"Hello Summer" Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout //Simple Stories

Hey friends...Happy Tuesday!  Heather here to share a fun and bright summer scrapbook layout.  The picture is of my daughter and nephew about five years ago and I still hadn't scrapped it....crazy huh? because it is soo cute!  My daughters shirt has a little pineapple and flamingo on it and worked so well with the Simple Stories Hello Summer Collection .   Per usual, I started with a piece of white cardstock and added a layer of clear gesso .  I love using white cardstock because of the way the bright colors pop!  To add some color behind my photos and embellishments, I used Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Ink , Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink , Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink , and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink mixed with some water  by smooshing on the paper with some plastic packaging and a paint brush.  Once dry, I added some platters with the same colors.       Since this collection has a pineappl...

"Me & You" scrapbook layout // Doodlebug Designs Hello Collection

Hi crafty friends! I hope you are having a great week and had time to play with some paper today!  Heather here to share another project with you using the Hello collection from Doodlebug Designs.   After three layouts, I have so much product left for probably another few layouts!  This layout is of my daughter and husband out on a "daddy-daughter date"...so sweet! This layout came together so much quicker than normal , but it was easy when I had all of these adorable speech bubbles from the Hello Collection chit chat package.  I couldn't narrow down the ones I wanted to use because they all had such cute messages...so I add them all! I started with a 12 x 12 piece of black cardstock and started laying down the speech bubbles I wanted to use.. .spacing them out like a puzzle.  I have been reaching for a lot of black cardstock lately because I love the way the bright colors look against the dark background...Once I had them placed ...

Charmed...

Hi, hello!  Norine here, back again with some floral cards to share with you.  I made 5 with one image from the Charmed stamp set by Altenew .   It wasn't my intention to make that many, (it never is) but I do like to stamp several in case one or two go straight south, then I still have some back ups.  But there were no oopsies this time, I kinda liked them all and couldn't eliminate any. The other reason for so many, was to try out a couple of different surfaces with the Prima IOS Water-Soluble Oil Pastels .  All the first cards are stamped on watercolor paper, and the last two are on vellum. These oil pastels are thick, and rich and creamy and a little goes a long way.  Just a few strokes of color inside the flower shapes, once activated with water, was enough to cover the whole flower. The card below was created using the red, orange-yellow and salmon pink pastel crayons.  The "thanks" sentiment is from the Deerest Friends set by ...

a Wink and a Nod to Mixed Media in Cardmaking

Hello! Samantha here on this Halloween eve! :D I have a super FUN card to share that I made with AMAZING products from the Butterfly Reflections Ink store! Here's a little snippet of what this post is all about! Oh yes! Lots of layers, texture and fun!! Ok, here's the full card: First I used some gelatos to create the blue background. I scribbled them onto some Tim Holtz Watercolor paper and then added lots of water with a paintbrush to blend and move the colors around! I also finished off the color (once it was dry!) with some Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink on a few of the edges! But you could totally create the SAME look with watercolors! Then I stamped a few the adorable and beautiful small, text style sentiments from the Over the Rainbow Butterfly Reflections Ink EXCLUSIVE stamp set multiple times. I also did some 2nd generation stamping with the same sentiments. Then I stamped some of the small clustered stars in Tumbled Glass Distress Ink  to add a li...
