Fantastically Foilicious!

Sympathy cards are not something we want to have to send, but we do. We send them to let those we care about know that we are thinking of them at a time of loss. We may not know the right words to say, but a handmade card just might touch them in a way that words cannot. Hi friends! I am glad to be back on the BRI blog today! Follow along to see how this fantastically foilicious (but hard to photograph) card is made. All the awesomeness just cannot be captured in a still image! I began with a 110lb 4.25" x 5.5" white cardstock panel. I pulled a stencil from my stash (any will do!) and placed over the panel. Secure to craft mat with washi tape. Next, spread Minc Reactive Paint or Art Screen Ink haphazardly across the taped down stencil. Carefully pull up the stencil while paint/ink is still wet and set panel aside to dry. Take a minute to wash the stencil with warm water (better now than later!).  The viscosity is a bit different between the Minc Reactive...

Crazy About You

Hi friends!  Thanks for stopping by today! I have an ink blended card, using a host of fun products from the Butterfly Reflections, Ink store! To begin, I took a white panel, masked off the center area with a piece of masking paper, and sponged in a range of Distress Inks from Ranger, using an ink blending tool. I then removed the mask, and began working on my sentiment. Using Avery Elle's Simply Said: Crazy stamp set , I stamped it in Versamark ink . I then white heat embossed the image, and added foil to it using the Heidi Swapp Minc machine. You could always use a laminator if you don't have the Minc. Once the image was foiled, I die cut it out with the coordinating die , and popped it up onto my card, adding the rest of the sentiment that was heat embossed onto black card stock. To finish it off, I die cut a few black hearts from Memory Box's Flicker Heart die , and added glossy accents to them. Thank you so much for joining me today! Have a great o...

Have a Monster Birthday

Hello to all the creatives out there! Janette here, I have returned from the CHA trade show and am so excited for all the new items that will be coming to the shop soon. If you have been following the BRI Instagram feed, you have seen just a glimpse of the goodness! Today's card features Create A Smile and Colorburst powdered watercolor. The images I used are digital, but a stamp set is available with the monster and similar sayings, Big Time stamp set . I wanted to foil the greeting, so I simply printed it from my laser printer. Want to foil a stamped image? You can stamp images in black and then copy those with a laser printer for the same result. I began by printing the greeting and monster on 110lb white card stock. Then, I colored the monster with Copic markers in BG57, BG49, BG45, YG23, G14, Y13, YR15 and added white dots with a gel pen . Of course, after I added the white dots I could hear this monster begging for a bit of texture. I wet the sleeve of the sweater...

Just Because I Love You

Hi, Jessica here!  Over the weekend I finally gave in and picked up a laser printer and now I'm foiling everything in sight!  Ha.  I'll attempt to not just post foiled creations this month but I did want to share one today! If you're a regular blog follower of mine you'll notice that this card is quite out of the ordinary for me.  Recently I've been trying to push out of my comfort zone and experiment with different techniques and styles...and I'm pleased with how this turned out!  From certain angles the card just looks black and white but then you tilt the card slightly and the pink foil really pops! I started off by stamping the Memory Box Wildflower Corner die onto a piece of white scrap paper with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink .  The trick to smooth foiling coverage is to make sure the ink covers the paper evenly.  I actually misstamped this the first time so I used a q-tip to fill in a couple bare spots!  Next I used the laser printer to...
