Out of this World Celebration with Lawn Fawn!

Happy Sunday crafty friends, Ashley D. here, and so I’m excited to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog today to share with you my latest out-of-this-world creation!  For a few months now our space-loving seven-year-old has been excitedly counting down the days to tomorrow’s Yuri’s Night.  At first I believed this was simply a fictional celebration from his favorite episodes of Miles from Tomorrowland or Ready Jet Go!  But thanks to Wikipedia, I soon realized, yes indeed it’s real - a day for outer space fans and aficionados across the globe to celebrate milestones in space exploration.  How cool is that?!  On April 12 th , 1961, Yuri Gagarin, aboard Vostok 1, became the first human to launch into space, and exactly 20 years later the United States launched the very first Space Shuttle mission.  So, I decided to put together our own little mini version of this famous ‘World Space Party’ as a surprise for our two sons tomorrow night (and Dad too!)....

Oh So Jolly with Mama Elephant Little Agenda Friends

Hello crafty friends and happy Artist Sunday!    Ashley D. here.   I’m so excited to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog on the most perfect day to help celebrate those of us with a passion for creativity.     The holiday season is officially underway, and I’m so excited to be finally breaking out all those fun Christmas supplies.     Today I created a fun card featuring a wintery scene with some of my most favorite Mama Elephant Little Agenda friends.       I started by ink-blending a background with Distress Oxide ink ( Tumbled Glass ,  Chipped Sapphire ,  Faded Jeans ,  Candied Apple ,  Barn Door ,  Squeezed Lemonade  and  Scattered Straw ), onto  Bristol Smooth cardstock, then die cut it with the Mama Elephant  Hillside Cover Creative Cut .  I ink-blended another scrap piece of Bristol with the red and yellow Distress Oxide colors and die cut it using the new Mama ...

Cheers to the New Year!

Happy Monday crafty friends, Ashley D. here!  So excited to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink Blog today.  Christmas may be over, but we’re gearing up for one more celebration tomorrow night - welcome 2020!  I’m sure you’ve all checked out the December BRI Mood Board, and again I’m called to all things shiny and PINK.  Those beautiful blush pink ornaments reminded me of the perfect New Year’s accompaniment - BUBBLES!  And New Year’s most definitely wouldn’t be complete without the bubbly.   So, I created this fun, yet simple card inspired by a bottle of sparkling Rosé.  For the background I used a piece of white pearlescent cardstock brushed with a bit of Distress Oxide Spun Sugar ink, then die cut with the new Lawn Fawn Snowfall Portrait Backdrop die.  I turned it upside down to give the effect of rising bubbles like in a glass of Champagne.  I backed the open holes with pink glitter cardstock from the Lawn Fawn Sparkle...

It's the Great PINK Pumpkin!

Happy Sunday crafty friends, Ashley D. here!  So excited to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink Blog today and share with you this fun modern fall card with inspiration taken from the new October BRI Mood Board and Sketch challenge.  I’m just loving all these somewhat non-traditional fall colors!   I was totally drawn to those super cool pink pumpkins, and the lovely dark greens and aqua!  For this card, I began by blending Distress Oxide Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick inks onto two pieces of Bristol Smooth Cardstock.  I die cut one with the new Lawn Fawn Stitched Pumpkin Frame die, and the other with the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Pumpkin die.   I then splattered both pumpkins with a bit of Light Gold watercolor paint from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette.  For the background, I adhered a piece of Lawn Fawn Let’s Polka In the Meadow - Dew Drop Line Dance paper to a white card base, framed with a white scallo...

Rainbow Bridge Condolences

Happy Thursday crafty friends, Ashley D. here, for my last official blog post as a member of the Butterfly Reflections Ink Design Team!   I’ve had such a great time sharing some of my creations with all of you these last four months!   Thank you Butterfly Reflections Ink for this great opportunity, it’s be fun!    Today I have a super simple card I created for friends that recently lost their beloved Boston Terrier to the Rainbow Bridge.   I was so inspired by the darling new Waffle Flower Rainbow Bridge set and sentiments for this design.   For those that don’t know, the Rainbow Bridge is the place where beloved pets go to wait to be reunited with their owners in heaven.   I hope this brings our friends some comfort during this difficult time.    I began this card by lightly ink-blending Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass onto a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock, cut to 4.25” square using a trimmed down Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Recta...

