Hello Card

Hi Crafty Friends! Stephanie here with my last card for this DT term. I can't believe how fast and how amazing these past 4 months have been! Today, I'm sharing a Hello card using Pinkfresh Studio and Honey Bee Stamps .  I started by cutting some white cardstock down to A2 card size. I then put the card in my Misti Tool and stamped the pretty flower border from the Pinkfresh Studio Charming Floral Border stamp set. I colored in the stamp with Copic markers. It's hard to see in the picture, but I also added in a shadow outline in N0 Copic to add a little dimension.  When I finished coloring, I moved on to the sentiment. I stamped the small sentiment from the same Charming Floral stamp set in clear Versamark and embossed it with white Ranger Embossing Powder .  I then stamped the hello from the Honey Bee Stamps Bitty Buzzwords set. I just love this set because it's so versatile! I popped up the hello with some foam adhesive and glued down the 2nd sentiment flat...

Waving hello.

Hello!  To be honest, I think I lost a bit of my card making mojo around month 3 of this stay-at-home-all-day situation.  Maybe some of you can relate.  My go-to card when I'm lacking extra creativity is a clean-and-simple card (a card with a lot of white space).  Something about that pop of color against all that white just seems to make the message really stand out. For this card, I used a circle stencil to apply broken china Distressed Oxide ink to the center of the background panel.  I then layered mermaid lagoon Distressed Oxide ink over the first ink layer using a wave stencil (I had an older version of the Newton's Nook wave stencil on hand).  I used black ink and clear embossing powder to add the "waving hello" sentiment (from Lawn Fawn's mermaid for you stamp set ) under the ink-blended circle.  Once the background panel dried, I adhered the piece to a slightly-larger card with foam tape to add dimension. Next, I colored the ...

Still waving ...

I have another waving hello card to share this week, because we're still just waving around here! I did something a bit different this week ... I used watercolors !  For each image in my scene, I stamped onto watercolor paper  (cold-pressed is best for holding more water!) and heat embossed with clear embossing powder ... this process created little borders for the watercolor paint.  To paint each image, I first layered on a diluted amount of watercolor, let it dry for a few moments and then went back to add additional splotches and details: I fussy cut each of my images (and, to make them look even more finished, traced around the cut edges with black Copic marker). I added more interest to the card by adding a layer of vellum to represent the water, and ... I used glossy accents to add dimension.   I also used foam tape to make certain areas (like the sand) pop. While this card is fairly simple, I think the wat...

Waving hello!

Waving hello ... because that's the "new normal," right? For this fun card, I used several Lawn Fawn stamp sets ... The mermaid, rock, shell and sentiment are from Lawn Fawn's mermaid for you stamp set (and coordinating dies ). I used black ink and clear embossing powder to make the sentiment pop out against the background. The whale and splash are from my new favorite stamp set: get well (and coordinating dies ) ... perfect for many cards in this weird stage of life! The octopus is from the mini octopi my heart  stamp set (and coordinating dies ). The scuba diver and coral/seaweed accessories are from the you are sublime stamp set (and coordinating dies ). To make the card's background, I first went wild with distress oxide inks (in broken china and mermaid lagoon ) on Bristol smooth card stock.  I added flicks of water and acrylic paint I had on hand to add interest.  While I had my inks out (and my fingers dir...

April mood board inspired.

I love this month's mood board ... the colors are so bright and springy!  This week, I created a fun hello card inspired by the mood board.   April's colors are limoncello, sherbet, taffy and sugarplum.  LOVE! I used flowers and a leaf from the Flora & Fauna summer snail stamp set to create a random background and colored the images with Copic markers  (using other blending markers  would be fun, too!).  I used a black gel pen to add detail to the center of the flowers and in the white spaces of the background.   I used the Trinity Stamps hello sentimini stamp set and dies for the sentiments (this WPlus9 hand lettered hello stamp and die would also be perfect for a card like this), stamping the smaller sentiment in VersaMark ink  on black card stock and using white embossing powder .  I also added a layer of VersaMark ink and clear embossing powder to the hello die cut for a little more dimension.  To do ...

Thinking of You

Hi, Crafty Friends! This is Tiffany and today I'm sharing a spring Thinking of You card. We all know someone who can use a little cheer right now. I used several items available in the Butterfly Reflections, Ink. online store to create this card. I've been wanting to use vellum on a card for awhile now, I like how it gives a muted view of the patterned paper inside the Easter egg. Supplies Used : Lawn Fawn Easter Before 'n Afters Lawn Fawn Wavy Sayings Lawn Fawn Dandy Day 6x6 Paper Pack Lawn Fawn Simple Wavy Banners Lawn Fawn Large & Small Stitched Rectangles Lawn Fawn Scripty Hello Lawn Fawn Outside In Easter Egg Stackables Lawn Fawn White Embossing Powder Copic Markers Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Star Dust Stickles Tombo Mono Liquid Glue 3D Foam Squares Vellum, White Card Stock, Black Card Stock, and Silver Glitter Paper (from my craft stash) I hope this post finds everyone doing well! I hope to be back again soon!

