VIDEO - Bursting with Fun! | Stencils and Color Burst

Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here, and I'm so thrilled to be returned to the BRI blog - and I have LOTS of cards for you today - SEVEN!  I'm focusing on using stencils with Color Burst watercolor powders.    I'm using the just released Catherine Pooler Color Burst collection, and Butterfly Reflections Ink carries tons of other gorgeous colors in the store . For all my cards I'm using cold press watercolor cardstock .   You can check out the full video over on  YouTube .   My first two cards use the Catherine Pooler Designs (CPD) Perfect Vine stencil.  I laid out two sheets of cold press cardstock and on one I laid down the stencil, and then spritzed clear water  over the top with a Mini Mister .  I then quickly picked up the stencil and flipped it over onto the other piece of cardstock, pushed down to press the water remaining on the stencil into the cardstock and then lifted it up. Now for the fun part! ...

Unicorns and Stars

Hi everyone, Jenny here with a fun and crazy card for all you unicorn and glitter fans today.  I'm playing with the wonderful Unicorn Dreams set by PinkFresh Studio.   I love the imagery in this set - it feels like a unicorn set for adults :D To create my card, I first created a watercolor background. I spritzed a piece of watercolor paper with water until it was pretty wet and shiny.  I then used Derwent's Graphik line marker  paint pens to create the background.  You can achieve a similar look with Color Bursts too, which Butterfly Reflections Ink carries in the shop.   I basically flicked on color with the marker, letting it bleed out in wonderful feathery bursts.   I let it do its thing and left it to dry. Once dry, I used Heidi Swapp's Minc Reactive Mist  and flicked a few drops across the dried watercolor panel.  This is a somewhat thick liquid like a spray paint (but thicker) that you can FOIL when it is dry.  On...

Still Younger Than You, Crazy Dog!

Happy Sunday, BRI friends! I'm Janette and I'm bringing you a card made for one of my besties who has a birthday today. Shh, don't tell her... I won't see her until Tuesday! The Crazy Dog stamp set is just too fun! So many doggies to create so many paper crafts! I chose this guy with a few accessories and colored them with Distress Crayons in Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Festive Berries, Black Soot, Antique Linen, Chipped Sapphire and a water brush . The background was easy peasy with Color Burst watercolor powders . I saturated the watercolor paper with clear water and spritzed a bit of Lemon Yellow across the paper. I waited for the water to dry a tad and added a sprinkle of Sepia to my craft mat. I then picked it up with a damp brush and drew it across the watercolor paper. The Sepia creeped up into the yellow creating a grassy look in which Fido could play. Add a touch of water for a blended look below. I stamped the sentiment from the Taylor...