Happy Easter with Mama Elephant!

Happy Thursday crafty friends, Ashley D. here!   It’s almost Easter, and I just love all the pastel colors and fluffy little animals this season brings!   So, I just had to create a simple Easter card using the fun little spring critters from Mama Elephant’s oh-so-cute Little Agenda series!   It’s one of my favorites by far, and each coordinates perfectly with all the others!   I began by cutting a simple white grid frame using the Mama Elephant Grid Window die – it’s the most seamless addition to ALL of the Little Agenda images.  You could also use the Mama Elephant Circular Grid die too!   I backed it with a simple ink blended background of Distress Oxide Cracked Pistachio on to Bristol Smooth Cardstock, cut into strips and adhered with foam tape.   I selected a handful of images from the Mama Elephant Little Bunny Agenda and Little Chickie Agenda sets to keep with my spring theme.  I stamped each with Memento Tuxedo Bl...

Spring Floral with Lawn Fawn

Happy Thursday crafty friends, Ashley D, here!   Since we’ve now had a couple days of sun, and a few days of rain, it feels like spring.   And I just felt like getting floral!   So today I created an easy floral card that can really work for any occasion with a simple change of sentiment.   To begin, I die cut a white A2 rectangular (4.25”x5.5”) using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables.   To create the swirl opening, I bisected the rectangular using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border dies, discarding the middle.   I then ink-blended a yellow background onto a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock using Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade , giving it the same stitched border.   I adhered to a plain white A2 cardbase with Tombow Mono Tape Adhesive , and then topped it with the first two white rectangle pieces with foam adhesive, giving the opening depth.   I then stamped several floral images from...

Springtime Tulips Have Arrived!

Happy Thursday crafty friends, Ashley D. here!   I think it’s finally spring in the Pacific Northwest.   And one of the hallmarks of spring here is the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, which runs annually the entire month of April in northeastern Washington State.   The area is home to the largest bulb grower in the world, with over a thousand acres of Tulips, Daffodils, and Irises.   It’s quite a spectacular sight and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.   So, with the big event beginning this week, I felt inspired to create a card featuring rows of brightly-colored tulips!   To start, I cut a frame from white cardstock using the Mama Elephant Tri Window Cover Die .   I love this die, it’s so versatile!     I then created an in-blended background with Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass onto Bristol Smooth Cardstock, stamping the sentiment from Lawn Fawn Our Friendship Grows set in the top third portion (using th...

Welcome to the Neighborhood with Lawn Fawn

Happy Thursday crafty friends, Ashley D. here again!   Today I have a simple card I created to accompany a little gift basket I put together to welcome a newcomer to our scenic little town.  I began by ink blending a sky backdrop from Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean onto Bristol Smooth cardstock, die cut with Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables (trimmed to 3.25” square).   For the scenic backdrop, I die cut mountains in kraft brown and white cardstocks using Lawn Fawn Stitched Mountain Borders .   I added a forest scape by die cutting tree and grass lines using Lawn Fawn Forest Border and Lawn Fawn Simple Grassy Hillsides in green cardstock.   I sponged a bit of Memento Cottage Ivy ink to the tops of the trees and tips of grass blades for a little added dimension.   For the street, I used the Lawn Fawn Simple Road Border , die cut in black and yellow cardstock.     I stamped the house, car, and mov...

"A Few of My Favorite Things..." with Lawn Fawn!

Happy Thursday crafty friends, Ashley D. here.   The recent Lawn Fawnatics blog challenge – “inspired by a book, movie, or song” really got my wheels turning and it made me think of one of my late father’s favorite musicals, and one of our favorite songs growing up – the Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic “My Favorite Things.”   And coincidentally, this month also happens to be the 54 th anniversary of the release of film adaptation of The Sound of Music.   Oh, and the tune is also getting some attention again, reinterpreted in the current chart-topper “7 Rings” by Ariana Grande.   So I just knew I had to turn it into fun card!     I revisited all 13 items listed in the song, wanting each to be represented, so I started by die cutting a frame from the Mama Elephant Grid Window die in white cardstock (the Mama Elephant Circular Grid die would work too), and backed it with a background created by   ink-blending Distress Oxide Squee...
