Lunch box love

Hey there!  Jung here with my very first blog post for the Butterfly Reflictions Ink Design team.  I am so excited to be here, especially since it's my first time being on a design team!  Thanks for having me Vanessa!

Many of you have kiddos who went back to school recently.  I have a fourth grader and a kindergartener.  We started school 2 weeks ago, and my girls love when I pack them lunches.  I have always loved including a little note, even if it's just on a scrap piece of paper.  In the morning, we are always scrambling to get ready, and short on time.  I thought it would be a good idea to have some cute notes ready for special days like holidays and even test days when they need a little extra encouragement.

I looked through my stamp stash to look for cute little images to decorate my note cards.  All the stamps I used are from Lawn Fawn.  They are Chit ChatWinter PenguinMonster MashYear TwoFintastic Friends, and Winter Sparrows.  I could have easily made a set of cards from just one or two of these stamp sets, but I figured I might as well get some use out of my Lawn Fawn stamps, lol!

1.  I stamped my images on white card stock using MFT ink pad in black licorice.
2.  I colored in my images using copic markers.  I also used my wink of stella clear glitter pen on a few of my images.
3.  I either fussy cut the images by hand, or used the matching lawn cuts (dies) if I had them: Winter Penguin LCMonster Mash LCFintastic Friends LCWinter Sparrows LC.
4.  I roughly laid out my images on some 3x4 BH Project Life lined cards (I chose the cards with lines so I could easily write notes to my girls) to get a rough idea of the background I wanted.
5.  For my backgrounds, I used Tim Holtz distress inks in colors: salty oceanmowed lawnpicked raspberrytumbled glasspeacock feathers, spiced marmalade, spun sugar, mustard seed & chipped sapphire.  On a few of my backgrounds, I sprayed some perfect pearls mist.  I love how distress inks react to water or mists!
6.  Once the backgrounds were dry, I glued my images onto the cards and stamped a few small images (like snowflakes, bubbles, and music notes) from the stamp sets to finish off the note card.

Here is one that I made inspired by the September mood board.

After making my cards, I though about how I could keep all my cards together.  I originally thought about stapling them all together, and just ripping one off as I go, but then I remembered that I had the Lawn Fawn lawn cuts goodie bag die, and thought it'd be perfect to hold my cards.

1.  I die cut the goodie bag out of water color paper.  (You need to cut the die out twice.)
2.  I water colored the background of the front panel using some of the same TH distress inks listed above.
3.  Using some Versafine onyx black ink, I stamped the fish tank from LF Fintastic Friends.  Then, I hand wrote Lunch Notes.
4.  I scored all the lines and glued my 2 goodie die panels together.
5.  I glued on some cute little fish and some stars and hearts from Lucy's sequin selections in gold dust.
6.  Lastly, I added a bow using Lawn fawn lawn trimmings twine in sweetheart.

I really hope you like my project.  If you choose to make some lunch notes yourself, you can go all out or make it super easy by just stamping a few images directly on the note card, like in my example below.  If you don't have the goodie bag die, you can keep your cards in a decorated envelope or go simple and keep them in a ziploc bag.

I really hope you all enjoyed my blog post!  Since it's my first, I wanted to create something special.  I hope I've left you inspired to get crafty!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Wednesday y'all!

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things  Snuggle Bunnies  for the girl and Magical Dragons for th

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew , one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog , and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN! With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon  creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink  and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products .   First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set .   I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored.   I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge, then tore the vel
