Good morning! Jessica here with my final post as a design team member for Butterfly Reflections Ink! It's crazy how fast the months have just flown by...I have loved my time on the team and I highly recommend that you consider applying (today's the last day!!) for the next term! Vanessa is AMAZING and I created this card with her in mind!
I wanted to finish my term with my favorite card techniques...watercoloring and shakers!! To start off I took a piece of acetate and used it to smoosh Abandoned Coral distress ink onto a 4x5.25 panel of watercolor paper. Once the color totally saturated the panel I dried it with my heat tool. At that point the color was fairly light so I used more distress ink to add splatters and blotches of varying intensities. After I was happy with the background I set it aside to finish drying while I created the shaker!
I cut the shaker from white cardstock using the Neat and Tangled Gardenia Blooms Journaling Card die. I stamped the sentiment with versamark and heat-embossed it with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder. Next I adhered a piece of acetate to the back of the card and lined it with foam mounting tape. I did add a piece of foam mounting tape behind the sentiment so there would be sequins above and below the sentiment no matter how I was holding the card. Then I filled the shaker with the gorgeous new sequins from Butterfly Reflections Ink! I used Not to Burst Your Bubble, Head in the Clouds, and my personal favorite: I Carried a Watermelon! I am a huge fan of Dirty Dancing (love Patrick Swayze!) so I love that name! ;)
To finish my card, I laid the distress ink background panel over the shaker and sealed it. Then I dipped the edges of a white cardstock panel in versamark and embossed the edges with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder. I did two layers of powder to make sure the border was nice and smooth. I used foam mounting tape to adhere the distress ink panel to the gold embossed panel and then I mounted that to a top-folding card base.
So that's my last card! Thanks so much for visiting and for all the sweet comments you've left the past few months! And Vanessa, thanks for all the fun!! You're the best!! :)

ReplyDeleteHi Jessica ~ This card is fantabulous!!! I'm a sucker for both, shaker cards and water coloring, whether with paints or markers or Distress Inks. Your card is absolutely stunning and I particularly like the way you made the sequins visible from both the top and bottom die cut sections.
