Boo! Happy Halloween!

Hi crafty friends! Happy October! Today I have a colorful Halloween card that features Lawn Fawn stamps! Before I get into today's card, I have a friendly PSA: if you are about to recreate the colors of candy corn, double check on Google to make sure you have the colors in the correct order before creating the entire background and sticking it permanently onto your card base. (Ask me how I know, ha! Sigh... 😂) And now onto my card! For the background, I stamped the images with the different inks to create a tone on tone look. I mounted the panel onto a piece of fun foam and then glued it onto the black sparkle card base. I had created my own sparkly black cardstock by taping a border around the edges and then covering the sticky tape with embossing powder. (I knew I was going to adhere a panel in the middle so I only needed a border of sparkle.) After heat setting it, the cardstock looked like it was glitter cardstock.  To create the focal sentiment, I die cut the "B" ...

Fluttering by with Erica

Hi Butterfly Reflections Ink Friends!  It’s Erica here, guesting for the BRI blog today, with a butterfly card, of course!  I started out by stamping the butterflies from the brand new Butterflies stamp from Pinkfresh Studio, with Blackout Ink , on Ranger water colour paper . I like that paper because it’s bright white. I also heatembossed it with clear embossing powder on top, as I was planning on adding some colour to it with a mix of Sweet Petunia Pink , Shark Tooth White and Liquid Pixie Dust .  If you want to make shimmery water colors, make sure you get some of that magical Liquid Pixie Dust ! Add a drop or two to a palette with a few drops of re-inkers of your choice. Easy peasy!  While that was drying, I worked on a background with the Diamond Motif slim line stencil and Distress Oxide inks in Kitsch Flamingo and Iced Spruce . I used blending brushes to give a soft look, and did this on Bristol Smooth paper. This piece was trimmed down to be just ...

Walking On Sunshine!

Hello there! Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a card that was inspired by the incredible April Mood Board ! I just love the colors and images! swoon! For my card, I was smiling from ear to ear as I broke out these *exclusive* Butterfly Reflections Ink stamps again! They're so adorable! I used the rainbow, clouds and sun image, but believe me - ALL of the images were calling my name! I just love them! They're from the Breathe Rainbows stamp set ! And I paired them with the sentiment from Over the Rainbow ! So cute! For the background, I used Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberries and Dried Marigold! Then I splattered some water on top! Next, I used the Hello Baby Boy Twinkling Stars Stencil from Echo Park and some white embossing paste to add some texture to the background! I heat embossed the sentiment in white onto a strip of black cardstock, and then popped it all up with Foam Tape ! Thanks for hanging out! I hope you play along with the April Mo...

You've Been On My Mind

Hello there! Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a card I created for my Grandma's birthday! I was inspired by the March Mood Board ! Love these colors, and these images are just so FUN! For my card, I used the cutest floral images from Avery Elle : Sending Hugs and Sending Flowers ! And let me tell you, it was a struggle not to use those cute critters!! But I stuck solely with the flowers and I really like how pretty it came out! I colored all of the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and then used the coordinating dies to die cut them all out! I popped some of the flowers up with foam tape , to add dimension!   I heat embossed the sentiment in white onto some vellum ! Then I die cut the vellum strip with the Fancy Wavy Banners Die from Lawn Fawn! I sprinkled some warm yellow sequins around the envelope too! And I can't forget, for the background, I used a strip of the super awesome Dotted Washi Tape from Altenew ! Hope you play along with the BRI Mood...

Set of Mama Elephant Holiday Cards

Hi crafty friends! Sophie here and today I'm sharing this fun duo of holiday cards featuring supplies from Mama Elephant. I hope you enjoy!!  I used the Mama Elephant Favor Bag Fox and die cut him out of Lawn Fawn Canned Pumpkin Cardstock .  I used ink to darken the edges so he really stands out from the background. I used Pumpkin Spice ink for the blue card and Doe ink for the brown card. It really gives the cardstock a unique look!  For the backgrounds of these cards I used the Lawn Fawn Let it Shine paper pad and ink blended on the top edge for an ombre effect. It really adds so much to patterned paper when you add ink blending!  For the sentiments I heat embossed greetings from the Mama Elephant Puffy Holiday Greetings set in gold onto black cardstock and tucked it into the little fox's hands.  I hope you enjoyed these simple holiday cards! They came together so quickly and would be easy to mass produce for holiday cards. See you all next week! :...

Well hello there! It's World Card Making Day! And today, we have a FUN SKETCH we hope you play along with! I just LOOOOOOVE it!!!! Samantha here, and today I'm sharing an encouragement/get well type of card! My grandpa is currently battling colon cancer, and I'm determined to send him at least one card a week!  Anyway, let's get on to the goodness - the card! I love it! My grandpa is an avid orchid-expert and grower, they're a special flower to our family! So, it was a no brainer to make a card with this gooooooorgeous image from Avery Elle ! And guess what?! It's on sale - along with the coordinating dies !!! quick - grab them! lol! Ok, so I started by coloring my images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers! If you know me at all, you know that while I am in LOVE with coloring floral images...I'm more of a cute-sy critter color-er! lol! But I did m best to make this one slightly more realistic...slightly. lol!  I popped up the images with foam tape and...

