and I have two cards to share with you featuring vivid alcohol ink backgrounds and adorable snowmen!  Creating alcohol ink pieces of art to use on cards has such a WOW effect.  While I love the look of Distress Oxide inks, I still don't feel entirely comfortable using them, so when I want to create eye-catching backgrounds, Ranger Adirondack Alcohol Inks are my jam. Both of these cards are A2 in size and feature the Snow Buddies stamp set and coordinating dies from Honey Bee stamps.  The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock.  I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of White Yupo paper on which to create my background.  I dropped a couple drops each of Aqua , Pool and Patina inks onto the Yupo paper and blew the ink around with a straw until I achieved a desired look.  No, there is no rhyme or reason to my madness when creating with alcohol! J...

Close to My Heart

Hello, BRI fans! Toni here with you today. I'm sharing a super cute mixed media card that has me singing with joy! The base of the card front is Ranger Adirondack Alcohol Inks dropped onto Yupo .  You can see the various colors peeking out from behind the Lawn Fawn Polka Heart Cover Plate die cut. I die cut the  MFT Heart Tree  from a leftover piece of  Ranger Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock  colored with Lindy's Magicals. I left pieces inside the die and dotted the paper with  Ranger Multi Medium Matte . I then placed the front panel onto the backside of a mouse pad and pressed the tree die facedown onto it. I used a stiletto tool to push out any remaining pieces then removed the die, leaving the paper behind. Magic! I next colored the MFT Tweet Friends bird using the below Copics . Isn't he sweet?! Lastly I stamped one of MFT Tweet Friends sentiments with Stazon Jet Black onto a piece of the leftover Yupo panel. Normally I would have ...

Pet Lovers Card with Jess + My Favorite Things

Hey y'all! It's Jess and I'm back with another fun card for you this week. I just placed an order from the Butterfly Reflections Ink site this past week and got my super speedy delivery, so I couldn't wait to get crafting with these adorable sets from My Favorite Things. To get started, I stamped out this absolutely adorable girl and her puppy from New Best Friend . I colored her up with Copic markers and then fussy cut her. I stopped cutting when I got to her feet, because I wanted to try a unique way of adding my sentiment this time. Next, I grabbed a scrap from an alcohol ink background I made a while back and trimmed it to match my white cardstock piece. I also cut  down a piece of white cardstock to 4in x 5.25in and then blended on some Hickory Smoke Distress Ink. I loved the way this looked with the coloring on the girl's sweater. I used the sentiment, 'I'm so happy you have a new best friend,' and repeatedly stamped in a line ...
