Hello there! Audrey here today with a watercolor card to share with you. I am blessed that I rarely have occasion to need a sympathy card, but unfortunately, I needed to make one this week. I wanted to create a special card, but a little more simple than my normal style; something not too flashy or over-the-top. I started out by heat embossing the largest butterfly from the Paper Smooches Graceful Beauties stamp set onto a piece of Ranger Distress Watercolor Paper. I stamped it first with Versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. (This is a beautiful stamp set, and though it is not currently in the BRI shop, you can always make a special request for it, and Vanessa will special order it for you. How awesome is that?) After I was done embossing, I watercolored the panel with my $5 set of pan watercolors from Michaels. I was careful to really water down the paint so that the colors would be more muted. The embossed butterfly resisted the watercolor, leaving a bright white impression in the center of the watercolor. When it was dry, I used the Avery Elle Wonky Stitches dies to add some stitching to the edges of the panel. For some subtle shimmer, I used the gold watercolor from my set of 36 Kuretake Gansai watercolors to add gold splatter to the piece. I did not want to use black ink for the sentiment because I felt it would be too bold given the softness of the other colors, so I heat embossed a sentiment from the same stamp set onto vellum in white embossing powder. Before adding the panel to a card base using foam tape, I added a scattering of gold sequins to compliment the gold watercolor.
That's all for me today! Be sure to stop by tomorrow for lots more inspiration from the design team! Thanks for stopping by! :)
So soft and pretty <3