Just wanted to say hi.

Hello.  I know this is a weird time for everyone.  So, I'm sending out some big (virtual) hugs and sharing some ideas for cards to help keep in touch with friends and family. It's no secret that I love clean and simple cards.  I made this week's cards by taping off the center portion of a panel of Bristol smooth card stock.  I blended two colors of distress oxide (even opting for a unique combo of purple and gray, below) before flicking the area with coordinating watercolor and acrylic paint. You can keep these cards super simple or add some additional interesting elements.  To make the HELLO letters in this card, I temporarily adhered the cut-out letters to a scrap piece of paper, pounced sticky ink and embossing powder over them, and set the embossing powder with a heat tool.  I usually add a second layer of ink and embossing powder for good measure.   I used colored card stock for the card bases of both cards to pull the whole...

Handpicked Bouquet

Happy Friday Crafty Friends!! It is Dana  here today hoping you all had a Wonderful week...I am ready for the weekend! Today, I have a card using the  Altenew: Handpicked Bouquet Stamp Set . I started my card by creating my background. I used  Spiced Marmalade,   Squeezed Lemonade,  and  Twisted Citron  Distress Oxide Ink. I blended my colors onto my card panel and then spritzed it with water. I set my panel aside to dry and began working on my stamping. For my floral image, I used the Gorgeous  Handpicked Bouquet  stamp set from Altenew...they really do make the most amazing flower stamp sets!! I stamped my flower image in greens, yellow and orange using my  Original MISTI Tool  to line everything up.  Next, I used the  Handpicked Bouquet Dies  to die cut my floral image. I trimmed down my ink blended background and stamped my sentiment from the Handpicked Bouquet stamp set. I attached my flo...

Quick Hello cards using Alcohol ink backgrounds and Concord&9th Say Hello diecut

Hi guys! Erica here! It’s Monday which means it’s my turn back on the BRI blog. Recently, I’ve been totally obsessed with alcohol inks and I’ve made so many background pieces it’s starting to get a bit ridiculous. I’ve challenged myself to make cards with them all before I’m allowed to make any more. In a recent blog post on my own blog , I made seven cards and told myself I could play with the inks again buuuuuuut then I realised I had another EIGHT backgrounds laying around...! I had to put my foot down with myself and set another goal of using more before I can make a single other piece. With that in mind, I made three cards for today’s post. I picked out three panels and adhered them to the card bases with double sided tape and then trimmed the excess off with scissors. The pieces I picked out ranged from a dark blue to a light blue, aqua and white mix. I also had the idea to make the overall design the same for all three cards, just changing up the colour schemes. I l...

Paper lace...

Hi, hello!  Norine here, with a couple of die cut cards to share.  You guys.  This Doodled Lace Cover die by Altenew isn't playing fair! It feels like such a cheat to simply die cut some cardstock, slap it on a card front and instantly have a beautiful card!  It should be harder than that! So, to elevate the amount of effort and thus feel better about myself (wink), after die cutting the complete background panel, I scissor-cut the main floral element from another die cut piece, colored it up with Copics (R01, R20, R32 for the petals and G12, G21, G24 for the leaves) and popped it up on foam tape.  I also die cut the word "hello" from grey card stock  with this Pretty Pink Posh Script die , stamped the word "friend" using the Altenew Halftone Hello set , and adhered that strip over the card background. Then I added some hole-less silver sequins and called it done! I really fell in love with that single floral element thoug...

Perfect Peacock Pair

Hello crafters! Ali here from alilovescardmaking ( instagram /youtube) with two cards in one of my favorite colour combinations: purple and green (well, turquoise really). I always think of Peacocks when these colours combine....is that the same for anyone else? I have used the fabulous Concord & 9th Dahlia Turnabout Die to create a stencil and produced these pair of bright and striking cards. I used some heavy weight card to create the stencil - this is because it does become quite saturated with ink if you are making a few cards at the same time, and the 'gaps' between the leaves can get delicate and tear if your paper is thin (trust me I know this from experience!!) you will need to cut and 'turn' the die 4 times - I just turned my paper 90 degrees after each cut and then used my eye to line the die up again (hint: turn the paper over and check from the back that your cut lines are not ;overlapping' with your last cut - I learned this f...

Hello

Hello, friends! Crystal here with my official last post as part of the Butterfly Reflections design team member. So I figured it ever ironic to make a card saying Hello since it's never really a "goodbye" but a "see you later". To make this card, I began by masking each side of my card panel, then stamping the floral background using Honey Bee Stamps Zen Bouquet in Altenew Deep Iris Crisp Ink. Next, attached silver thread to the "hello" from Winnie & Walter . This was attached to the card base using foam adhesive and topped off with Pretty Pink Posh silver confetti. I really like how the sentiment does not takeaway from the beautiful background stamp. I hope my tenure here has been a source of inspiration. I absolutely loved being part of this great team and working alongside Vanessa. Thanks again for a fantastic term, Cheers! Crystal
