Thinking of You Orchid Card

Well hello there! It's World Card Making Day! And today, we have a FUN SKETCH we hope you play along with! I just LOOOOOOVE it!!!! Samantha here, and today I'm sharing an encouragement/get well type of card! My grandpa is currently battling colon cancer, and I'm determined to send him at least one card a week!  Anyway, let's get on to the goodness - the card! I love it! My grandpa is an avid orchid-expert and grower, they're a special flower to our family! So, it was a no brainer to make a card with this gooooooorgeous image from Avery Elle ! And guess what?! It's on sale - along with the coordinating dies !!! quick - grab them! lol! Ok, so I started by coloring my images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers! If you know me at all, you know that while I am in LOVE with coloring floral images...I'm more of a cute-sy critter color-er! lol! But I did m best to make this one slightly more realistic...slightly. lol!  I popped up the images with foam tape and...

Don't Blink!!

Hello! Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a FUN layout about our super BRIEF encounter with 'snow' here in South Carolina, last winter! It was SOOOO quick, it melted before touching the ground, and if you blinked, you would miss it! Ha! But it still counts, right?! Ha! I started by using gesso on my background, and then went crazy with the watercolor and paints in peaches, pinks, purples and black! SO FUN! Super loving that color combination! :) The gesso protects the white cardstock from deteriorating from all of the water and paints!  Once it was all dry, I used some white embossing paste and this AMAZING Knight Sky Stencil by Echo Park to add some stars and texture! After attaching those fabbie wood veneer chevrons, I covered them in clear glitter Stickles !! LOOOOOOVE that look!  And even though this is a winter layout, I used LOTS of ephemera from the Pink Paislee Summer Lights collection!! The pinks and purples were perfect matches! I also added ...

Ready Set...GO! Layout!

Hello! Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a FUN layout...hold on to your knickers, there's a TON of mixed media and painty goodness! Ha! I used about a million goodies from the shop, and don't forget: there's a  Spring Fling  section and a  Stamp + Die  section - all on SALE! So let's get into the nitty-gritty here: I started with a 12x12 piece of cardstock, then added gesso . Once that was dry, I added lots of Dina Wakely Media Paint to create the ombre background! Then I used a heart stencil and some sandy colored paint to add a layer of hearts! Once that was dry I added some text with a stencil and embossing paste ! and then I watercolored with my Gansai watercolors ON TOP OF THAT in my favorite color EVER - Aqua !!  Ok - whew! Are you still with me? Ha! I did lots of layering with various papers from 6x6 scraps I had on my desk, and ephemera! Mostly I used puffy stickers , leatherette stickers and other embellishments from the Pinkf...

Sunday Funday and a Layout!

Hello! Samantha here, and today I have another fun layout to share! :) woo-hoo! It's ok, you can calm down, we're not even at the FUN part yet! Ha! First, a little behind the layout story: My biggest little Mann just finished 1st grade!! It's crazy - I can hardly believe it happened! Anyway, every morning, we would load in the car and sit in the drop off line, eat our breakfast, sing along with songs and go over spelling words!  And the best part - we watched the sunrise almost every morning together! I just had to document this special thing, that we did everyday!  Ok, so I used a thin layer of gesso on the base of my layout. Then I added the photo and all of that lovely layering behind it! I used various papers from lots of 6x6 paper pads...of which, I have just a few (*whistle*). I used the awesome tiny phrases from the Rise and Shine Amy Tangerine collection in grey to support the story. And that cute little grey and wooden heart is from th...

A Snappy Hello

Happy Sunday!!!   Danielle here with a card to share! I got my latest package from Vanessa and had to play with all my new goodies!!  She got me with the new Evalicous stamp set - Photo Shoot!   I just love anything Cameras!!  I used some watercolor paper and patterned paper from the Shimelle Line.   So I heat embossed the camera and then used Distress Ink to reveal the resist.  You just don't know when to stop with Distress Ink! lol For the card base I used the EXCLUSIVE Butterfly Reflections Ink Stamps designed by Shanna Noel .  I used the same resist technique with more distress Ink.  To finish off the card I added some Sequins and Enamel Dots. Then Colored the wood veneers from Gossamer Blue ( OMG THEY ARE AMAZING!) with some Dina Wakley Paint.  You can get everything I used or something similar in the Butterfly Reflections Ink Store!  Check out the NEWEST products in stock here !  Products used on my c...

DIY Home Decor

Happy Tuesday lovelies, Danielle here!  I hope you have had a great weekend and are ready to be inspired.  Today I have for you a DIY Home Decor Piece.  Vanessa sent me some of the Dina Wakley Medium Paint with my last DT package.  So I have been dying to play with it and had the perfect idea.  These thin canvases have been laying around my scrap room for a while.  I decide it is the perfect time to use one of these bad boys.   I started off priming the canvas with Gesso.  Then I mixed some Distress Ink with Matte Embossing Paste to create sand.   Next I mixed the Dina Wakley Paint with Extra Thick Glossy Embossing Paste to create the background.  The Paint is so smooth and creamy!!   For the Flamingos I cut them out of the Websters Pages paper from some dies I had laying around. They came out adorable!!!  I used a marker for their eye and mouth.  I added some glittery embossing powder to the sand and me...

Another Love Story

Hello my little Butterflies..... Danielle here! I hope you all had a GREAT Labor Day Weekend!  I recently got my DT package and it was full of all kinds of goodies!!!  So I had to dig in and get all crafty over the holiday weekend.  This card is all kinds of crafty, texture goodness!  It all started with the 3 x 4 masks from Mr. Huey's /Studio Calico I wanted to use it in a different way.  So I taped it down to my piece of vellum and smooched my versamark ink pad down on it several times to get all the nooks and crannys.  Then I put the Super Fine Embossing powder on it. Quick Tip: Use Superfine Embossing powder on sentiments and images with fine detail for best results!  Then I got a card from the Jubilee Journaling cards, I have to admit the colors are super pretty together.  I quickly took a paint brush and swiped some of the Dina Wakley Medium Paint on the edges.  I love how it turned out, that paint is lusciously smooth an...
