July 2021 Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board and, can I just say, I absolutely LOVE this one! As I was working on finding just the right images to use I was envisioning projects with a lot of white space to really allow these colors to pop like they deserve. I know I just gave you a yellow last month (I hate being repetitive, but it's hard sometimes!) but where as that one was cool and airy this one is rich and warm, and I am totally digging it paired with the mulberry. I rounded out the palette with another cool/warm combo with an almost-purple soft pink and a slightly orange pinkish-red. Gotta love those undertones! 😉 Bubblegum, Honey, Poppy, Mulberry Image Sources: Pinterest I can't wait to see what you all come up with this month! Be sure to share your creations on Instagram with #brimoodboard for a chance to win a $20 credit to the shop. And we'd love for you to follow our challenge account @brimoodboardchallenge where we share the boards and c...

Have a Happy Spring Moodboard Inspiration!

Hi everyone, Peggy here with some moodboard inspiration. Wishing you all a very happy spring! Today I'm sharing a clean and simple but very pretty butterfly card. Let me show you how I made it! Butterflies make me think of the shop ! And of course of spring. I started out cutting two card bases and two slightly smaller panels from the newest Lawn Fawn Paper Pack Perfectly Plaid Remix . This paper pad truly is perfection. It also fits the current moodboard so nicely! From the Lawn Fawn Inside Out Stitched Rectangle Stackables I cut panels using the second to largest die. I used some Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink to stamp the sentiment 'Have a happy spring!' as well as the butterfly images from Lawn Fawn Simply Celebrate Spring . I matched my copic colors to the current moodboard. I used my tape runner to adhere the patterned paper and used foam tape to pop up the white stitched panels. I used some foam dots to pop up the butterflies. I finished my images with some white gelly...

March 2021 Mood Board

Hello there! Spring has sprung today with this month's mood board! Pink and yellow is one of my favorite color combos, especially when paired with orange. But, as much as I was tempted to, we're not going with orange today. I've paired a soft warm pink and bold yellow with two cool greens to create a fresh floral palette perfect for the start of the season! Peony, Daffodil, Spring Green and Evergreen Image Sources: Pinterest You guys wowed me again with your creations using last month's colors. I can't wait to see what you all come up with this month! Hopefully you have just as much fun with this one! Would you believe in the 7 years I have been doing these boards, this is only the second time I've done pink for Valentine's Day? And the last time was last year 😂 This time we're giving it a bold update with hot pink and black! It's not very often I include neutrals in my color boards, and today we have two! I have a feeling this is going to be a lot more versatile than it appears at first glance and I can't wait to see what you all do with it! Hello and happy New Year! I know most of us are pretty happy to leave 2020 behind but hopefully you have something positive from it to take in to the new year. I think we're off to a good start with this month's mood board featuring a little sparkle and ice for some winter glam vibes! I love doing soft wintry colors this time of year, I always envision projects with lots of white on white texture and pops of soft color, but this year I also wanted to do something a little more New Year's Eve party. The combination of the two came together so well! I'm absolutely LOVING this palette and I hope you do too! Icy Mint, Powder Pink, Rose Gold and Deep Space Blue Image Sources: Pinterest I can't wait to see what you all come up with using this color combo! September 2020 Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board. I always do my best to keep these palettes seasonally harmonious while still pulling together unexpected or challenging combinations. I love transitions between seasons because it allows a little more room to play around with my choices. This month we're just hinting at (and wishing for) fall with the muted deep blue and rusty orange but keeping it fresh, light and modern with soft pink and a light metallic gold. I know I say it all the time, but I just love how these colors came together! Pale Dogwood, Stardust, Twilight and Terra Cotta Image Sources: Pinterest I can't wait to see what you all come up with using this palette! August 2020 Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board. Last month's color scheme was all about the heat, but now we're flipping to the other side of the spectrum and cooling things down. I haven't been camping on a lake since I was a kid but for some reason that's what this color palette makes me think of. I can just imagine late summer/early fall evenings on a secluded lake with a small private cabin and dock. Sounds perfect right about now!  Iced Melon, Aqua Sky, Steel Blue and Plum I can't wait to see what you all do with this palette! Be sure to share your creations on Instagram with #BRImoodboard, or keep an eye out for the link up over on Davina's blog, for a chance to win a $20 credit to the shop! We had so many wonderful entries for the July mood board, it's always so fun to watch what you all come up with! The random winner for July is Kavya with this adorable creation! Moodboard Desert by Davina

Hello hot stuff! Today I have a bold sizzling slimline to share using all Lawn Fawn Products and inspired by the July Moodboard.  This Moodboard was very difficult for me to work with. I must admit that reds and deep oranges are the colors that I use the least. And although these colors are gorgeous, I’m just super intimidated by them. This spicy July Moodboard brings to mind candy and Starbursts, and delightful food & delicacies. But I don’t make food cards very often, I like to create stories and scenes. So I really had to brainstorm to come up with a perfect scene. Because, I like the challenge, and I didn’t want to give up and take the easy way out haha 😂 While flipping through my unused stamps, I came across the Lawn Fawn Crazy Antics . And it hit me, red fire ants. Living my entire life in the deserts of the South West part of the country, I’ve seen plenty of red fire ants. Then, my brain starting thinking about red deserts... red rocks, Sedona etc... If only I had a dog...

