Beautiful Just Because Florals with Jenny Colacicco

Hi everyone! It's Jenny here, so excited to be back here on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog after what seems like forever! There's no place like home though right?! Today I have two floral lovelies for you featuring the same Copic color combo, but a different look.  The stamps I'm featuring today are Hero Arts Togetherness Flower Bouquet  and Pinkfresh Studio Just Because . If you're interested in the Copic colors I used, I've included a photo below!  I used these on both of my cards.   I stamped them both in Nuvo Hybrid Ink in Black Shadow which is my FAVORITE ink for Copic Coloring.   I have tried lots of different types and this one stamps very blackly, sharply, and I can color almost immediately without any smearing.  I also use Xpress-It Blending Card.  I have tried other paper types but I always end up with bleeding outside of my stamped images. For my first card, I colored in the main bouquet image and then trimmed i...

VIDEO - Bursting with Fun! | Stencils and Color Burst

Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here, and I'm so thrilled to be returned to the BRI blog - and I have LOTS of cards for you today - SEVEN!  I'm focusing on using stencils with Color Burst watercolor powders.    I'm using the just released Catherine Pooler Color Burst collection, and Butterfly Reflections Ink carries tons of other gorgeous colors in the store . For all my cards I'm using cold press watercolor cardstock .   You can check out the full video over on  YouTube .   My first two cards use the Catherine Pooler Designs (CPD) Perfect Vine stencil.  I laid out two sheets of cold press cardstock and on one I laid down the stencil, and then spritzed clear water  over the top with a Mini Mister .  I then quickly picked up the stencil and flipped it over onto the other piece of cardstock, pushed down to press the water remaining on the stencil into the cardstock and then lifted it up. Now for the fun part! ...

Loads o' Layers - Stamped Decoupage Cards - VIDEO

Hi Everyone!  It's Jenny here and I'm so excited to be back guesting on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog after what seems like forever!    I have three cards for you today, which all feature a decoupage style technique.  I'll show you how you can cut up your stamped images to create a 3D effect, and I have a video which show you how I created it in more detail which you can find here : My first card uses the  Pinkfresh Studio Lined Floral Background .  I stamped it five times in copic friendly black ink and then fussy cut it out at various sections used my Copics to color it. I colored each layer a different color of the rainbow, using three different shades for each layer.  I also didn't color all of each layer - only the bit I knew would be showing.  To get the edges nice and neat, I used a Memento Tuxedo Black marker to go around the edges of each piece. Once all the pieces were lined, I adhered the main back stamped panel to...

You Mandala My Day

Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here, and I'm so excited to be guest designing on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog again!  Today I have a clean and simple card that uses a couple of fun but impactful techniques. I die cut the My Favorite Things Magical Mandala  Dienamics from 100lb cardstock three times and adhered them together using spray adhesive (I used Krylon).  Have fun popping out all the little pieces! ;)  I covered the die cut stacked mandala in Versamark clear embossing ink on the top side and added a layer of embossing powder.  The embossing powder I used here is a copper green and gold mix, but you can literally use any type of embossing powder for this look and BRI carries lots!  (I'm very excited about getting the  Brutus Monroe Pink Champagne right now!) I added Versamark over the cooled embossing powder and added another layer.  I kept it at two layers only to avoid losing the detail in the mandala. If you are using fine...

Love X Stitch

Hi everyone! Jenny here, I'm back and gatecrashing the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog for today only.  I've got a fun card showing you how you can use one of the fab Paper Smooches cross stitch dies along with some stamping.  It takes a little effort but it's so fun! To create my card, I used the Paper Smooches cross stitch die to cut an A2 sized panel of thick (110lb) pale grey pink cardstock.  I die cut it in the centre.  It's important to use thicker cardstock for this as it makes it much easier to stitch. I then used a variety of DMC embroidery floss (6 strand skein) to stitch the panel.  I used a tapestry needle and 4 strands to stitch the panel, changing the floss colour every 4 lines of crosses.  You can create fantastic patterns with this die, but I wanted to do something fairly simple. When I completed the panel, I trimmed it down around the edges (don't cut any of the thread!).  I then die cut the same colour card and a piece of c...

Hashtag Winning

Hi Everyone! Jenny here with my last post of my official Butterfly Reflections Ink DT term .  To end with a 'boom', I'm using the Butterfly Reflections Ink/Bossy Joscie collaboration stamp sets #Hashtag and #Hashtag Bossy .  These sets are so funny and feature a great array of #hashtags for almost any day of the week :) To start, I die cut a butterfly from a piece of Inkadinkado Stamping Masking Paper trimmed to 4.25" x 5.5".  This butterfly is an older one from my stash but these by Reverse Confetti would work perfectly. I then trimmed a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock to the same size and overlayed the negative part of the masking paper so the bristol panel was fully covered.  Using Versafine Smokey Grey ink and an acrylic block , I stamped pretty much all of the individual tiny sentiments from both sets, both horizontally and vertically (both directions) all over the butterfly opening, making sure to overlap the edges. I then used ...

Pretty in pink (and purple)

Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here, and I'm taking a break from Christmas today (gasp!) to bring you two cards which use a cool stencil technique involving glitter paste, stencils and ink blending.  You don't even need layering stencils to create this look.  For my first card, I used a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and taped it to a craft mat.  I then used Distress Oxide inks in Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry and blended them over the A ltenew Layered Dahlia Stencil A using a mini ink blending tool. I removed the stencil and applied  Stencil B , making sure to line it up (it's easy to do). I applied  Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone .  This is my favorite Nuvo Glimmer Paste. It's clear with lots of iridescent sparkle. I found whne i applied it over the Oxides, it almost appeared to take on the colour it was applied over.  Very cool look!  I trimmed down the panel when dry and popped it up on a pale rose cardbase, lined with s...

Happy Holidays Deer!

Hi everyone! Jenny here with a fun holiday card using non-traditional colours featuring a cool stamp from the Crate Paper Snow & Cocoa collection. BRI carries all of this collection which also includes some co-ordinating papers, stickers, and other embellishments to play with.  I have a video showing the full detail on how I created this card over on my channel on YouTube : To create the card I applied my powder tool onto Bristol Smooth cardstock and stamped the three snowflakes from the set all over in Versamark ink . I heat embossed in white embossing powder .  I then die cut a heart from masking paper using a Hero Arts Infinity Heart die and adhered it to the embossed panel. I then ink blended using my mini blending tool three colours of Hero Arts Dye ink (Bubblegum, Ultra Pink and Soft Pink) over the top and removed the mask.  I trimmed down the panel slightly and adhered it to a 110lb white card base.   I then stamped out the reinde...

Deck the Tree with lots of Craft Stuff - fa la la la!

Hi Everyone! Jenny here with a non-card post.  How about using some of your crafty supplies for creating holiday decorations?  Even non-Christmas themed craft supplies no less? In this week's post I'm building on the technique I showcased in this post here - using Nuvo Drops to create a stained glass look. Today I'm going to show you how to go one step further and create a cool little decoration to hang on your tree or wall or anywhere you like! To start, you need a die that has plenty of open areas that you can drop your liquid medium into (you can use Nuvo Drops, Liquid Pearls, Glossy Accents, Ranger Enamel Accents - all work well, but are different consistencies).  I'm using the Altenew Dodec Star Die which is perfect  for this technique. To start with, die cut the shape from strong cardstock (at least 110lb, any colour you like -only the edges will show), 4 or 5 times, and then twice from a nice cardstock of your choosing (I used glitter and foil car...