Clean And Simple Pops Of Colors with Guest Designer Erica

Hi BRI fans!  It’s Erica guesting on the blog today, and I have a CAS but colourful card to share with you all.  I have used the Hero Arts & Ink Blot Shop collaboration stamp set, Please Deliver , because it’s freaking adorable! I did misjudge the placement a little bit but oh well. It is a handmade card after all, not a Hallmark printed one, right? First off, I stamped up the pencils along the bottom of a 5.5”x4.25” piece of Neenah #110 card stock, with Copic friendly ink. I used Picket Fence Studios Black Hybrid ink, but you can use whatever Copic safe ink you have. My Mini MISTI made sure I got a good solid image too. Then I flipped it over, and stamped it on the other side too.  Using SO MANY Copics, I coloured in the pencils in a rainbow order. Below you can see the notes I made as I went along. It’s not overly tidy but it was more for a reference point than something to keep. I did mark the fifth pencil’s colour down upside down, it’s supposed to be R59,...

Loads of Happy Mail from Erica

Hi guys! Today I have the pleasure of being a guest designer here on the Butterfly Reflections Ink Blog . Oh and hi, it’s Erica , by the way. I had an idea (for ONE card) in mind when I started making it but things kind of took a life of its own and all of a sudden, I was making four. Because why not? Two are done with heat embossing and Distress Oxide resist emboss ink blending, and the other two are just straight up stamped and coloured with Copics. All four cards have the Mail Background stamp from Neat & Tangled on them. The two done with heat embossing are done in Opaque Bright White embossing powder from WOW! Embossing. This is probably my fave white embossing powder, however there are many good ones to choose from HERE . They actually looked really nice with just the heat embossing done. These would make perfect backgrounds for Clean And Simple designs. A little bit of interest and texture but in white on white it’s...

A Holly Jolly Christmas Card

Hi there! Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a super fun and festive card using a bunch of Lawn Fawn products! Ho ho ho - Santa's sneaking some cookies before delivering the presents under the tree! Ha! I combined the stamp sets Christmas Dreams and Ho-Ho-Holidays to create this little Christmas eve scene! I fussy cut out all of my images, but never fear, there are coordinating dies to ease your pain! All of the images were colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers! I also used some older patterned papers from Lawn Fawn for the wallpaper and carpet of the room! Then I used Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks to add shading to the edges. And then I used Vintage Photo and a tiiiiiiiiny bit of Black Soot to add shading to the carpet! I also splattered some color too, because...well, I just love that look! ha! I finished off the card by adding foam tape to the santa, tree and stockings! I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing p...

Rainbow Happy Birthday Cards with Erica and Studio Katia goodies!

Hi guys! Erica here! Today I have the pleasure of being a guest designer here on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog! I have two bright and happy birthday cards using the It's Your Birthday stamp from Studio Katia . Both are heat embossed, the backgrounds are faux water coloured and both are sprinkled with Studio Katia sequins. To start with I cut out two panels of water colour card stock , and on these I dragged mini Distress Ink cubes in thick lines. With a wet wide paint brush , I blended the colours together to create the faux water colour look. You can get a similar look with any kind of water based mini ink cubes . It doesn't have to be Distress Inks. These I set aside to dry. They had to be absolutely bone-dry before I could carry on with the next step: Heat embossing. Even with an anti-static tool , I find that the powder gets stuck in places you don't want it in, if the panel isn't dry enough. The sentiment, Happy Birthday To You , was heat emb...

MFT Stamps - Little Buddies

Happy Tuesday crafty friends! Danielle here up on the BRI blog with a fun card featuring some old and some new dies and stamps from My Favorite Things! I simply adore the way this card turned out especially because it reminds me of my son Noah and our kitty Molly. I started off using one of the images from the stamp set Little Buddies and stamped directly onto my cardstock.  I then stamped the same image, this time on some Gina K Masking Magic paper and fussy cut around the image.  This is because I wanted the little boy to appear to be sitting on the grass with the hills and trees behind him.  Once I applied my masked image,  I used the new Scene Builder and stamped my grass with flowers and the hills with trees.  Once all my images were stamped I removed the masking paper to reveal the adorable scene.  I always love seeing the whole image once everything is stamped!  It's such a fun technique and can be used with any stamps you may have! ...

Avery Elle Hummingbird

Hello, it's Amanda   and I'm here today featuring a GORGEOUS stamp/die combo by Avery Elle called Hummingbird . I was so happy to see this set in the shop because it's one that I'd been wanting to color up for a while. I love hummingbirds and it's just about time to get my feeders out and enjoy the return of these beauties to South Carolina! So I stamped out the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and Copic colored them. (for a list of colors used, see below) . I die cut using the coordinating dies . I used Broken China distress ink on my white panel cut slightly smaller than my dark purple A2 sized card base. I added a bit of white paint splatter over the inked area.  I then white heat embossed the word "wonderful" on black cardstock and cut it out. I stamped the rest of the sentiment above and below which I like the look of.  I assembled the scene with Fuchsia hanging down and the hummer approaching to feed.  A few sequins and my card i...

Magic Picture Changer - Happy Anniversary

Hello and happy Tuesday everyone!! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Danielle here up on the BRI blog with my first ever interactive card!! Once I saw the new Lawn Fawn Magic Picture Changer die , I knew I had to dig in and give it a go! It is our 5 year anniversary this week so I thought I would make a card to celebrate us!! Now I have never tried doing an interactive card before mostly because I was intimidated and didn't know where to start, but this die is so easy to use and can be used with any stamps you may already have!   For my first image I used the new Lawn Fawn stamp set Open Me .  I loved the little sign and chicks that are in this stamp set.  I stamped my sign image on a piece of smooth bristol cardstock.  *Tip: you don't want to use a heavy cardstock as it may prevent from sliding* (I learned this the hard way)  Now I know I wanted to do some ink blending in the background, therefore I stamped the sign image on a post it so I could mas...
