DT Open Call for the fall/early winter term!

Hi, everyone! I hope you've all been enjoying the summer. It's hot here in NH and I'm sitting out on the deck typing this as my kids swim in the pool, a very wise investment for us this year. :) We've been keeping fairly busy with trips to the beach, lake, playgrounds, camping, etc. Soon enough it will be back-to-school time and my daughter (the "baby") will be starting kindergarten (full day). She's so excited and while I am too, I'm not sure I will be once school starts. She's always been with me aside from pre-school a few hours, a couple days a week and I think I'm really going to miss my little shopping/lunch date mini me!!! My oldest son will be starting college this fall (WHAT?!) and my middle man (hehe) is still very into drawing and decided to join Cub Scouts when school starts. He LOVES the outdoors and I think he'll really like it. That's a little update on my end and hope all of you and your families are doing well.

Now onto the real reason I'm here! The next open call begins TODAY! Whoop whoop! My past DT girls truly have been AMAZING and are helping cover July and August while I restructure a bit! In the past, I've had 3 month terms, but time really does go by quickly (just ask them) and I'm going to try moving to a 4 month term. We are looking for 3-5 new members! Is one of those people YOU?!

Please send us 3-5 samples of your most recent creations to butterflyinkersDT@gmail.com. Your samples can be cards, layouts and/or pocket style pages. While I don't sell 12x12 paper currently due to the cost of shipping, I do sell SCRAPBOOKING items and always get the newest collections. It seems I've become kind of the go-to stamp shop which is GREAT, but I'd really like to expand selling more other products and get a good mix of people/styles in this term as the last one was full of fabulous card makers. If you've applied for the team before, PLEASE make sure you're sending NEW artwork. We'd also like links to your online galleries, blogs, YouTube channels, etc., anything that will give us an idea of what your creative style and abilities are. Please include if you are currently or have been on any other Design Teams in the past and tell us a little about yourself in a short bio.

This is a 4 month commitment starting in September and going through December. You must be willing to create 4 projects per month with one blog post per week. Sometimes an additional project will be asked for and appreciated. We do ask that you be exclusive to the online shop for Design Team work. You can design for manufacturers, blogs, kit clubs, etc., but we would appreciate it if you stuck with our online shop only for the 4 month term. We are always trying to expand and gain new customers so sharing links to the shop is required at a minimum of 3 times a week via various social media outlets. This is a BIG part of the DT's job and we appreciate you helping us get the word out. You can post links to your own blog posts, projects shared on FB/IG, a teammates fabulous creation, your favorite current products, sales, etc. There is ALWAYS something to share and again, a main part of the "job".

In return for your creations and promotion, you will get $30.00 worth of FREE product each month. In addition, you will also get a 25% discount to use as much as you'd like. The shop is FULL of fabulous products with more coming in regularly and you'll be able to get yourself some at a generous discount. Who doesn't love that?!

If you LOVE fall and holiday crafting, this is definitely the term for you!!! If it sounds fun and like a great opportunity, please send us your application!!! The deadline is August 15, 2015. We will go over all the applications and choose the best fit for the shop. Thank you for the continued support and we look forward to seeing all of your incredible creations. Happy Crafting!

Vanessa

    1. You are welcome to apply. I've had a couple international/Canadian girls on the team. The only thing is that you would be responsible for the shipping charges and they can be a little costly so that's up to you! :)

  3. I may be your dopleganger on the west coast. My youngest (and partner in crime) is beginning kindergarten in two weeks. My oldest is headed off to freshman dorm life. It makes me nervous, excited and anxious all at the same time. My home will feel and sound much different in the blink of an eye. Maybe a design team is what I need to fulfill my time. Hmmm... thinking about submitting!

    1. OMG, that's funny! LOL My oldest actually graduated last year and took a year off, but he moved out at the beginning of the year so I've already gotten kind of "used to" that part. Plus, he was always hiding in his room when he was home so I hardly saw him anyway. :P Not having my girl with me will be a major change! I can't deny that I'm looking forward to some freedom though. I'll look out for your app!

But, I would love to apply for your design team! I love a challenge, and that would be just the challenge I need to keep me creating...instead of just collecting crafty goodies, lol! Also, I would love to share your shop on my YouTube channel. Thank you for all your sweet comments on my channel! ;)

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things  Snuggle Bunnies  for the girl and Magical Dragons for th

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew , one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog , and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN! With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon  creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink  and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products .   First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set .   I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored.   I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge, then tore the vel
