Simple Beauty With Altenew

Hi Crafty Friends! Ali here with two cards made using the wonderful Sayings from the beautiful Wings of Hope Stamp set from Altenew along with Persian Motifs and Beautiful Day stamp sets, also from Altenew. The sentiments of this set offer both support and sympathy - two of the reasons why I love being able to handmake a special card for a recipient.    Both cards are simple but celebrate the classic beauty of these sets. The first card is on a kraft card base. I stamped the sentiment from the wings of hope set on some kraft cart in versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder . I trimmed it and backed with a piece of vellum . I then stamped the flowers from Persian Motifs on some velum with versamark ink and white embossed, making sure the heat gun was quite hot and heating from the back of the vellum to prevent buckling.I die-cut the images.I arranged the sentiment in the middle of the card and adhered with 3D foam. I arranged the flowers around...

Modern Peony in Pink

Hi friends! Welcome back - it's another HUMP DAY...and my birthday celebration has NOT ended yet! :D Several girlfriends and I are doing an escape room Friday night, then dinner! THEN my celebration will officially be over! HA! Meanwhile, if you have followed along with Vanessa for very long, then you probably know about the loss of her brother! He battled some tough demons; Vanessa has kept her shop running, shipped packages non-stop amidst the angst and heartache. She's so strong! I stamped the images with Versmark and embossed with white embossing powder then colored with a base layer of Tombow markers and finished it off with Prismacolor Pencils. I did an all over background wash of gray, then added some stronger shadows under the flower and leaves. The sentiment was embossed on vellum and layered on top of other papers. I die cut 2 stitched squares to accentuate the flower an...

Fantastically Foilicious!

Sympathy cards are not something we want to have to send, but we do. We send them to let those we care about know that we are thinking of them at a time of loss. We may not know the right words to say, but a handmade card just might touch them in a way that words cannot. Hi friends! I am glad to be back on the BRI blog today! Follow along to see how this fantastically foilicious (but hard to photograph) card is made. All the awesomeness just cannot be captured in a still image! I began with a 110lb 4.25" x 5.5" white cardstock panel. I pulled a stencil from my stash (any will do!) and placed over the panel. Secure to craft mat with washi tape. Next, spread Minc Reactive Paint or Art Screen Ink haphazardly across the taped down stencil. Carefully pull up the stencil while paint/ink is still wet and set panel aside to dry. Take a minute to wash the stencil with warm water (better now than later!).  The viscosity is a bit different between the Minc Reactive...
