Bringing you some sunshine.

I am SO excited to share two special cards with you this week!  A list of products used can be found at the end of this blog post. In the past month or so, the timing has been just right for my kids and I to notice the sunrise at breakfast time.  We've seen some BEAUTIFUL skies ... to which my son always announces "Mother Nature is painting again!"  One sky, in particular, was so breathtaking that I knew it would inspire a card in some way: I took that photo with my phone through a window and look at that color!  So, my cards this week are two attempts to capture some of that awe-inspiring beauty. Both cards this week are cut to 4.25" square from smooth Bristol card stock.  I used purple tape to create a 0.25" (approximately ... no rulers involved!) border, which also secured the backgrounds to my work space.  For both cards, I used the My Favorite Things sunrise radiating rays stencil.  For one background, I applied VersaMark...

Friends make everything better

Hi Everyone!  I'm so excited to be back and sharing with you some inspiration for the BRI January 2020 Mood Board!  Make sure to tag your projects using #BRImoodboard on Instagram and on the Facebook group for a chance to win $20 gift certificate to Butterfly Reflections Ink ! The colors for this month are soft pastels with added texture.  My scene shows some girlfriends chatting and drinking coffee near a frozen river/lake.  Friends and coffee do make everything better right?!!  The card was inspired by the mood board image on the top left showing the frozen lake. This card was created using products from Pretty Pink Posh and a snow marker for added dimension/texture. Birthday shaker card

Hi, BRI friends! It's Dana here with another card for Wednesday. Here is what I came up with. To start, I stamped cute images from Neat and Tangled Puppy's Favorite Things stamp set and colored them with Copic markers. I drew simple line around puppy's left eye using Copic multi liner 0.1. I then gave highlights to all images using Singo White and fussy cut them out using scissors. The reason why he looks surprised rather than happy is he just realized his first number of age is changed! Lol. I then created background by stenciling. I used Neat and Tangled Balloon Duo Stencil and various Distress inks. I drew balloon strings using Copic multi liner as well. For shaker frame, I made it by die cutting two frame dies from Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames. I taped acetate backside of it and stamped sentiment from same stamp set using StazOn Jet Black as shown. I built a shaker with foam tape and pulled out various sequins in my stash on the stenciled panel and...

One stamp, three cards!

Hi guys! Erica on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog today and I've got two cards for you here. You might have come here from my blog CaCaCraft By Erica , where I have another card too. All three of today's cards are done with WPlus9's stamp set called Christmas Rose Bouquet . Here is a little sneak peek of the card on my blog in case you haven't seen it. I've done my usual thing of making two different looking cards using the same supplies. Both the images are stamped with black Memento ink and then again with VersaMark for good measure on Strathmore Bristol Vellum water colour card stock. A good sprinkling of clear embossing powder and a swish of my heat gun later, they were ready to colour. Earlier this year I got a 240 dot Daniel Smith water colour chart with the idea that I'd be able to pick a few of each colour family once I knew what they looked like. I told my husband my plan and promised to not go nuts with buying colours. We then looked a...

Lovely Peacock

Hi crafty friends! Crystal here today with my first official post as designer for Butterfly Reflections. I am thrilled to spend the next few months with y'all and hopefully stay a bit longer that that! ;)  So for my first post I have a card made using Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock.  I started this card by stenciling Hero Arts Peacock Layering cubes on the Hero Arts Peacock Feather stencil with a Ranger Mini Ink Blending tool.  Then I stamped the peacock from Hero Arts Color Layering Peacock using the ink cubes. I did stamp the feathered tail a bit higher on the bird so I fuzzy cut instead of using the coordinating dies.  The sentiment is stamped in Navy, and the sequins are decorated in Pretty Pink Posh Clear confetti mix.  This was a fun card to make, with tons of color! Thank so much for joining me today! Stop by the blog again next Friday for another of my post! Happy Weekend! Crystal

July Mood Board

Hello there! And happy summer! I have to say, I am pretty excited about this month's mood board! Even though I look over previous mood boards and see a variety over color combinations I start to feel like I am using the same colors over and over. And I feel like I use pink a lot. This month is a fun, summery, vibrant mood board that just makes me happy! Neon Yellow, Aquamarine, Teal & Chartreuse Image Source: Pinterest I seriously love these colors and my layout photos are not really doing it justice. My colors are a little off on my photos and it's driving me crazy. The yellow watercolor is definitely closer to neon in person and is it just me or are these pictures looking gray? Ah the joys of blogger! I have so many wonderful embellishments in my stash that I decided not to even use paper on this layout other than my background. Speaking of which, I finally broke in to my Gansai watercolors and O.M.G. it's LOVE! The Fancy Free collection matched so wel...

March Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board! I am not much of a pastel fan and because of that these boards I put together tend to be bold and rich colors. I think the early spring blooms and sunshine has me feeling quite the opposite right now! Pale Cyan, Soft Pink, Jasmine, Robin Egg Blue  And here's the layout it inspired! Have you ever scraplifted yourself!? That's actually what I did here from this layout . I occasionally do some digital scrapbooking and when I do I always find myself loving the designs and wanting to duplicate it with paper. Especially when it involves triangles.  I cut a bunch of triangles in various papers and figured out placement. Before gluing them down I moved them aside and added a bit of mist to my background. Most of this was going to be covered up but I still wanted to have that little something extra. After replacing the triangles I used my white embossing paste with one of my (many) triangle ...

February Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share the February mood board. I was immediately drawn to these gold on navy images and then pulled in the pink and minty blue to coordinate. It's makes a great non-traditional Valentine's Day palette too! Mint, Gold, Soft Pink and Navy Image Sources: Pinterest And here is my layout it inspired!  I started with creating my background by splattering several mist colors on white cardstock. Once the mist was dry I added white embossing paste with a stencil. Then I went back in and added a few rub-ons and stickers. Once my background was done I layered several papers from a few different paper pads and tucked in other elements like the gold foil die cuts, "awesome" overlay, stickers and enamel shapes. Layout titles are seriously the bane of my existence. I don't know why I struggle with them so much, but I do! I pulled these wood tiles from my stash and tried to piece something together and I think it turned ou...
