December Mood Board-Inspired Christmas Card

Hello there!  It's Andrea Shell with you today.  It's been a long time since I've guest-designed on the BRI blog, but it's always such a pleasure.  My favorite part is being able to combine products from multiple companies, as I've done on today's card.  Speaking of my card, it was completely inspired by the gorgeous December Mood Board (It will be revealed tomorrow, but I'm giving you a little sneaky peek).  I just love the colors and the wintry feel of the board! When I saw Concord & 9th's Tiny Trees Turnabout stamp, I immediately fell in love with it!  It makes it so easy to create fabulous backgrounds for your holiday projects.  To help with placement, I used my MISTI and Concord & 9th's Original Turnabout Jig .   I stamped the first three layers in dye inks and then silver heat-embossed the final layer.  Once I was finished stamping, I trimmed down the panel, matted it with navy cardstock, and adhered the piece to a whit...

Easy Floral Card with Jess + Brutus Monroe

Hey y'all! It's Jess and I'm back with another card for you today! I'm always in need of cards for those occasions that pop up at the last minute. It's nice to have a few on hand that can work for many different situations so you'll always have something if you're in a pinch! With that in mind, I designed this card using Brutus Monroe's Botanical Banners stamp set. This is one of my favorite floral stamp sets - it's so versatile! I've used this is so many ways and it never disappoints. To get started, I cut down a piece of cardstock using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Rectangle dies . I stamped the large floral image from the set in black ink and grabbed a few Tombow Dual Brush Pens. I scribbled on my media mat with the markers and spritzed them with water. I used a water brush to do a very basic 'loose watercolor' technique. This is basically a fancy way of saying I didn't want to stay in the lines! While I still had my water br...

July Mood Board Inky Inspirations

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Hope your week is going well! Today I went a little crazy with the AWESOME July Mood Board from Butterfly Reflections, Ink and made a ton of cards with that as my inspiration. In case you haven't seen it, here's the mood board for this month. Loving it, right?! So for today's post, I'm going to start talking about all of the different inks I used. I wanted to make a variety of cards with a variety of techniques so I chose  Distress Oxide Inks  (with one regular distress ink in there, too), Hero Arts Dye Inks, and new to me,  Catherine Pooler  Inks. Below is a picture with all of the colors that I chose. Let's start with the  Catherine Pooler  inks,  Stone Blue,   Skylight ,  Polished , and  Rose Petals . As I said, this was my first time using these inks and I was SO EXCITED because so many people say wonderful things about them. And let me tell you, they're all true! I really appreciate that y...

Brutus Monroe, True Love Luggage...

Hey folks, it's Norine  and I'm back on the blog again today and switching it up from all the flower cards a couple of days back.  Today I'm sharing a couple of cute and simple cards! I stamped the image from the True Love Luggage stamp set by Brutus Monroe  twice, once onto Strathmore Bristol smooth cardstock for coloring with the Zig Clean Color markers (the Bon Voyage card), and again onto Neenah Solar White cardstock for coloring with Copics (the "Follow You Anywhere card). I stamped the sentiments using individual alphabet stamps like these ones from Lawn Fawn, called Milo's ABCs .  The Bon Voyage sentiment is stamped with all the alphabets bumped together on the MISTI , but for the "follow" sentiment, I didn't have as much room to fit it all in so I drew a line with a straight edge and a pencil, and stamped each letter individually. The Bon Voyage card is a top-folding A2 size card and when I messed up the stamped sentiment...

Happy New Year

Hello everyone! Kevin here sharing my final post as a BRI designer. My time flew by so quickly! I loved working with such a great company, team, and community. Thank you so much to you all for making me feel welcome here! Now lets take a look at this fun New Year's card- I started by trying something a little new to me- no line Copic coloring. I really was intimidated by it at first but I chose a simple and fun image from Brutus Monroe's Birthday Bears . I love these little guys. Then I took a fun banner stamp and first and second generation stamped it across a white panel before adding it to a gray card base. Finally, a simple sentiment finished it off. Thank you so much for stopping by today and checking out my final post as a BRI design team member. Thank you to Vanessa and the rest of the team for having me as part of the BRI family. See ya around. :)

Clean & Simple Christmas Card

Hey everyone! I have one final Christmas card to share with you all before we hit the big day! I went back to what I know best for this project- clean and simple. But don't worry, I added something a little extra so it won't be a bore for the recipient. I started by adding the wow factor- SNOW! How cool is the Marvy Snow Marker ?! It is amazing. I added a little to my card base as a place to ground the cutest little bunny from Brutus Monroe's Birthday Bears stamp set. Some fun snow flakes from Folk Art Flurries by W+9 added a little more interest. Finally, a simple sentiment finished this CAS. Thanks for stopping by and have a great holiday!

Botanical Birthday with Brutus

Hi Everyone! Jenny here with a delicate and soft birthday card using a wonderful stamp ' Botanical Banners' by Brutus Monroe .  The card uses watercolor, heat embossing and dry embossing - here's how I created it. I used some Altenew Spicy Yoghurt cardstock for the background panel, trimmed down to A2 size, which I dry embossed using a Tim Holtz/Sizzix Roses embossing folder. The Tim Holtz embossing folders give a gorgeous subtle effect and create a wonderful impression that is create to add texture without making a card busy, so you can still keep it clean and simple.  I recently got this one and can't wait to use it.  Bring back dry embossing :) I added a border frame with the same cardstock by using two of the Hero Arts Infinity Rectangles and adhering the frame to the embossed panel with Ranger Multi Medium Matte .  I adhered the panel directly to a card base.  For some subtle color, I mixed some pink watercolor up and flicked it on to the pane...

Beary Happy Birthday!!

Hi everyone, It's Jenny here with a cute Birthday card to share using the amazingly cute and cuddly Brutus Monroe Birthday Bears . To create the card, I stamped the Bear with the balloons in Versafine Onyx Black ink onto some smooth Bristol cardstock.  I then colored him in with some waterbased markers (Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers). I wanted to do some ink blending over the top but he was too fiddly to fussy cut a mask for, so I used some Rubber Cement and just painted it straight over the top.   Once dry (just a few minutes), I blended Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry and Squeezed Lemonade top to bottom.  A few sprinkles of water and boom! awesome background :)  To remove the rubber cement, just gentle rub with your finger and it rolls right off. I die cut the piece out with a stitched frame die, and then for a bit of fun, I decided to emboss a die by My Favorite Things ( Peekaboo Jumbo Circle ) using my big shot, a Texture pad and a silico...