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board and it's bringing the summer heat! While I normally gravitate towards complimentary color schemes, sometimes I like to switch it up with something more on one spectrum. I Lava You!

Hi everyone, Ashley here and I'm so happy to be sharing another card with you on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog! Today, I played along with the Butterfly Reflections Ink February Mood Board. If you want to find out more about the mood board, check out this post on the BRI blog. I challenged myself to stay within the colour themes of the board (pinks, red and silver) while building a scene that wouldn't normally be built with those colours. I think the final result is pretty cool! To make the background, I first blended some Distress Oxide Ink in Spun Sugar onto a panel of watercolour paper using the My Favorite Things Cloud Stencil . I then used more ink blending (Distress Oxide Ink in Festive Berries , Barn Door , Worn Lipstick and Iced Spruce ) to make the puff of lava and smoke erupting from the volcano. I masked off everything but the lava puff, and splattered it with water, silver watercolour paint and red watercolour paint. I added some sequins and hea...

February 2020 Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board. I've been putting these color palettes together since August 2014, can you believe that!? I was looking through all of them going back to the beginning and realized I have NEVER done a Valentine's Day inspired board. How is that possible? Maybe it's because I'm not really in to the holiday but I'm not opposed to pink, hearts, and flowers! (or chocolate😉) It's been awhile since I've done a monochromatic look and thought this was the perfect opportunity, I did however decide to throw in a little silver sparkle for fun! Metallic Silver, Carnation Pink, French Rose, Poppy Red Image Sources: Pinterest I hope this palette inspires you to create some fabulous new projects! We love seeing what you all come up with! Be sure to share you creations on Instagram with #BRImoodboard or in the  Facebook Group ! And for a chance to win a $20 credit to the BRI shop, keep an eye out on  Davina...

I don't feel like I do soft colors very often, but every time I do I just love how it turns out. I think the lightness of it just speaks to my modern aesthetic in a way. December Mood Board!

Hello there! Amanda here to share this month's mood board! Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the season, it's my favorite time of year! I have been loving all the pink Christmas things I've been seeing and that was the inspiration behind the color choices this month. The pink, red and aquamarine were just a no-brainer for me but I struggled with the direction of the fourth color. After bouncing around between a couple shades of blue I changed gears and went for a classic green and I love how it turned out! Bubblegum, Cardinal Red, Aquamarine, Kelly Green Image Sources: Pinterest I hope these colors inspire you to create something new and fabulous! I can't wait to see what you all come up with! Be sure to share by linking to your projects in the comments below or on Instagram with #BRImoodboard. Don't forget, one random participant will receive a $20 credit for the shop! November Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board. I know a lot of you are churning out one Christmas card after another right now but hey, it's still fall, right? I was really feeling the jewel tones this month. I was tempted to throw mustard yellow in the mix but opted for gold instead. I feel like it's a little unexpected but oh so gorgeous with that juniper green! Now I KNOW I gave you green and orange last month but don't they just have a different feel here? This green is a bit blue toned which gives it a nice richness and the orange is deeper and less muted. See? Different. So here we have it - Gold, Juniper, Rust and Currant Image Sources: Pinterest I hope these colors inspire you to create something new this month! Please be sure to share your projects in the comments below, on IG with #BRImoodboard or in the Facebook group for a chance to win a $20 store credit to the shop! One lucky participant will be chosen at random. Can't w...

October Mood Board + Sketch!

Hello there, and happy World Card Making Day! Amanda here today to share this month's mood board. I was shopping new products in the shop and totally loved some of the new Halloween collections that have come in. I was inspired by the unexpected pink and orange combo in the Happy Haunting line. I mean seriously, how cute are these? So I went with a slightly softer pink and muted orange and paired them with these rich fall greens! Pearl Pink, Squash, Antique Moss, Forest Green Image Sources: Pinterest And since it is World Card Making Day, I threw together a card sketch for you all too! I hope you all like it! I left it as a pretty basic sketch, but I know you guys will work your magic! I hope this palette and sketch inspire you to create something fun and new! Be sure to share your creations with us!
